  • What's up tilt? can someone explain the input for me?

  • @gamer4150 block thrown is when someone attacks you at a clcose range while you shield then immediately after they hit, tap a to grab them. and you can up tilt without smashing by turning off tap jump

  • I know this video is really old, but hearing the word "combo" when watching a Brawl video makes me lol.

  • You can recover with Wolf "fire fox". You need to do at the right angle and time.

  • lol the "recovery" moves like up and B is kickass to screw around

  • my fc is 2579-9306-5446 anyone message me is they wanna battle and add me, send me your code and ill get back to you asap!

  • yes the other "space animals" can reflect projectiles

one thing i donlt like about ssbb is that they added a lot of reflects to other characters i liked it better in ssb 64 where it was only fox that could do that but beside that ssbb ROCKS but i have to fix the laser lens so it will play more often

  • @Yoshikkko Yes, exactly.

  • dash attack=shitty. I much rather prefer dacus.

  • go on youtube and type in purple and brown

  • MOOD

  • READY........GO!

  • What exactly is a 'tilt'? My english is pretty good but it's not my native language, and it is not really explained well on the internet because to native speakers it's obvious, but to me it isn't, so if someone could explain it, thanks <3

  • And I agree on that recovery thing - though it sucks with most characters, especially Meta Knight. I think the one with the best recovery move is Sonic, from all the characters I've tried out, because you have full control over where you are going, and he also jumps really high.

  • @Yoshikkko it's when you bend the directional stick just a little to one direction, not all the way over, or it would become a smash attack ;D now go play

  • @922153 And press A at the same time right?

  • space animals? or Star fox characters? haha

  • This made me main Wolf instead of Diddy when Brawl first came out. I've since changed back, but this video really made me think Wolf was hot stuff. Good times.

  • wofl is a very solid character defiantly not the worst char of brawl i started to main him for pit mains cause he reflects the spam arrow shots

  • i agree with most of what u said, except the part about him being a force in tournies. i think his KO potential is just too low. thats prolly his biggest downfall. u have to do allota work to kill someone with wolf.

  • not really, if you can get some good combos in, wolfs meteor smash could kill very quickly

  • yea, i kno his meteor is good, but its like something u have to set up for, and its not always a sure thing to hit. doesnt give him allota KO variety.

  • the beginning part was badass lol and the tutorial was awesome

  • if you no how to use wolf recovery they r amazing

  • that slamming attack reminds me of dbz o.o

  • they look like michael jackson in thriller

  • His foward smash, after blocking it can be punished from being pivot grabbed I think.

  • Whats wrong with it?

  • space animals? lmao

  • 8:13 I think any meteor smash can be meteor canceled, you just have to wait a full second before you can do anything

Or is that just Melee lol

  • It is a good tutorial. I main wolf, But he has alot more tricks up his sleve than just the basics. ;)

  • If you cancel his side-b in one of the 3 frames then he gets an OMFGload of horizontal recovery.

I'm surprised Wolf hasn't been used in many tournaments, because he OWNS.

  • I like how after the instructional parts you guys got into the fighting spirit. 5/5

  • Pit has the best recovery.

  • Thank you. I've been trying to main Wolf for a while. This really helped

  • the delay after attacks leaves him open put in the cons and such

  • I loved Falco in melee but in brawl i main wolf he's awesome!

  • Tech, TECH!!

    Oh well.

I think it's actually called 'Ukemi'

It means recover or get up or cancel or something.

  • They call it a Ukemi in Soul Calibur 4

  • Its crazy theres this video by aqua and in the video he tells us that the Down A is wolf's wost move. but in your video you like it. I love it that someone thinks its a good move to me it looks like a good meteor hit.

  • i unlocked wolf nvm ty u helped so much

  • when u get doone with tabbu dont uu have to beat boss battle and wtf is the ruins?

  • k wats se? or sse dont think im dumb

  • SE (or SSE) is the Subspace Emissary, the Adventure Mode. "The Ruins" is a stage you encounter in the Subspace Emissary where you first find Charizard and Ivysaur. Boss battles is unlocked only after you've beaten Tabuu and finished Classic Mode at least once

  • also how do u unlock him

  • He's one of the last ones to unlock for many, but there are 3 different ways to unlock him.

    1. Play 450 Brawl matches and beat him.

    2. Finish Boss Battles with Fox or Falco.

    3. After beating Tabuu, go back to "The Ruins" stage in the SE to face him in the bottom door of the second elevator.

  • good vid ur cool add meh

  • Dude u can recover using up b if u just up b then the direction u want to get to...

    Up+B-Foward=foward up b lol...

  • LOL @ wolfs best move being the d-air. Thats like one of his worst moves... But then again you apparantly made this with only 30 minutes of brawl so its fine.

  • I disagree with a lot of what this video says.

  • Yeah, that'll happen when you play Wolf for 30 minutes on the Japanese version back in February and then make a video about it.

I was making this to demonstrate the move list, not to prove anything about his eventual metagame. Note the disclaimer in the movie's caption! Whatever I say about moves being good or not would change once the game actually came out in the States.

  • AH. I appreciate the response and understand now :).

-Then thanks for trying to help the up and coming Wolf players.

  • Oh and his illusion move, if you use it after a back throw at about 40% over the edge just enough its a good spike that you can set up and recover from pretty easily

  • I can recover with wolf pretty easily. I think its good anyway

  • i have to say you have one of the best tortuals up on youtube. great upload.

  • nice wolf. This is a great help for me since im kinda trying to learn him

  • holy shit you have a beautiful wolf. we should brawl sometime =)

    whats urr friend code?

  • holy shit you have a beautiful wolf. we should brawl sometime =)

    whats urr friend code?

  • when im wolf fox or falco because they fast all i do is get the enimy airborne then keep them dealing high damage and soon off the map. it disables their attacks so they are usless while my ally charges up then i hit they guy into to him and boom 1 hit death. it takes a while to get good because they cant touch the ground at all or they get their moves bak.

  • how do you do that back air thing?

  • i can only load 1/3 of the movie and i have a really good connection

  • his up and side b are very good if theyre well aimed and timed correctly when attacking and recovery, if u dont get it right when recovering or attacking u fall or miss badly.

  • WOLF IS AWSOME GO WOLF!

  • i used to main wolf but his recovery was so bad i kept dieing. i play wolf for fun now. he would have been a better character, if you could back on the stage easier....

  • lol... His side-b attack is REALLY good for recovery... At least when you come in from the side... Though if you come below the stage, you're screwed with wolf :/

Btw, wolf is my fav char~

  • Very informative video. I got some useful info. Thanks for presenting it. :)

  • "his f smash moves him forward three quarters of a year"

  • his down air sucks too

  • ? its a great spike, you just have to time it

  • the U-tilt sux

  • yeah this is good real thorough..his 'b' attacks i think are better then you cedited him.. his neutral 'b' at close ange works as a slash and fire..alo you can angle his up 'b' to help his recover, still i agree its his weakest point his foward 'b' can be thrown into combos when timed correctly..but its a risk,if you find you do it off the edge you fall helplessly..good video man!

  • tiers r 4 qweers celebornxi.

  • yaa ... wolf is the best ssbb character !!

  • you should have mentioned that his over b, the "flash", is also a spike/ meteor smash.

  • Forgot to mention that when he pulls out his blaster it does damage. Hits them with the blade things on the bottom of the blaster then fires. I think it's like 4 or 5%, might be more...

  • lol I love the begining

  • yeah i use the forward B for recovery if i m thrown out the stage since it doesnt end

  • what i do is in his forward B is when i start the move i pres the b button repeatedly and fast if done well it doesnt stops at the end of the move but keeps going after it ends

  • Actually, Wolf's side smash is really prone to blocking-then-throwing. Same with his dash A. Other than that, yeah he's pretty much everything you said. If you want to get someone away from you, I suggest short hopping then either back A or neutral A. Or even neutral B, with its initial hit, as most people block the initial hit then get hit with the actual shot, leaving them prone to an attack.

  • wtf couldsomeone PLZ tell me how to dash plz! ty

  • Um...what do you mean? Just tap the control stick instead of just pressing it.

  • lol.

  • Wolf is a good character but i prefer falco.

  • You forgot to mention "scarring" Wolf is the only character that can do that. With his >B, he has pretty good recovery

Scarring: if on the edge for FD or some other maps, he can drop and >B, and he'll cut THROUGH the stage to end up back on stage, and if you use his >B correctly, it's a spike as well. so if you and someone else are both off stage, you can spike them on your recovery to grab the edge, which is VERY NICE

  • Scarring wasn't discovered until a couple of months after this vid was made.

  • so. That helps a lot, I didnt know that, so thank you, shattered0sun, you helped me.

  • wolf actually has about the same level of attack power as shiek, which isn't very good. but he's heavier and can string his attacks for very quick damage.

  • yaeh wolf is very good.however with his recovery move well its very bad .

  • i hate it when some ppl play as wolf they all side smash abuse

  • whats wrong with that thats east to avoid -.-

  • i meant easy*

  • some of u people are obiously jelous of wolf's strength or something.. the stats of his abilities indicates that he is nearly as strong as ganondorf almsot the same weight (meaning hardefr to kill him) and isnt as slow as ganon , he is a perfect character to use....... his down smash will send anyone flying...

  • he migh not be as slow as ganondorf but he is slow that and his recovery are realy the only bad things about him

  • Wolf lacks of a good ability to knock oponents (well, Bair isn't that bad) off the stage, but his Front Smash is reasonably strong, it can pass through oponents, so they can't Shieldgrab you with ease.

  • His Fair can usually kill at about 130, it's just that Wolf is reasonably heavy. Off the top, you could get it to work at lower percentages probably.

  • wolfs recovery isn't bad, it just has to be directed straight at the edge for it to work. (and its hard on FD, theres a HUGE lip that i always get stuck under)

  • Many of his moves hav finishing moves too. For example, the end of his up B and side B. His foreward smash up smash and foreward tilt. Most of his moves do slash damage. That means it's almost purely damage. Which makes him a good candidate for combos. But his grabs aren't good set ups because of the knockback being too far or the delay after the grab. His down grab is good for a foreward smash to someone off guard but it can be dodge with timing. His spike is good but it has huge delay.

  • Dude, if you notice wolf has one of the best recoveries, the problem is how vulnerable they make him once they r used, his recovery goes farther than fox's which is why they make it so you can't move for a while.

  • wolf is one of my faves but he dont have aerial or speed

  • U kidding me? Wolf has some of the best aerial moves. They are fast and strong, with good knockback. Even if they have a slight more delay than any of the characters they r still someone the best aerial moves.

  • everyone says "his awesome strength" when really wolf is one of the weakest characters in the game when it comes to knockback. well maybe not the weakest but definitely atleast bottom or mid tier. his priority, yes. i guess thats what people mean when they say "strongest"

  • i hope you know that wolf is now being considered for "top tier" status after a wolf player won 4 mlg tournaments in a row.

  • i hope you know that mlg shouldnt even include brawl.

  • its fun when you and your friends are drunk and easily amused by flying gordos, landmaster tanks, and c4 explosions. as for technical skill, well i wish there was some.

  • I Think Someones Just Upset Because They Couldn't Make The Transition From Melee To Brawl. qq baddy.

  • Are you kidding me? There was no "transition" from melee to brawl. If anything, I had to dumb down my playing capabilities just to play brawl. Theres nothing advanced about brawl. Everything got taken down to a much lower level, making it impossible to be a much better player than others. All of the technical skills were lost, and anyone could at least pose a threat to a pro. I recently just picked up melee again, and it was so much more of a challenge than brawl, but thats what made it fun.

  • that's just like saying "I went back to windows 95 because it's a challenge" The reason anyone can pose a threat to a pro is because a pro has to now commit to their moves instead of musclememory and outspeed their mistakes. If they use the wrong move they are penalized instead of just whipping up a flurry of assaults till the opponent can't recover.

  • WTF!?!??

  • The problem is just that Wolf is so overpowered everyone this he's the greatest at playing him. They tried to balance his awesome strength with the bad recovery, but he's still a bit too strong.

  • You forgot to mention that if you hit just at the end of Wolf's Side-B, you meteor smash your opponent downwards. That is, you'll spike.

  • Yeah I used wolf's spike move to get 6:65 sec. (easy) on event 38

  • Does dumbody wanna play a brawl match

  • ya i agree Wolfs Recovery Moves are pretty crummy... i guess its his weight, he is abit of a heavy character... anyways i still love using this guy, hes a harsh Bad Ass

  • wolf is my top tier

  • i love his forward air its crazy when u intersept the guy

  • i used to like wolf but then 2 things happened.

    1. everybody likes wolf so i dont like playing the same enemy

    2. i have (this is just me) REALLY bad control over his attacks. i used his side and up specials too much and so i fell of the ledge too often =P

  • MY POINT OF VIEW-

Wolf kicks butt. Simple. He can crush lots of other characters, ahevnt lost once with him against my bro, who plays ssbb nonstop. Wolf's FS sucks tho. (FS= FINAL SMASH)

  • I don't play as wolf but you forgot to mention that his fair is a meteor smash but its really hard to get it right.(read it on the DOJO)

  • Haha loved the "it moves him 3/4 of a year." Your videos rock man!

  • I'm trying to be better at Wolf, and a lot of videos using him use an 'autocanceled Fair'.

Does anyone know what this is and how to do it? Just asking...

    Great video, by the way.

  • use fair immediately after a shorthop

  • yes we get it his moves are good lol

  • Alot of people i play with dont like wolf... i do i use him very well... a combo with is a small but strong opener is his jump and neutral A with his normal A 3-step attack. a nice lil 15% combo which leaves alot of people open. Also If you play MLG rules no items so final smashes dont matter.

  • bro my name is jt and i think wolf is one of the best characters in the game i kick ass with him the only think that's bad about wolf is that his final smash is like falco and fox i wish people will change the final smash and make it somethink wolf like

  • His meteor smash combo is so hard to master without killing oneself, but its useful and satisfying to land.

  • many things to say about this video:

    1. instead of saying "really good" a lot you said extremely good.

    2. You left out (or forgot) that Wolf has a bayonet on his gun. you could use his neutral B when your opponent is close to you and it would do and extra 5%

    3.space animals?

    4. Firefox? (you mean star fox right?)

    5.Great introduction in the beginning!

    6. Good Video!

  • No, he means firefox. Firefox is the up-b of fox, and with all the other star fox guys, and it all behaves in the same way; the direction can be directed. The bayonet is good, though.

  • oh, i never knew what it was called (even though its kinda ovious)

  • Not a bad review. Lots of people are lazy and just show the moves and expect people to understand the strengths and weaknesses :P Good explanations. I still like Fox better because his reflector stops his falling momentum :)

  • wolf recovery is bad on fd because of the stupid concave indentation

on battlefield, wolfs recovery works well

just hit the slant and youll move up and grab the ledge. then use ur side b to sort of teleport to the middle

  • Starwolf is awesome, I'm looking forward to playing as him once i get my wii

  • Well, i have been block thrown by level nine computers. But they are computer, who thinks that fast?

  • wow wolf is really good

  • his forward and up b are also good moves (in my opinion) to use even if you aren't recovering. You can use his up b right after a down throw at lower percentages to get more hits in, as well as the final kick which knocks them back a bit. His forward b can be used on opponents coming at you with short hop aerials because if timed right the angle works out. I know that shield grabbing is a much better idea but again its a mixup .

  • In addition to the combos marthmaster was talking about, a very simple and incredibly effective one is down b into either forward tilt or smash. The stun time will let you connect every time if you do it quickly enough.

  • as someone who's been playing wolf for a while (since the release of the japanese version) I want to throw in my two cents as well. the movie was good but I find I have trouble connecting with his dair and its very unlikely that you'll get a spike out of it. This isn't to say that it shouldn't be used because it does have immense power.

  • marthmaster86, have you considered writing a wolf faq for gamefaqs? If not, you should, you sure know your shit!

  • i have to disagree on some things.

First, yeah his reflector move might good, but it takes a bit longer for wolf to use it compared to fox or falco. Second, his recovery moves are near perfect, especially his side B move. The side b lets you get back on to the platform, and even shifts you up to bring you closer, and is also a good combo makers if you know how to use it.

  • please tell me that you didn't just say that his side b, which makes him FREEFALL, is a good COMBO STARTER?

  • sorry the next two responses were for something else my browser messed up

  • Nice video and good effort. This is fairly informative.

however, no offense, but you are slightly mistaken about a few things. overall i liked the explanation of what his moves do, however most of your strategy is fairly fallable.

***his dair is definitely not his best move. i would never spike with it unless someone is a sitting target for fear of sd and as a part of a combo its just not all that useful. too much lag.

  • still, you CAN dair lcancel into a grab though if you do it right. thats one of the best strategies if your gonna use it. also, you can use it on someone who misses a grab after doublejumping as a mindgame. (credit for this idea goes to bocks from smashboards)

***his fair is actually one of his best moves. it has the lowest percentage requirement other than dsmash (prob his best move) to ko. and you can combo it by sh and performing the attack immediately.

    (see next post)

  • ***nuetral air is also fairly useful. use it like u said to start combos or to continue. nair to db to fsmash is probably his most consistent combo. u can also use it 2 edgeguard against a hanging oppenent. nair to quickjump bair towards stage to WALL jump bair to up/side b recovery edgehog. savvy?

***dsmash is his best move. use it after dodging an attack or performing a dthrow and initial dash. maybe dthrow to initial dash, dodge dsmash/fsmash/ftilt/blaster, etc. mix it up (see next post)

  • ***side b is the preferred recovery but its easier 2 intercept. use it 2 scar or telestep and keep ur oppenent guessing when ur on the edge.

***bair is amazing.u should probably be performing this more than any move.

spam bair and blaster and just when ur oppenent is getting frustrated, throw in a good fsmash spam

***uair is good, but i dont think its as good as u think it is. i use it only if i cant reach my opponent anyother way. otherwise fair/bair are better alternatives.

    (see next post)

  • Try canceling side b on the second frame of it. It gets you some pretty good horizontal. Also, uair is pretty damned good. Honestly I end up using it more than fair, but that's because I can't autocancel it consisntently enough xD

  • ***dthrow CANNOT be chained unless you are playing a crappy opponent .u may get lucky once or twice, as with any move.

***aaa ground combo sucks. dont use it.ur opponent can intercept your attack and counter. use fa instead after shield canceling an air attack.

***his recovery in general does suck. so u were spot on there. its a shame. id say it possibly takes him from top tier, and keeps him from being arguably the best character at this point in ssbb history.

anyways, thats just my 2 cents.

  • Wolf at first glance looks wierd to use, but his combo potential is quite good. Avoiding block throws is great, he lacks many high KO potential moves other than down smash. But, his aerial game allows him to rack up damage and get many KO's. Recovery can be mastered if you practice directing it.

  • Wolf and fox both increase the speed of projectiles I think wolf has a greater rate of acceleration then fox.... I don't know about Falco Though

  • Wolfs up B across the stage is nice.

  • Hey when you guys do this it would be awesome if you added the FS thingy :D

    Please?

  • I think they would, but they have time restraints.

  • whats block throws?

  • When you block an attack and press A to grab the guy.

  • duh...

  • all of the reflection moves increase the speed and power of the progectile now and it seems that wolf is more of a ground guy instead of aireal i mean none of his air attacks have a good nockback

  • Wolf doesn't seem to be an areal fighter to me. The spike is nice but I would rather play defensive with Wolf rather than chase foes off the cliff and risk potiental online lag or attacks that might send him father in a direction. Wolf seems like a great 1 vs 1 fighter with his laser spam. The recovery is tricky but I plan on mastering it.

The Dair and uptilt were great combos. This was definately worth watching.

  • sorry i mean 3 2 1 GO

    my bad

  • sorry i mean 3 2 1 GO

    my bad

  • i don't know if anyone has said this, but you can hurt them with his blaster twice if ur right next to them. 1 when he pulls it ut and 2 from the blast. it coould possibly be good in combos.

  • hhmmm.... no idea his up-tilt can chain into Dair.... gotta try that. Nice vid guys, keep it up!

  • not to be rude... but up b and side b are usefull I can't believe you said they hardly are... Up b is great combo finisher and side b, if you can get use to it, can be an amazing offe
