One thing I would add is that it's surely helpful for people with body image problems if they can also try to focus on positive aspects of themselves that are unrelated to their physical appearance. Looks are the first thing that people note when they meet a person, but quite soon they become more interested in the person inside... e.g. are they fun to be with, kind, interesting etc. (CONT....)

I have a (male) friend who was born with severe facial disfigurement. When people first meet him it is difficult for them not to feel shocked. Very soon though, when they get to know him they see what a beautiful person he is inside that external shell. He is the most popular person I know and is married with a beautiful wife and 3 gorgeous children....

Yes, you are correct, Alena. Most men are stereotyped as focusing on private areas with their imagination. For me, a womans' eyes and tone of her voice take precedence because I want to see deeper and perceive clearer than the skin.
