  • nice song ^_^

  • Another fucking ignorant Canadian trolling the tube.

  • The title says the best of Polish music, and unless the best of Polish music consists of one song, go fuck urself.

  • This guy Czesław Niemen ( Tcheslav Neemen ) is a legend in Polish rock. He was a musical and vocal virtuoso in the 60's and 70's mostly. He is not alive anymore but is fondly remembered by all Poles who were young at that time. Noone expects you to know him, but why do you degrade another language and culture that you don't understand? I know very well that you came here to make fun and degrade, because I know how ignorant and rude and intolerant Canadians really are.

  • How am I degenerating anything? I just said that the title is wrong and you jump at me saying im an ignorant Canadian. Look in the mirror.

  • Read your first comment coolhandcanada:" I don't know about the song but I do know that its a shit title". Now, how do you know its a shit title? Isnt that denegrating another language? Who does that? Only ignorants. By the way the title translates as : "A dream about Warsaw". I don't see anything shitty in that, do you?

  • Comment removed

  • No, you're the STUPID, stupid. White trash, redneck probably from some shitty little town in NEW FOUNDLAND or New Brunswick. "Trailer Park Boy" type hah,hah....

  • Actually, I live in the biggest suberban municipality in North America. We have more than 10 lanes of traffic going one way in my shithole town.

  • Peel Region? It's not a municipality. And if you say Mississauga it's not the biggest suburban municipality in North America. Anyhow suburbia is the sticks to this downtowner. You have nothing to brag about. I bet you drive a huge pickup like a farmer or an old souped up Honda Civic with dark blue tinted windows hah,hah,hah...

  • Ok, ur right I'm wrong. Get a life now?

  • Mississauga is the largest suburban municipality in all of North America, with a population of 636,801 and a population density of 2125.1/km². Mississauga is larger than the American cities of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; Boston, Massachusetts; Washington DC; Nashville, Tennessee; Seattle, Washington; Portland, Oregon; New Orleans, Louisiana; Las Vegas, Nevada; Cleveland, Ohio; Atlanta, Georgia; Sacramento, California; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Miami, Florida etc.

  • The five largest suburbs in North America, in order, are Mississauga, Ontario; Mesa, Arizona; Virginia Beach, Virginia; Surrey, British Columbia; and Laval, Quebec.

  • I see you're mighty proud of Mississausage hah, hah, hah. I've never heard of anyone bragging about the size of his/her suburbs. It's a first. Anyhow Mississauga is a bore. By the way, I was in all of the ones you mentioned and trust me when I say they're all better. Ok, so we established you're not a newfie. Have a great life in the saussage. P.S - was I right about the souped up Honda? The pocket rocket? Hah,hah,hah.....

  • I drive a 4 door American luxary sedan. With no cosmedic modifications.

  • @nomader999

trailer park boy? like the tv show?

    i love that show!!!

  • Czeslaw NIEMEN - Czeslaw Juliusz WYDRZYCKI z Ziemi Nowogrodzkiej .

Wybitny piesniarz , dziedzic wielkiej TRADYCJI Slowianskich Bardow i Lirnikow .

Chwala Czeslawowi ! Chwala Tradycji !

  • wtf

  • Ja osobiście jestem fanem Kolejorza, ale musze się zgodzić że to Legia ma najładniejszy hymn w całej polskiej lidze :)

  • 149Varety wrote;

"Your romantic fantasies of Poland being any kind of dynasty is hundreds of years dead. Every SMART Pole knew this years ago and immigrated to the USA.You seem to have done the same."

Even bigger group of Germans, Swedes, Irish, Italians and Jews imigrated to USA, and somehow, it doesn't make people around the world see those countries as failed, quite the opossite.

So why is that that only Poland is judged negatively due to its emigration???

  • Kocham utwor thi!!!!!

    To jest piekne!

  • Sigh, to stereotype a country that has over 300 million people is kind of silly. Keep in mind, the USA is a BIG COUNTRY. There are a lot of people with many different opinions coming to religion, economics, and politics. This rule applies to any place in the world. It is true that neo-conservatives (Neo-liberalism) had the majority in America for a while, but Britain did to(Margaret Thatcher right?). Plus people have varied backgrounds. A person from London is different from a person from Oxford

  • @Finalfan67

I'm a REAL POLAK, and live in and love America. Who cares about what "someoneinusa" writes or thinks since he or she doesn't think at all! Like me, doing genealogy, found after MANY YEARS OF RESEARCH, that I have possible relatives in Austria, Russia and Czechoslovikia. Who is "someoneinusa?" Maybe part anyone, yet waves a Polish flag and spits on the USA where it finds comfort in, as Poland wasn't good enough. Why? Who cares! I love this song, so let's listen to some music!

  • @149Variety Czesiu-The Best!

  • -sighs- for christ sake would people stop puting down americans? im american. im not as bad as everyone would asume i am. stop steriotyping the whole damn country and get the hell over yourselves.

  • @looserfreeak

You are correct! This someoneinusa is a racist and anti-American, anti-Asian and anti-Black, yet we are paying his or her wages in one way or another. I'm Polish, and frequent Polish music from my ex-homeland, and then I came across this "DUPA" who lives among us while he or she critisizes our every move and nation. I have come across so many a Polak (correct Polish spelling), like family, who love, live in and fought for America. Please, don't let losers like this get to you.

  • I work full time, never been unemployed, even served 5 years in US military, like so many Polish people do contribute to US economy, yet US gives visas to French, Saudis and Germans who hate US ass...

Problem is that Americans respect anti- american French, Germans even Saudis and Egiptians who support terrorism.

Poles have always loved US, and helped US since American Revolution, WWII, today in Iraq and Afganistan, and what do we Poles get in return? Polish jokes, and nothing else...

  • @someoneinusa

Yes - and they also stole the galabki and perogi from the Swedish and pass it off as their own!!

  • @someoneinusa

Yes! And, you are most likely correct, too - it's the way of the world. Just like Marco Polo bringing noodles from China to Italy. It's now called.........pasta.

  • @classiclistener01

I'm Polish, and my family is originally from Krakow. EVERYONE who's anyone in Poland knows, or they deny, that the galabki and the pierogi are Swedish. Good comment, and I'm surprised that someone outside of Poland or Sweden would know this.

  • @NatejGA thanks for ur support my friend and we promise u and the world that we have never given up and we never will for our freedom! YES FREE KURDISTAN and THANKS TO OUR FRIENDS especially our POLISH FRIENDS FOR EVER!!!!!

  • dobra piosenka!!!!!!!!!

  • Beautifull song greetings from slovakia

  • Wait, they allowed you to use long hair and beards in the 60s and 70s?

  • No, we were still in the fucking caves, beating up our wifes and fucking the dogs. We were also the 17-th class citizens of the planet on the outskirst of the Milky Way. Get a life you fucking prick.

  • You get a life. Retarded troll. Before you insult someone at least get to know what they're talking about. You have to be an stupid American that takes things for granted. I'm talking about these guys who have nothing to do with you. MOLLUSK!!! What the Fuck do you know about Communism and Totalitarian Regimes? What's the matter? Does your Dad get's more pussy than you? Fuck you!

  • People like you are the reason why Communism triumphs all over the World. Should I say: FUCK YOU VERY MUCH. THANK YOU!

  • Dude, I seriously hope, that you have replied to the wrong person by accident or something along these lines. I was referring to your statement about long hair and beards. Who the fuck do you think we are; fucking cavemen?? Who was supposed to allow or disallow shit like that? Jusst FYI I was born and raised in Poland and trust me I know enough about communism and all the fucking regimes. I expect an apology by tomorrow.

  • Simply Put. My Communist regime wont us to use allow 60s/70s fashions because they were Imperialist Propaganda to debilitate our society. If you didnt cared to ask why I asked such an honest question, then insult me, then display an inferiority complex and DEMAND ME to apologize to you when youre being a relentless, cocky totalitarian. You leave me with no choice but see that you were a very good member of The Communist Party. If is something else I don't want to know nor I care.

  • Because a good life makes it easier on you to lose your humbleness. And I honestly thought suffering through a Communist regime can give you a different perspective, like that of a more open minded person who doesn't thinks he deserves everything for granted and that the rest of the world is shit or just that they're the world's savior.

Glad to know you guys are back to normal, your English reading and interpretation is really good. You both have made me gain great respect for the polish people.

  • Beautiful song, beautiful city, thanks from Brazil!

  • cudowne wykonanie Cz. Niemena

  • This song is about Warsaw

  • what is he saying in english?

  • Not sure but it amost sounds like he is ripping off "Little piece of my heart"

  • little piece of my heat came about 10 years after this came outt

  • The two songs were ONE year apart, This song coming first (1966) then "Take another piece of my heart" (1967).

Regardless to when they came out they still sound a like.

  • cheepchips; "Not sure but it almost sounds like he is ripping off; "Little piece of my heart"

As a Pole living in USA, I can tell you that Americans tend to claim every invention and discovery in the world. I met many Americans who believed that; automobile, photography, film, radio etc was invented by Americans, while the fact is all of those were invented in Europe.

Same with this song, Niemen songs precedes, Joplin's song, by 10 years, but you can not think outside of the box.

  • sounds like youve got a bit of resentment going on, i'd get rid of that asap...very unhealthy

  • oh, so now its is about me...!?

Re-sentment...as the name indicates is the reaction to the arrogant attitute of Americans.

Can we blame Americans for feeling resentment to the Al-Quaeda terrorists for 9-11? No they have a right to use their defence mechanism, so do Europeans, Poles etc....

  • Haha sure you can--at least in my book...if somebody treats you unfairly and you are supposed, in your deepest gut feeling(s) and by your peers to have the right of indignation--it's still nonetheless harmful to yourself and eventually the bitterness turns to underhanded ways of revenge--a very bad spite....i don't see the point of holding it for the sake of itself--rather, to use it constructively is where its at---which you almost did in ur 1st comment...(you must know, im very bored_)

  • I do not feel any "resentment to the American people", all I say is that Americans are in fact self-centered, which is a fact.

Some American person here, called Polish singer (Niemen) a thief and accuses him for "ripping Jopling song off"....

What do you expect? That I will pretend that he is right? You Americans have been brainwashed with this "political correctness" and do not accept any constructive criticism.

Big deal!....Janice Joplin was not only hippie singer in the world..So?

  • Self-centered...a fact?? You must have it all figured out, country by country, a sentence for each. No political correctness here, I was, and still am, just pointing out your own blind hatred, which I'd rather call resentment because I think yours is more the thoughtful kind...though, still ignorant in its habit of generalizing.

  • I do NOT generalise people "county by country" as you put it. But since I lived in US half of my life, and besides Polish I also hold an American citizenship, I got to know the american culture and mentality inside out.

Americans dismiss other nations as unworthy of attention, even those that are far more advanced culturaly.

Poland might have been going through the trouble in last 200 years, but culturaly it is more defined and developed. USA is just like a spoiled teenager :)

  • Well, how the hell can I argue with someone who knows a culture of 300 million "inside out"? Not to mention an expert on European culture--I'm way out of my league!...

Not like Ive lived here my entire life and done a bit of traveling myself...nope, impossible, I must be another ignorant American...Sorry to waste your time. You: "I do NOT generalize people" Followed by- "Americans _____bla bla misplaced anger bla bla______"

Get some humility man--Or earn some credible merit.

  • Speaking of harboring a resentment or holding a grudge, you say it is "unhealthy to me" because USA is usually on a top of things.

So whenever Europeans, Poles compete successfully, and are better in music for instance, you accuse others of plagiarism.

I am just saying that Czeslaw Niemen song is as good, maybe even better then Janis Joplin's.

I am not bitter, I'm just saying that Americans are bullies, whant to get credit, and be "the first, the best'. It is not always the case.

  • @JesuitFarmer

Americans always laugh at and ridicule others customs although, or even despite those foreight European, Polish customs etc are more refined and civilised then American ones.

I see Americans who laugh at someone who is well dressed, good mannered, but if I came in the dirty jeans and streached t-shirt they would not say anything....

My point is when you listen to Niemen song, you should not always compare it to American music, as if it was the some kind of creme de la creme

  • Yeah Yeah, I understand the point and I agree--but understand my point--which is you keep generalizing!! You don't know EVERY American--nobody in my family or any of my friends, born here in the states, are as shallow as you describe--yes of course there are those people... and here, in the states, we call them idiots...no matter where they were born!

  • Read back comments, it was one American here, who generalised and used superficial thinking about Polish singer...

cheepchips; "Not sure but it almost sounds like he is ripping off; "Little piece of my heart"

He is assuming that Niemen must be ripping of Janis Joplin, just because in his mind Joplin is rated highter, or he thinks she was first, better hippie/rock singer etc....

THAT IS A GENERALISATION and SUPERFICIAL...way of thinking that Polish singer is copying US singer.

  • This man has covered:

"HIPPY HIPPY SHAKE" (an AMERICAN Rock n Roll song from 1959)

"LOCOMOTION" (an AMERICAN Rhythm & Blues song from 1962)

This man singing is clearly influenced by American Soul/Rock, as are many Euopeans.

When you know what your talking about you can get away with thinking as you put it "SUPERFICIALY".

Oh and for your infomation I am ENGLISH

  • Most of today science, law and culture of the west is BASED or strongly influence on the Greek and Roman systems..

I do not hear today anyone say, that Shakespeare copied Roman poets and writers, and copied the roman alphabet...

Same way with the Rock and Roll, pop music etc...You can devoid the rock singer of credit that has earned, just because he is not from the birthplace of Rock & Roll.

You English indead of wasting your time here learn to cook, your cuisine is worst in Europe!

  • cheepchips; "You keep mentioning Europeans, now Romans & Greeks, What exactly has Poland brought to the table"?

    Copernicus- discovery of solar-centric system.

Curie- discovery of radiation; Polonium and Rad.

    Chopin- romantic clasical music.

Warner Brothers emigrated to US from Warsaw and started Hollywood movie industry as you know it...

JPII, breaking of German Enigma coding machine. Or..Polish bomber pilots saving your boorish English arse from German Nazis in the Battle of Brittain...

  • England declared war with Germany because the Nazis invaded Poland...

The Nazis occupied Poland during what was the start of WWII, England winning the war saved Polands existence...

Poland would just be a huge German conservatory.

  • Ha ha...England won the war??? That is an overstatement. No one single nation of the so called Anti-nazi coalition defeted Nazi Germany on its own. US and Soviet Union both claim an honor, but the England...ha ha :)

Besides it doesn't matter who won the WWII, because for Poland war did not end in 1945, German occupation was followed by Soviet occupation of Poland which lasted untill the 1989.

Churchill and Roosevelt were disonorable bastards traded its staunch Polish ally to Russia in 1945.

  • England stood upto Germany & delared War starting the attack, others that claim honor were just followers.

Churchill didn't trade Poland, "the Anglo-Polish Agreement" obliegated England to aid Poland with only a German attack... a clause in this Treaty restricted England from agreeing to any partition of Poland.

Churchill was not a bastard he was just honoring his word

  • @someoneinusa

Poland wasn't a staunch ally to anyone other than it's self. It had no choice but to fight with whomever and against whomever it had to to salvage whatever little it could of itself. Poland didn't do any of this out of being a friend to anyone or out of anything so noble as being a needed ally. As cheepchips said - "England" - and the US and USSR got rid of Poland's Nazi invaders. I read your many comments, and you're here for nothing more than to start trouble and down all!

  • @classiclistener01

You are a total ignorant. Learn European history before downplaying Poland's role in European history. Look up following titles on wikipedia; General Pulaski, Battle of England, Enigma, Polish-Russian War of 1920, Seige of Vienna. Battle of Grunwald. Monte Casino, Poland's contribution in WWII, First Constitution in Europe, Polish army in Iraq. Then come back and speak.

Turn off your TV and US pop-culture media, because it makes a waste our of your brain.

  • @someoneinusa

You're right! Not Europe, but POLAND, is indeed an historical theme park. The USSR built a fence around Poland and claimed that it's the world's largest zoo! If you hate America, and our WW2 allies, then go back to Poland - and if not - shut up and love life and stop being a drag on everything that is beautiful in all of our short lives! Also, I love how you were first to insult me, and I not you, as that's what the uneducated do when in a mental corner. Take care my friend!

  • Wikipedia is a user-generated web-site, It's entire content has been added by end-users... put more simply, you or I could of writen the article about Poland being occupied by the Nazi's.

Wikipedia is in no way a reliable resouce for information.

Perhaps this explains your inaccuracy surrounding WWII...

  • @cheepchips

CHEERS! To this and to your other comments - even those about my country (USA) which I somewhat agree with.

  • I mentioned wikipedia, a popular interntet multi-language encyclopedia, because Americans use it. You do not read much to begin with, and the good original Polish sources are totally ignored by Americans and other anglo-saxons, who have an superiority complexs, and believe that anything that came outside of Great Britain-France-Germany-Italy does not count.

Anglo-saxon would marvel at the poop they make... but would dismiss the Slavic or East European feat, victory or any achievement.

  • @someoneinusa

My little Son is of Polish descent on his mom's side, and I actually RESPECT your culture and love your women. But, when you come on youtube and disrespect ALL other cultures, especially those who released you from bondage, and then live in the USA collecting OUR social security - I come to the conclusion that you're just MAD AT THE ENTIRE WORLD! I actually feel sorry for you, as in that I KNOW that you're educated - but you don't use that educated in healthy ways - be happy!

  • What "bondage you released us from"???

Noone released Poles, quite the oposite your arrogant crippled president, and this British pipe smoking ugly jerk, both have sold Poland to Stalin in 1945. Poland had to fight untill 1989 to free itself and other East Europeans.

US and W.Europeans are nothing but arrogant egoists.

Polish army was the 4th largest force in WWII on allies side, and Polish Underground Army (AK, AL, BCH) were the largest underground army in Nazi Germany occupied Europe.

  • @cheepchips

Don't let this pseudo-polak get to you, as I've read all of your and someoneinusa's comments. I am full Polish, and someoneinusa is full of him/herself, as well as full of racism, misinformation and POOP, while LIVING UNDER THE SECURITY OF THE USA and COMPLAINING ABOUT IT! I don't completely agree with what you've written about the USA, but I don't completely disagree either. Let's all just kick back, listen to the music and cut out all of this hatred towards foreign nations.

  • @someTHINGinusa

YOU are the TOTAL IGNORANT! My entire family came from Poland, to the United States, to find better lives, which we ALL did. Your romantic fantasies of Poland being any kind of dynasty is hundreds of years dead. Every SMART Pole knew this years ago and immigrated to the USA. You seem to have done the same, but now that you're on OUR welfare? Social security? Unemployment? (As you seem to have so much time to insult and hurt working Americans). Get a life and off youtube!

  • I suggested that he may of been ripping off "Piece of my heart" by ERMA FRANKLIN not because the Americans are better then the Polish but because the Americans invented Rock n Roll // Rhythm n Blues & were singing it first.

Niemen obviously enjoyed American music & was without doubt Influenced by it.

    Search youtube for:

    Niemen - Locomotion

    &/or

    Niemen - Hippy Hippy Shake

It's not called Subjectivity, It's called an acute knowledge of music

  • Rock, R&B, Jazz and Hip Hop might indeed be an American domain, but it does not mean that all good things in pop music have been or are created exlusivelly in US, or "it must be copied from American music"...

The fact that Americans have started something, does not mean that Europeans, Asians etc can imporve it or make it better. Yes, the Niemen song is in a Hippy rock tune, I am sure NIemen heard Joplin, but I do not believe he copied it. I would say his song is better then Joplin's.

  • I think these opinions of yours are superficial and deserve to be ridiculed by anyone who is more than an instance of stupidity--are you not liable to be dumb, to make a mistake in a given moment?? And if I were to see you in this moment...point and laugh at somebody...would I assume you're laughing at his tucked-in shirt?--No, that's ignorance, that's you thinking you know what thoughts are behind an individual's behavior--and to top it off...making that individual the representative for all!

  • You are right saying that not all (American) people are superificial or idiots, though many of them are.

Unless someone who is american knows me well, he/she is usually assuming the worst or underestimating me, based solely on the fact that I'm polish. I've met many including well educated people, who ridiculed everything Polish..

Besides they always were quick to krack a joke, make a dismissive or ridiculing comment about Poland, whenever I said something positive about my homeland.

  • Well my little Pole friend living in the USA, I can tell you that this song was writen within a YEAR of "Erma Franklins" "Take another piece of my heart" NOT 10 YEAR. So don't be quick to use others opinion as your own... it can make you silly!

And regardless to which came first they sound a like!

Americans didn't invent TV they didn't invent Radio nor did they even invent the Automobile BUT...

They DID Invented ROCK 'N' ROLL and Rhythm & Blues which this song is a clear descendant of my dear

  • Americans invented ROCK 'N' ROLL and Rhytmn and Blues.

    But....

Europeans invented Americans and Europeans created United States as you know it :)

So I think as your creator, Europeans are on the top!

P.S. Learn to win an argument without trying to belittle others...

  • You silly sausage, I am ENGLISH!

  • he sais, that he has (the same as you) his own city and in this city there is his most beautiful world and his most beatiful days (he sings about Warsaw, which he misses very much, he hopes he will come back there)

  • he sings about his city .. which is warsaw the captial of poland lulz

he sings aobut memories of it and the dreaming to come back to it

  • (L)

  • Po co piszesz troche po polsku ? troche po angielsku 0.o ?
