  • i knew this song as 'mimpi sedih' (sad dream) (sung by the late indonesian singer Broery Marantika, also covered by Emilia Contessa from the movie 'Akhir Sebuah Impian' (The End of a Dream) and was a top hit in Malaysia back in '75. I was pleasantly surprised when I discovered it was actually a Maori song in '84 when i ws studying in Auckland. beautiful song indeed. I hope those who wrote and sang the original got their deserved royalty.

  • A truly wonderful song sung by an amazing New Zealander. A proud man of his people and culture. His music bonded us and connected with both pakeha and maori. The feelings he stirs in our souls are truthful, without fear. As a teenager of that era I believe he contributed to the person I am today.
