That's very soon! I have a few students taking theri test on that day. I suggest you check out all the reading and writing tips on my website Best IELTS Online (the address is under the video)
Hi Alanna, thanks for all the good tips about the writing task's.
I have written IELTS test for more than 6 times, but could not clear, moreover the last time i wrote the test i got a score of 9 in reading,8 in listening,7 in speaking and 6 in writing and did apply for a re-mark but the results were same. i have question for you my mate's who cleared this exam told me that if your reading is good then your writing must good so my question is are they right?
@valorlion83 Well, I do believe that reading and writing go hand in hand and that reading a lot can help improve you writing skills. Unfortunately, it doesn't always follow that if your reading score in IELTS is good, then your writing must be too.
You might benefit from a teacher looking at your writing and advising you where to improve. I do actually offer this service so contact me via the contact page on Best IELTS Online if you think it might interest you.
Hello everyone, and thank you, Allana, for these helpful tips :).
I would like to ask, as I see some of you requested the re-check option, if it is useful to ask for this service or on the contrary, with some exceptions, it rarely changes the test results. I don't know,I'd like to have an idea about this option. I am not worried about my English level but I find myseld worried about all standards, structures and academic formalities, I don't want to lose points because of that!!! Thank you.
I can't predict what generally happens when someone requests a re-check. All I know is that you should be really sure your writing deserves a higher mark before you request one. Basically, when you request a re-mark, your writing is sent off to Cambridge and your scores and work checked. From my understanding, your score might go up, it might go down, it might stay the same; it all depends on the accuracy of the original mark.
I need 7 band each in four components but in my last exam I scored 6 band in writing and others was above 7, I was only scared of word limit as it was around 350 - 380 words in task 2 and task 1 was 160 - 180 words. However, after my exam I was very confident of getting 7. since, I try to follow the rules in the exam. For instance, planning, introduction includes topic sentance and thesis statement, Body with three different paragraphing and concluding statement.
Moreover, I finished my writing before the schedule time and recheck my work and also I am confident that I address the questions.
Hence, I send my result for recheck and waiting for the result.
Now, My question to you is, What do you think, how pupil should approach in the writing exam to get 7 band? What is the extra bit to enhance the writing skills to 0.5 band or 1 band?
Good Luck with the re-check. Without me actually seeing your work, it's impossible for me to say where you need to improve. How much lover than the band you needed was your score? How were your listening, reading and writing scores?
The answers to these questions and me actually seeing your work would enable me to advise you further.
