Only to recent Longhorn grads, since that game has been more important and competitive the last decade. It's a new-age rivalry; in the 90s and before, no one talked about this game. I witnessed that in the 90s, and my uncle and grandpa can vouch for it in the previous decades as well.
I agree that Aggies take it more seriously, just like Tech & Baylor take it more seriously against A&M. It's only "one-sided" in football, but few of the games are blow-outs when they should have been (UT the last decade, A&M in the 90s...most were close games). Also, who do you hold the Hex Rally for? NOTHING beats the Iron Bowl for a true, hated rivalry. The University of Alabama vs Auburn Polytechnic Institute, The Capstone vs The Cow College. Culture vs Agriculture. Serious family fueds erupt and last for generations over it. MILLIONS of dollars are spent between the two schools trying to gain any tiny advantage. The coaches jobs depend on it - LITERALLY - and even they usually hate each other's guts. The 2 schools refused to play for decades because of riots and perceived "injustices".
Co-workers badger each other relentlessly and refuse to speak for years or, often enough, even duke it out. Stabbings and shootings are not unheard of. Friendships are made and eliminated for life based on affiliation. Complete strangers trade heated insults in bars, restaurants, and even at weddings and funerals.
I'm telling you, unless you live in Alabama, you have NO IDEA what a COMPLETE football rivalry is all about. There is no equal. The Iron Bowl is in a league of it's own.
OSU/UM is the grestest. Mizz.KU who cares? UT and Texas AM is not as relevant because it is so lopsided. OU and Texas is a big game especially since the big 12 was formed, but I would think USC and UCLA is an honorable mention as is FSU and Miami, and Michigan/Notre Dame....Bama and Auburn I have to put at number two.

The coaches jobs depend on it - LITERALLY - and even they usually hate each other's guts. The 2 schools refused to play for decades because of riots and perceived "injustices".
