I still can't do it, weh! I have tried multiple times and it just won't work, could I be doing anything wrong?? I follow you word for word and it doesn't come out the same way... I am sad because I find this hair style to be very beautiful...
@lovelylola1313 It took me two months of trying it almost every day to get it to this point...and it still wasn't great, but by that time I decided that it was good enough. I did put up a faux crown braid tutorial...that one is much, MUCH easier and I think the results end up being a lot neater and better looking.
I watched this last night and tried it before I went to bed and I just want to say thank you. It turned out beautifully and it is solid enough to sleep on. I tried a different way and it took me almost two hours, when I did it your way I was done in ten minutes. Thank you again and you do have beautiful hair.
Lol Poor Torrin you look so really annoyed at the beginning of this tut normally you're all chipper and smiles. I guess the crown braid really ticked ya off. But needless to say it looks amazing and your hair is beautiful! Thank you so much for all your help!
Thank you Torrinpage! It worked on the first time! I'd tried from other videos, only to have a total mess. Whatever you do that makes it work, maybe doing it upside down, I don't know, but This One Works!! I started it on my weakest side (I'm right-handed and I did it starting from the left), so like you said, the second half is so much easier. Yippee! My hair is almost to my waist, but thin, and it still came out looking good.
so its like a french braid going up in the beginning right? how do you do it on other people...do you make them put their head down? sorry i just wanted to know so i can do it for my niece.
i know you said that crown braids are better on shorter lengths, but do you think that shorter-haired women will still get a good result with this specific technique?
the end result was lovely, by the way. utterly perfect, if i didn't know better i would have guessed it wasn't really your hair :]
You have the most beautiful hair I've ever seen! I have the curliest frizziest hair you'll ever see. I know how to French braid and Dutch braid, but do you think it would work with curly frizzy hair? I'd love to try this! Should I do it right after I wash my hair while it's still wet?
Whenever you braid, do you prefer your hair wet or dry? Whichever seems to work best for you is what I'd go with. It will totally work with curls; I've had a few people write in to tell me so!
i dont like braids myself, but this is very lovely. i can tell you worked very hard to figure it out. thank you for your time spent. i love your vids because you are open and honest, and dont try to make others feel like an idiot. i love it that you are plain spoken. i have hair past my behind and found this site while looking for great updos. thanks so much and God bless you.
I'm not sure, but I think somewhere between APL (armpit length) and BSL (bra strap length) is the best length for getting a good crown braid. I think I had so much trouble because I am beyond the optimal length.
I can see why you hate it. My LORD it's hard, and you have stick-straight hair that usually never snarls. I have very wavy to curly hair that snarls at the drop of a hat, so I have zero hope. ZERO. But you know what? Thanks for doing this anyway because it let me know that I can't. Knowing is half the battle. LOL
Girl, you crack me up! I like this, but like you said, the Elizabethan Hair Taping I think is better, personally, because it looks easier AND you get ribbon. But way to go! Very nice! :D

How long does you hair have to be to do this hairstyle? I looove it, but I only have hair that goes down just below my bust.
None129 2 years ago
Yours will be better, actually! I think shorter hair tends to like this style better than longer..APL to BSL is the optimal length.
