I pissed off my Mum with the facebook thing. She stopped me yesterday and said "I've just had a phone call from your sister... she's worried about you", Now they both already know but rather than being proud of me for being brave and not caring if I get started on for who I am, they are afraid that I'm causing trouble for myself. So far, no negative reactions from people close to me, past that people can say or do what they want until I pass. Just to say, here with ya on that one! x

im self medicating as well...and iv done some research and as long as you dont eat junk food all the time and you exercise often enough you will not have too much bad side effects, and besides exercise will make you less tired...and another thing, make a new facebook for who you are...i did and only my friends who know are allowed to be on it...my family do know but hate it, so i just wear hoodies in top of my clothes when im around them...its hard during the summer though...lol...xxx

Thanks for sharing with us. I hope you get a checkup to simply make sure your blood levels are ok. No reason not to, especially if you have not had any checkup after 10 mos. I know how painful it is to have to hide who you are. It's great you are getting closer to full time. Know your parents love you more than you can imagine, despite how sometimes you may not see it, and vice versa. Frequent small conversations over time can help get everyone to understand one another. They don't realize the reason I am so depressed is because every morning I look in the mirror and see a hair 19yr old boy looking back at me. I had the same exact situation I was away at school and I couldn't take it anymore I had to come out to my parents and I had to get help. :D

Probably the best way to get a job right now would be applying in boy mode. You could probably get some hair gel and slick your hair back and not look too girly. I had very long girly hair when I got my job, I just pulled it back and tied it up. After you prove yourself valuable and an asset to the company try transitioning and going full-time on the job. That's what I did and it worked out pretty good.

Self medicating is something we all have done at some Point in Time I guess.

I am guilty of it as well and I remember how scary it was not knowing what these Meds are going to do to my Body. I am in Transition for 2 years and Fulltime for 17 Months, I am very Happy now :)

You will get there too , just stay Persistant and Patient...

When I lived in Algiers (a burb of New Orleans) I had about a dozen transsexuals as my friends and neighbors. None of them that I talked to had ever gone to a shrink or a MD.

Most of them also used recreational drugs, like crazy. Of that dozen, only five are still alive. My best TS pal from those days died of heart failure.

Today, there is much more information for people to use for keeping their hormone regimes on a tolerable level. Blood tests are easy, cheap and

can be done at local labs.

You say that you are tired much of the time. Get your blood checked and:

1. Having T-blockers too high will induce "chronic fatigue syndrome", and depression. Either reduce the dosage of spread it out (take half after noon and half before bed, for example,

2. When people diet, they often do not get enough B-vitamins, causing fatigue or low energy. Try sub-lingual tabs of B-12, or combined B-6 and B-12, first thing in the AM, then again in the afternoon.

In terms of jobs, there's a big world out here that will accept you completely. The most important thig for you is to be happy and know that you'll get there, indeed you are there and so many good things will come to you. Just don't give in to sadness. Personally, I knew that if I didn't transition I would commit suicide. I didn't want to wait another 10 or more years and transition then. Like yourself I couldn't stand life as it was anymore and just had to do it. And regardless of my job loss or loss of people in my life I knew that those things did not out-weigh the happiness I would finally feel in my life.

Is there an LGBT center in your area? If so I bet you could get some info regarding a clinic where you could at least get some basic safety checks done concerning your hormones. You're looking really, really, good! :-)  Good luck with the job hunt!

I'm really lucky cause I live in a city with so many resources for any kind of person, really. Drug addicts, trans, homosexual, etc... Have you looked into what resource centers you have available? Those places tend to have TONS of information - such as where to go, who to see, etc. If there are none then...... Ouch. But, really, just look around I say. Try starting at a youth resource center. Even if they don't have what you need they probably have info on where to go.

Where you are sucks right now. My advice, get training to work in the medical field such as a dental hygenist, or medical office support. There is more tolerance for trans people in the medical community. Also you can plan on going to college/school in a trans friendly community. Hiding sucks. But be smart.
