  • one more claasic!! :)

  • i think i need some bigger speakers.

  • Few people actually know what this song is about.

So this is for the "haters" in the world:

I am the one in ten, a number on a list.

I am the one in ten, even though I don't exist.

Nobody knows me, but I'm always there.

A statistical reminder of a world that doesn't care!

  • @mikhailgoluboy Hallo,I was told years ago its about being out of work in the 8os,when thatcher the iron slag was in power, yes I do agree with your comments, but don't forget you are someone to your family and loved ones, all the best to you.

  • STILL LOVIN THIS ;-)

  • i like

  • hella dope!

  • Fantastic tune

  • Loveit

  • I prefer the original :-)

  • classic, taking you back

  • ooooow drops bad ass!!

  • love it

  • I fucking love 808 state, but for some reason I hate this song - the vocals, melodic structure and delivery irk me for some reason. It's just... whiny. It's still better than anything on the radio

  • is this song talking 'bout ' gay ' , 'cos the percentage of gay population is just 'bout that figure ? i don't know much , 'cos i am a real STRAIGHT 12 years old kid from hong kong ( my mum tells me hong kong is an ex-colony of good old ENGA-LAND)!

  • @919rickw it was about how many young people were unemployed in the 80s .one in ten.

  • @erictheviking871 : i stand corrected . also , some elder friends of mine later told me that the name of the band UB 40 had something to do with unemployment , unemployment benefit , form 40 . you could only get the dole by filling up that form .

  • @919rickw plus, according to legend, they all met in the dole cue in brum, if u owned the original album or cd it is a ub40 form, had both the "signing off" album this comes from (another dole pun) and present arms, its follow up.

  • Oh reminds me of Thatcher, Oops reminds me of the Con-Dems!

  • timelessness -- re re remix

Them Were The Days My Friends ;-)

  • kraftwerk - the model

  • @italoboy91:Could it be that there are Kraftwerk maniacs who hear Kraftwerk out of everything??Kraftwerk is NOT the musical centre of the universe,i´m German and know what i say.many Germans actually find Kraftwerk pretty boring.they are not so huge in influencing modern music,we had many more important electronic bands in Germany in the 70s:Neu, Cluster, Tangerine Dream etc etc BTW:the bass here is SIMILAR to "The Model", but there are several chords/notes totally different!

  • GR8

  • a complete bastardistion of a bloody good song !!!! they havnt even had the respect to include the verses 0/10

  • @irwin221 It's meant to be a respectful parody, a tribute.

  • I've seen this video a ton of times back in the day, yet I never noticed that the 'street evangelist' is Dieter Meier from the band Yellow, until now.

  • Vespaaas!!!

  • I love it !!!

  • This bass line is so deep and simple just like the beats. Its amazing!

  • @leandrobrou i agree

  • @leandrobrou The bass line is taken from "The Model" by Kraftwerk....I love 808 State but Kraftwerk are Kraftwerk!!!!!

  • @leandrobrou errr, just like Kraftwerks The Model ;-)

  • I cant understand why i loved this version so much, now i prefer the original.

its not as good i thought it was.

  • @Loopkidd sounds kooL! Apart from the blacking out. Maybe less Vodka?

  • classic

  • I noticed that there are a number of 80s and 90s bands staging a comeback these days. Does anyone know if 808 State might make a dream come true and come out with a new CD? Are they still doing shows in the UK?

  • Thy are doin very occassional performances in uk . I have been going to see them from the late eighties i have seen a lot of electronic dance acts Big names a\nd smaller and would consider 808 State TO BE THE BEST in the world , Merry christms From Liverpoool England

  • tune 5 stars

  • Scooters & The Rave Scene in Blackpool , 1990's Great Days..............

  • The 90s were the best!!!!

  • Hey,the bass line is Kraftwerk's The Model!

  • @realVeemon:could it be that there are Kraftwerk maniacs who hear Kraftwerk out of everything??Kraftwerk is NOT the musical centre of the universe,i´m German and know what i say.many Germans actually find Kraftwerk pretty boring.they are not so huge in influencing modern music,we had many more important electronic bands in Germany in the 70s:Neu, Cluster, Tangerine Dream etc etc BTW:the bass here is SIMILAR to "The Model", but there are several chords/notes totally different!

  • oh sh*t! the cops! act normal. dance in the brain. meet up at the 'meeting point'. all night for sure!

  • I've always loved this version. It sounds amazing.

  • ive got the album gorgeous, which this is off, never forgetten about 808 state. all their tunes are classics ad probably one of the very few dance acts to do rave/underground/ pop crossover

  • Hello Pauluk33,

The 90s are burned in mind with acts like 808 State that captured the energy of that time. I never forgot about 808 either. Everytime I see a clock and the time is right...8:08pm I think of them....every single time!

  • you too. my god i thought i was the only one. but then again when i see the clock at 8:08 i go "state are fucking great."

  • you have no idea...ok maybe you do, such a specific place in my life when this tune came out!

  • i love this t5mk1 and gp,s are the best =]

  • i seen these at a rave called the book of love, 808 that is! off my fuckin tits ahhhh memories

  • LOL you must be rich! Thats worse than me owning 3 Ford KA's and now I feel physically sick when I see one. ( same meat different gravy ) G8t tune x

  • Few of the lads from the lazy aces sc were in this vid, i should have been as well but couldnt go because of work commitments

  • Your correct - the one in ten is about the unemplyment rate.

  • What IS the "one in ten"?? A ex friend of mine said it was about abortion.. I said it was unemployment (hence..UB40) or being gay..

  • UB 40 is the number of the card that you had

when you went to sign-on at the dole office

  • i thought it was homeless ppl

  • all ub40s songs sound the same , but they did do a few songs that are ok like dont break my heart, and ummm ummm ummm lol maybe thats it

  • Clearly you dont know what you're talking about.

  • Total quality combination, 808 State and UB40 - great remix.

  • Much better than the shite they call rave these days.

  • Awesome!

  • i've looking for this like 10 years,thank you!

  • shakaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa braaa :]

  • yes loved it.

  • u gotta be tone deaf to not like ub40. Very talented group of individuals.

  • real good 808 state good rave times!!!!

  • Never liked UB40 , but State's remix was HUGE and way before their time in cuttin' up beats. This fantastic track proves it!

  • Great remix

  • blasphemus

  • Great video shot in blackpool with me mates on scooters

  • great rmix

  • great song and vid

  • 'One in ten' is a pretty political song..but still cool!

  • Top Tune. Anyone else remember a UB40 B-side track called 'Jungle Love'?

  • I always hated UB40, this one's pretty cool, though. The bass line reminds me of Krafwerk's "The Model".
