Yeah, I don't remember this one at all... IMO it's a little too serious for the Ernie & Bert dynamic. I felt really sad when Ernie keeps saying, "Do I really act like that?" It's a little too meta... I think this particular sketch wasn't rerun very often on purpose.

At least Ernie got the right idea! And I agree with the people discussing the annoying Bert & Ernie are Gay rumors. It's simply the way roommates act with each other, and some of their mannerisms are more childlike because the skits were designed for a kid's show. To tell the truth, they always reminded me of myself and my little brother or myself and my best friend.

However, it must be noted that Sesame Workshop--formerly The Children's Television Workshop--has consistantly noted that Bert & Ernie are not gay. They just live together as best friends and roomates & this is because the entire Street itself was originally based upon the stereotypical gritty New York landscape.

you know that is EXACTLY what they had in mind - to illustrate sibling relationships - the reason they are friends and not siblings though is to remove the parents from the dynamic so siblings could work things out with each other. E&B are GREAT!

Yep when I grew up in Tasmania in the 70's, Bert and Ernie were the classic Sesame Street Comedy Duo Skits, they were so funny though! We only used to had the 2 TV channels in Tassie to entertain us in those days and I could'nt hardly wait for Sesame Street to start at 8 O'clock in the morning on Channel 3 to watch those Bert and Ernie skits and I watch it again at 4.30PM in the afternoon! They were the BEST!! (Tassie) Queensland Down Under.
