Arent you forgetting the d-18. By the way, I have an hd-16r lsh and in my opinion, and some other peoples opinion, this guitar sounds as good or better that most new martins, and a bourgeois vintage dread.
@souleater0815 well you are right. The DXR1 Blows this Taylor off the stage,But the DXR1 Has as much bass as any D28, if not more. As far as The D16 line. The HD16 R is a great guitar, and the first guitar to ever have scalloped bracing. The HD-16 LS hole is twice the volume of the D28. The bass is out of this world. The even balance of all strings, with its clear highs and mids.Easy playing makes it a very great guitar. My opinion D16 lineis better. Except for.HD-28V HD 28MAR. different story.
Nice demo. I just don't care for the Taylor tone. WAY too tinny with ZERO bottom end. My DX1R Martin blows that taylor tone out of the water and it was under $500 bucks. What does that tell ya? I bleed Martins.
I tend to agree, all the Taylors I've played have No bass at all. But I like other guitars besides Martins too. That's not to say I don't love Martins.
I like some Taylor guitars because of the bright shimmering tones, but the bass response is sorely lacking. Martin gives you deep bass, a good midrange, and acceptable brightness. I prefer the deep, bassy Neil Young style sound in my acoustics which is why I play Martin.
I currently own a D-18 and I am going to buy either a D-28 or HD-28 in December.
Sounds and looks pretty. Enjoyed the clip.

Martin DX1R better than this guitar?
lol - you are nuts. The only good Martins start at the D-28. All the cheaper ones are stiff and have no bass response.

Your comments about Taylor bass are not true. You obviously have not played this (or many) Taylors.
