I had a couple of their albums and the songbooks. Used to often sing their songs with a bass/baritone in our church--"Rise Up O Men of God" was always well received. Unfortunately it was all destroyed in a fire in '97 and I haven't been able to find any music or piano scores. Thanks for the clip, Daryl. Rich Booker, Tacoma, Washington.
It was an Honor to know Hale and Wilder and Ovid Young their arranger. Bob was a guest in my Home a few times and had the priviledge to drive Dean from Birmingham to Mobile. My Lincon was leaning to one side the whole way.
Their voices were so perfectly matched. Dean sang " When God speaks" and just blew me away. I have fond memories of hearing them preform many times and sat on the edge of the pew the whold time.
You can find this CD by special order from Ambassador Baptist College Book Store of Lattimore, N.C.. It will cost roughly $26 due to a group buying them up when they went out of print.
I am happy to report that this CD is available through the Ambassador Baptist Book Store of Lattimore, N.C. . They have to special order it from a group who commandeered these when they went out of print, so it will cost you roughly $ 26 . You will find that the Ambassador Baptist College comes up under Hale and Wilder search on Yahoo.
These two Gents. were Great at what they performed. Many thanks to "Scarvervide" for posting this, and I hope more will follow of this album. Their gifts were great, and their working chemistry was near perfect. Tragically, Dean Wilder passed some years ago, but I believe Robert Hale is still with us.
What a breath of fresh air!! These men really set a high standard in the performance of the sacred hymns which are hard to find among performers and even in churches today!! i have a few of their LPs. Wish I COULD FIND THEM ON CDS!!! I WONDER IF THEY'RE STILL ALIVE? DO YOU KNOW?
Yes, they are/were very good in their performances of the hymns. Dean Wilder passed away September 30, 2002.
From what I have learned, their recordings are no longer in print. I bought 2 CD's through Amazon some time ago & when I went back some time later to try and purchase some others, I got the message of the discontinued printing.
Unbelievably gorgeous. This is possibly the finest male duo team to ever make a recording of any genre of music. Please post more. This recording is no longer available anywhere.
@scarvervideo There's a Christian radio ministry called Family Radio that plays at least some of their music. This ministry has also stated that the majority of their LPs are out of print. However, they have preserved all of it in digital form!
I know of the the radio station & what you have said about their recordings library. It is through that station that I came to know of Hale & Wilder & then sought out the recordings for purchase & found many on Amazon several years back.
Truly beautiful and inspiring. Once I was privileged to see and hear them in concert. They set the bar very high for Sacred performers. Very few can approach their level of greatness. Please, post more of their work. Thanks.
Thanks Scarvervideo - I love hearing these guys. Do you have any more to put up? Would really enjoy hearing it. I should have got more of their music when it was easily available but didn't.
Thank you for your post & I'm sorry I am just getting around to replying. I have not been able to spend as much time on Youtube as in the past & had some trouble with uploads for awhile too. I very much would like to post some more songs & I pray I will find some time before long.

Has anyone a copy of H&W singing "The Omnipotence"? Probably on an out of print album but I'm always surprised at what shows up on YouTube!

Whoa! Does anyone have a videoclip of a live performance of Hale and Wilder they would care to post on youtube?

@heesendr In light of your question, I came across a short clip of a Robert Hale recital piece from 2002-03 that I posted under favorites today.

Nice to hear the duo again. I heard them in an Oxnard, CA, church about
40 years ago. Used to have several of their LPs in my record collection.

I absolutely love Hale and Wilder! Too bad it's hard to find any of their stuff these days...

Yes it is a shame. Luckily I purchased the 2 albums just before they discontinued the printing. I wish I had purchased more before that happened.

@scarvervideo Ahh OK. I listen on the Internet and they didn't start displaying song metadata until recently due to legal issues. MGBU

Fbc Radio sometimes plays music of Hale & Wilder.
You can still buy "'Classic Sacred Solos (Volume 1)" and "Hale And Wilder -- Sing Christmas" at "oldchristianmusicDotCom".
I don't know who the people are behind Family Radio but they're proclaiming that Judgement Day will occur at May 21, 2011 while my Bible tells me:
"But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.'"
