i first heard this song when pavement was opening up for devo...i fell in love with the band and named all my dogs pavement, recently i have just moved out of my parents house and i dont have anywhere to take a shower so if someone could let me stay at their house i could make your something out of left over plastic laying around your house.

I also appreciate the Malkmunudity, as llynnowens pointed out. Watching Stephen looking predatory, being all faux-tribal on the side of a highway and jumping on pool chairs gives me a certain thrill.

I'd never noticed that before...they are pretty similar.  But that said, it's a pretty simple, classic-sounding melody, I suspect Malkmus and Elliott Smith aren't the only ones in music history to 'borrow' it.
