Good one, and thanks. This reminded me to look up spotted dick on Wiki.

Hmm...Wiki says there are many possible origins on the name "spotted dick". Maybe I should add to Wiki "Or maybe it was not a coincidence. Maybe it was so named because it actually looks like a speckled male appendage."

@mugwump666 Spotted Dick is a boiled pudding (in cloth) made of suet, flour and currants, served upside down with custard (or jam if you like).

Toad in the hole is a baked dish made of batter (like yorkshire puddings) with pork and beef sausages laid out, so it looks like a fat, flat square cake when comes out of oven. Served with veggies, onion gravy, and whatever you like!
