Most people use GCEA tuning but he was actually right in saying that ADF#B is the "standard." that is the traditional "standard" tuning for the ukulele. I think that is what he meant.
I have one, it's awesome. Retail is 499 but most dealers sell them for about $330+tax. For whatever reason mine was $279+tax. Total about $303.00. Martin is overpriced but they are amazing. Most Ukes are crap, this is an instrument. Kind of scary that my first guitar was $150. His tuning comes from a Martin & Co document that comes with the Ukulele. They state ADF#B as standard ukulele pitch. Tuning to GCEA seems widely accepted from what I've seen with ADF#B being the 2nd fret notes.
martins are terribly overpriced and without a doubt cost a fraction of what you're paying to actually make. But, as far as quality and sound go, they are the best out there and have been around since the inception of it's popularity.
I really hope I'm not the first guy to realize that Owen's tuning bit was off. "Standard Tuning" for all ukuleles except Baritones is G-C-E-A. Baritones are tuned D-G-B-E, like the top 4 strings of a guitar. I think Owen was thinking sopranos are tuned a full step higher than concert & tenor ukuleles but they typically aren't.
@RP1117 Yes, for sure. These are made in mexico using cheaper labour and are nothing compared to the old martin ukes of the past or even the high end ones martin will still make in the US.
agreed, thats such a ridiculus price for a ukelele, no one is going to buy ukelele for that much. this dude probably gets all the free gear he could ever use or want
you 've got to be kidding - who cares? I have a Carlos Robelli with all the same features & it was free oh damn, i didn't get a case. I guess that's what cost $300

300 dollars for the Martin name but in terms of quality this uke should be around 100 dollars

Yep,...and it's pretty funny too that at 2:54 into the video he plucks the G string (4th), and states:
"This string,.....the A" lol
If you're going to make an instructional video,......know what you're talking about. Probably just nervous though.
