I grew up playing Latrobe and have talked to Mr. Palmer several and times the reason he is the "King" is because of his attitude on and off the golf course. He will spend time to talk to a complete stranger or even to sign something and when somebody told him nice shot he would look you in the eye and say thanks. He understood that without the fans he wouldn't be making money and embraced them. Even at 82 years old he still comes to the club to eat and play and talks to members.
Arnold Palmer was a huge womanizer, He had more women than Tiger by a mile. But yet he is the king??? Cause he didnt get caught doesnt make him a saint!!!
Yoy simply can not say that a swing that won him 7 majors and 62 pga tour events sucks. You may say that you dont like how it looks, but it will not change the fact that Arnie's a true legend and a champion.
with a neutral grip the golfer can brake his hips at impact for a little extra clubhead speed. This is accomplished by straightening the left leg at impact but if palmer did this he'd hit a duck hook.
My Dad was a scratch golfer....he taught me how to swing a club at a very young age at Big Oak Driving Range in ER! Which of course would always follow with an ice cream at Carvel down in Panorama Plaza. The golf swing is a gift that my dad left me a very long time ago. Arnold Palmer was always his favorite! Thanks Dad and Happy Father's Day!!
Very interesting to see Palmer's swing. He looks to have a rather 'strong' grip compared with many pros today - V's pointing to right shoulder and showing three left hand knuckles at address. He also looks to have a flat left wrist at the top which, in conjunction with the strong grip, leads to the clubface being shut at the top - all this is somewhat similar to Senor Lee Trevino.
@chemicalkid100 I see it the same way, face slightly shut at the top.Guess that's why palmer was so succesful at the british open,he could bore his shots through the wind.
Arnold Palmer was the pioneer, the first player to bring to golf an athleticism that put the game on par with that of a contact sport. He attacked courses, ripping shots from the tee & fairway, rapping putts to the back of the cup, intent on trying to birdie each hole. He was, and is, the greatest, golf's King. No one compares - not Tiger Woods, not Jack Nicklaus, nor Hogan or Jones. Arnie was unique. He built the Tour. The best. The King,
@jstrat Yes, really. The two greatest PGA pros of all time: Arnold Palmer & Walter Hagen. They were the true pioneers who carried the weight & welfare of the tour on their backs, building it tournament-by-tournament while struggling from scratch to success. All the others came in their pioneering wake & prospered.

Yeah, and you're sitting at home making comments on Youtube.

@megaDogeatdogworld The only part of the swing that matters is impact. If you actually played golf, you'd probably understand that.
