Wow, what a lame and lackluster performance. Problem with these guys, just like many of the other bands releasing music at that time ('93-'95) is that they were a one trick pony. They tried to capitalize on that bouncy bass driven semi-funk sound but wound up driving it into the ground, which is why their follow up records sounded like rehashed material. Weird seeing the lead singer with a beer gut. He used to be a rail
@glendog1990 didnt move?? aww damn dude maybe drummer should have got up and ran around drumming, bassist should have done a few backflips, guitarist should have fucking bungeed, would that have been better???????????? Performance is based purley on movement......
Awesome vid, thanks for posting! It actually sounds pretty cool to be so close to the bass amp, you can hear all the subtle changes he's making. Yeah those guys know how to give a good show, pretty good live performers.
Yeah, it's obvious video (and mic) were close to the bass amp, but that's cool. If you wanna hear the perfect mix, support the band and buy their CD. If you are a bass player, trying to figure out the tab, this is a cool oppotunity that you couldn't get otherwise - I agree w/ Dumuzid.
To the previous poster, this IS the original lineup...Schenkman looks a little different because he has his beard in this video, but these are all the original Drs.
in next timE u taKe a sHot,..bE suRe that u are not neAr at the bAss AMp and hAVe sOme clEAr sPot ,.no oFfenSe mAN,..but u haD a niCE shoT heRe ..just the sOund only is noT gOOd =)
Don't blame the sound-engineer, blame the lousy sound on the cameraman for standing too close to the bass amp. =) Thanx for filming and posting though.
Yeah, I took this video; and as much as I appreciate your "thanks for posting" comment, I shot the video because I was so close and thought it would be cool to get some good shots. I'm CLOSEST to the bass amp, so: to EVERYBODY, the sound isn't bad because of the engineers (I am 1 myself), nor is it bad because of my camera (it was then a top of line Digital8 Sony Cam). I was standing close because I wanted to see a good damn performance. YouTubers: shut up & feel fortunate to have this. Thanks.
Hey man, sorry if I hurt your feelings, I just wanted to point out that the sound was the way it was due to cameraman's location rather than the engineer's lack of skills and I was just trying to be funny about it, which failed miserably of course. Once again thanx for posting otherwise I wouldn't have had the chance to watch it, and once again. Once again, sorry. Peace.
THIS is so FUCKING bad ASS. Email if you have any more of this!?! FTW!! Hail Satan! A beep deep a beep deep a bubba dubba dubba doo. I like to drink the menstrual blood of whoever gave birth to this. FTW?
Come on you "respondees" this was recorded on a handheld cam, probably about 3 feet from a 5KW stack of speakers, of course it won't sound like it did to the folks actually at the concert. Give the guys a break (but it is a bit slow).
"Lets play the song about 20 BPM slower than normal. That would be cool right?" Over the twenty years I don't think they came up with a band signal for "SPEED UP!"
Age doesn't have as much to do with it as you might think. Bad recording quality (for sure) and perhaps a bit of complacency on the part of the performers. They've been playing these songs for what, 20 years now? Great songs, but how inspired and hungry can they really be at this point? They done been paid for this shit already. I know lots of old farts who can melt faces and shred all over much of the young crop, but, let's face it old isn't really an in look right now.
Did'nt see them for a long time! with this clip they dont seem to be like they use be!!?? ''now the've got theirs pokets full of krip''... or maybe ther're just broked as i'am! I doubt it.
Well, those guys got me go thru my late 20 s with a nice groovy beat and a lots of punch!!
in the sound guy's defense, it sounded great at the actual venue; i was just up too close, in fact, right on the sub. i went further away at one point to hear it, and it sounded terrific. i would've slammed it had the live sound been like it sounded on this video, but being a live sound engineer myself, i couldn't have been happier with it there live and in person.
unfortunately they didn't perform it (to my utter dismay); i was even able to get some of my friends to coax the crowd around us to chant "Shinbone" right after their first encore...Mark laughed when he heard us, looked at Chris, and Chris just kinda smiled and shrugged giving us the idea that their setlist was already set in stone. oh well lol next time maybe
If only more people knew that Spin Doctors have so much more than the superb Two princes. Pocketful of Kryptonite is a blueprint for sweet, melodic, funky, good natured, timeless music. I think that they are arguably the most sweet, naturally gifted, genuine band ever. But, of course, that isn't regarded as 'hip' enough for most people since the mid 60s which is ironic as the Spin Doctors are as truly hip as you can get.
These guys jam man. If the lead singer wouldn't have lost his voice they would still be jammin. I ove this song. I used to play it when i first bought a car cd player and let it repeat forever. the drummer Aaron is the truth.
The way your previous post was worded gave the impression that you didn't notice the date on the video and you weren't aware of the singer's recovery. Either be clearer in your comments or quit telling someone to "get a clue" when they misunderstand them.
live versions by groups at an older age tend to be; plus maybe they just decided to play it chill at this tempo...either way, it's the Spin Doctors. period. that's a good enough reason to anything for me.
I agree. On the Homebelly Groove - Live album almost all the songs are slower then the regular studio albums. I found it most noticeable on "What Time Is It."
Er, the record is faster?
