  • amazing!

  • love tull and this song is just about perfect for your instrument.....great job ....more tull

  • Rob, I must say that you have been making quite a few ripples with the aspiring musicians who wish to learn the Chapman Stick. You are very talented and it must have taken a lot of time and dedication to to achieve your level playing. Kudos to you for the inspiration you provide to your viewers. You have also chosen to cover an artist who also inspires many. Keep up the good work!! I look forward to seeing many good things coming from you. Have you done only covers, or do you do some originals

  • @Webendowed Thanks very much for the kind words, I have released an album of original material called One Cloud, you can hear it at my website and I have videos of some of the material here on YouTube.

  • smile a little smile take away that black cloud on your shoulder..... one brown mouse sitting in a cage!!! awesome cover bro!

  • Why YouTube is so cool: A chilly October morning and my coffee is deliciously warm. I hear the wonderful voice of Ian Anderson sing, "That was the best cup of coffee I ever had." A YT search for "Inside" calls up other Tull songs, including one from an album I know nothing of, "Heavy Horses." The tune "One Brown Mouse" is interesting, but then there's a link to this video. And now I am in slackjawed, goofy-grinning awe. I know little of the Stick. I'm running out of characters, so thanks.

  • Amazing!

This is one of my favorite JT songs.

    Great sound and performance!

  • Nice performance it is always with big pleasure when im listening to you playing my favourite song with your amazing instrument Ian anderson must see u playing this song Congratulations mate!!!

  • Great song and wonderful performance.

  • That pretty sound suits that pretty song just right.

    Very nice cover!

  • Tull has always been one of my favorite bands. I'm not a musician but I've always enjoyed music. I'd like to thank you for this delicate and intricate rendition.

  • One of my favorite Tull songs. There's no way I could make that thing work. Good job.

  • really great ..never hear of a stick instrument .

  • This video made my day. I love this song so much and its great to see such a cool arrangement of it. Wonderful!!!!!!!!

  • Well done! always liked that song myself, a pleasure to hear it on stick. Thanks for posting.

  • First time I've seen one of these in action (hardened guitar fan). It's a fascinating instrument, and that is also one of my favourite songs, seeing as I am going through something of a 'Tull revival' period at the moment. You played it beautifully. You are a fine musician, my friend.

  • Brilliant! Nice to see you have so much Tull in your rep. Well done!

  • First time I've seen/heard a Chapman stick played and this is excellent. Great choice of song and the playing really does it justice. Superb mate!!!

  • i hate the stick, but you play beautifully this beautifull song

  • i dont like the tone of it. it looks fun to mess around with, but i could never just be a stick player. theyd be cool to just have sitting around though. i just hate their tone

  • One of my favorite Tull songs too. Great job.

  • A novel idea that winds up sounding unbelievable. Very nice.

  • This is brilliant! Nicely done!

And I thought that my guitar with 6 snares was hard to play.

  • Well, I called up any One Brown Mouse video while I set out to change guinea pig for vacationing daughter. He looks like one LARGE brown mouse. Little did I know I would get a beautiful instrumental version. I'm replaying it. Well back to work. Thanks.

  • nice sound and tune..... how much does a chapman stick cost??? how can i own one??? i want to order one ...i'm from greece

  • Thanks... look for the Stick Enterprises website, they ship all over the world and have prices on the website. I don't know of any Stick representatives in Greece, the closest I can think of is Virna Splendore in Italy.

  • how much do one of these cost? i want one

  • You make the most soothing sounds i've ever heard...

  • Wow. I've never heard of a "Chapman stick" before.

Great instrument. And great version of a great song by a great musician.

Did I use the word "great" yet?

    Gracias!!

    Thank's

    bietufful

  • great!!!

    how much is a chapman?!?!

  • $2,000+ for an eight string, I think? At least that's what they sell for at Ebay.

  • twitch your whiskers.... feel, that you're really real, another teatime another day older

  • Awesome Rob, your videos always delight me

  • I do not hold myself easily impressed by musicians, and tend to determine my favorites more by the virtuosity of performance rather than catchiness of tune. You, sir, fit the bill, and so far everything of your's I've run across has ended up on my favorites list. Well done. Very well done indeed.

  • great job!!

  • What a great instrument, very well played

    Claire

  • Wow, thats fantastic !!!!!!!!!!

  • Rob, just delightful - you are a natural!!

    All my best,

    Marcie

  • Rob you are surely the truest of Tullifidians! :D Great work my friend! LC

  • Nice arrangement. Great take. I recently subscribed (funny i thought i was already subscribed. oh well, i am now). keep up the good work.

  • And another jewel ... how do you know all of my early favourite groups, singers and musicians? More, more, more :-)! Jethro Tull made so many wonderful musical pieces, and you absolutely NAILED this lovely song. My, where is the darn sixth rating star if you REALLY need it?!

  • Very nice Rob, I especially love the right thumb technique. Now, I'll have to add that to my guitar tricks just to keep up.

I do wish this song had some Petrucciesque sixteenth notes at 260bpm though. Maybe next time?

  • Greg, you know very well that you amassed all the fast notes when we were roommates in NH. In fact when I try to play at 260bpm, all the notes are sucked out the window due to the sheer gravitational pull generated by your fast 16ths and 32nds. If you play 64ths we will all die!

  • True, I was very wasteful with notes back in the day as though I naively thought there was an infinite supply.

Seriously though, one criticism of this video is that the audio doesn't have enough ambient room noise to make it youtubeworthy. You're supposed to use the audio from the tiny little mic on the camera. That will provide a nice low S/N.

  • Awesome idea, in fact I could go one step further and not plug the Stick in at all, between that and the tiny mic it could actually be measured as a Noise to Signal ratio! That would be an amazing moment in YouTube history.

  • nice.

  • amazing! ... just absolutely amazing! =) ... very talented too =)

  • Your so amazing! :)

  • Very good mate. i saw Jethro Tull in peterborough, UK on Friday night for their 40th Aniversary tour, they played alot of stuff from tehir early 70's albums, and in Anderson at 60 is still prancing about on stage like a yungun on one leg. was a very entertaining evening. The chapman stick is very melodic, is it very difficult to play?

  • nice work bro. keep them coming. you are one of the few ppl i like on the chapman. keep it up.
