@PandaLaPanda I think the theme shown through johnny and the cigarettes is the old theme dont judge a book by its cover. Cigarettes how appealing they seem, are really poison inhaled to give temporary relaxation. they look good attracted we smoke them and kill ourselves. Johnny looks like a junky we judge him as such, repulsed, without the slightest understanding of his personality or intelligence. It also explains the world, we love and accept what we see, blinding ourselves to truth.
@PandaLaPanda understand, that is not what is being expressed through johnny's character, yes he looks like manipulative trash, but he is more, you can see earlier in the film that he was slightly troubled, abused, boy who finds escape in music, with a bad man for a role model, which leads up to him being a junky, but you can see that he is really intelligent as he had gone to an expensive school, Speaks impeccable english and plays wonderful piano able to make a meaningful observation.
When you say "this scene should have been cut" you obviously did not understand the movie.....dont characterise it as good or bad you dont have the right !!!! -.-
I know the name of the song, Schumann and it's called "Scenes From Childhood."
Here is the interview:
I read that you learned to play piano for RockNRolla.
I did, yeah. I absolutely did. I learned to play a piece... written by Schumann and it's called "Scenes From Childhood." And the reason I chose it was because he went mental; I mean, he lost his mind writing this piece. And unfortunately it didn't work out to be in the film, but the fingering's exactly the same
This is one of Guy Ritchie's greatest cinematic moments ever... the writing is top notch.... In less than three minutes you realize just how intelligent and deep Johnny is and the life he has led...
I think partly because he thought it was beautiful even though his step dad was looking it for it, he wanted to keep it. Didnt he say somewhere in the movie he originally wanted to sell it but he couldnt do it. He was attracted to the beauty of the painting even though his step dad was going to kill him for it. Just like drugs and cigs it starts sweet and ends bitter. . best i could come up with
He aint trash genius, of course as a fictional character. Think about songs that you might have listened too. Beatles some songs are about them on drugs LSD,etc. Bitter Sweet Symphony-The Verve, is all about heroine. Sadly, drugs can bring out the best in some, and in this case it worked for Johnny.
Still remains the worst kind. Not the worst one, but definetly the worst kind.
As to my stand about wheter he is or not fictional? I never mentioned that. I asked what does it say about him to defend that specific prototype of junky.
I can't be good to find this character so appealing to the point of insulting an actual person over critisism of the kind of person that he portrays.
I wish this would have done better in The States, to make sure he makes the other two. Warner Bros did a horrible job of advertising this movie in The States. I guess they didnt think Americans would like it. Which most probably wouldnt because for some reason its hard for them to understand, which i dont get its not rocket science to catch on to the different phrases the The brits use. But i think it will sell good on DVD by word of mouth. i hope its enough.
I watched this movie {and im from the states} And it is now one of my fav. Movies. Yeah Some terms wehere hard to get right away but ofr the most part It wasnt hard to keep up with
I dont think Americans would of like it as much cause of the terms brits used and they would prolly make fun of the movie as they are watching it cause of that
Great movie though should of had more publicity then it got
This is fucking amazing...
