  • "This is real professional wrestling. What it said on the marquee. Professional wrestling. It was a profession. No entertainment needed."

I'm fine with some of the entertainment side, but they've stretched it until it eclipsed the wrestling itself. Vince McMahon has all but killed wrestling. He's all but monopolized it and has decided to push "sports entertainment" exclusively. It's kind of odd though. If the product today didn't suck, I never would have discovered matches like these online.

  • Yaay my name is Pedro :)

  • I think this announcer is some fella who takes old WWWF and other feds tapes and dubs his voice over them... I forget his name.....

  • @mdhotstuff

    Jesse Ventura?

  • @seyvend no its some lame guy who could never get hired by any decent federation... he showed his face on some other tape.... he only has really old footage...

  • Pedro Morales was a former United States Champion in WWE, but why his name is not listed in the WWE United States Championship history reign in the WWE Website?

  • @fathomflaw at the time the WWWF as it used to be known had their own version of the United States Championship, the US title you see in WWE was originally the Jim Crockett Promotions/WCW version of the belt. The WWWF version is stricken from the history of WWE, why I don't particularly know.

  • You can hear a pin drop...they're going to riot!!

  • @BrianMilligan1 I agree...I only know about him because I did a lot of research on WWF history when I was young in the 1980s. It's a shame that he was on the downhill of his career when wrestling exploded. Most of the people who became fans in that era really don't know who he is...

  • @BrianMilligan1 HE ALSO RETIRED THE U.S. BELT. AFTER HE WON THE WORLD'S TITLE.

  • @BrianMilligan1 HE ALSO RETIRED THE U.S. BELT.

  • Just a big thankyou for putting this video up here for everyone to see.Pedro Morales is always under rated and its a shame as he was certainly one of the greatest crowd

    enticers ever in wrestling.

  • Damn Ivan was a fukin tank back in the day!!! No wonder he was the Russian bear!! I guess seeing him next 2 Nikita,Krusher & the POP all those years just made him look small. These r 2 of my all time faves and Vince needs his ass whupped not having uncle Ivan in the hof yet

  • @BrianMilligan1 Pedro was also US American champ here.

  • captain lou albano

  • who's doing the voice sounds famila?

  • Pedro sure did like to clap alot during his matches. I wasn't watching wrestling yet during his WWWF title reign, but I noticed it years later during his I-C title reigns.

    Clap on. *clap clap*

    Clap off. *clap clap*

Clap on, clap off...Da Clappa! *CLAP CLAP!!*

  • This is clipped to all hell.

  • @BrianMilligan1 Austin sucked.

  • r ivan and bruno friends??????

  • I hope that one day Ivan Koloff will be put in the WWE Hall of Fame. He is a former champion and has also been successful in every territory that he wrestled in. I've seen him in Georgia and Mid-Atlantic and seen video's of his days in Florida. I do remember one match against Porkchop Cash. Here, he is a transitional champion like The Iron Sheik would be 13 years later between Bob Backlund and Hulk Hogan.

  • @mkl62 ... Ivan was one of the greatest wrestlers around. He did a lot for the sport. I watched Ivan from day one. Bruno saw something good in Ivan.

  • @mkl62 I agree, i would love to see him and Backlund in 2011.

  • @malfoy2 With the next Wrestlemania being in Atlanta, that would be the perfect place for Ivan to be inducted. He was tag team champion twice in Georgia, once with Ole Anderson, and then with Alexis Smirnoff. I remember promoters asking them not to bring Russian flags into the arena, because that was after Russia invaded Afghanistan and tensions between the US and Russia were high. They were afraid that a crazed fan would attack them.

  • 1971

  • I rank the 5 greatest champs in this order:

    1) Bruno Sammartino -I don't think this is really arguable.

    2) Hulk Hogan -the most recognized & successful wrestler of all time.

    3) Bob Backlund - almost 6 years as champs. These are the big 3 of all time. No 3 have ever held on to the belts or carried the company longer.

    4) Superstar Billy Graham - Greatest heel ever. First heel to NOT be a transition champ. Revolutionary.

    5) Pedro - watch the video! Held it longer than anyone but the BIG 3.

  • interesting. may i make observations: bruno? to say he's great cause of longevity of reign will always be arguable.saying a champion is great by how frequent he defends title, is Bret Hart. hogan? 4 years but protected champion + defended against major threats at ppv's. backlund, no doubt. i'll say this, these men you name, more class the game (by game i mean sleeping with boss's daughter, marrying her, doing WHATEVER boss says by helping in montreal screwjob or necrophilia storyline)HHH

  • Comment removed

  • 11 years. Hogan's total accumulative reigns add up to 2,185 days (he is #2 on the list of longevity). Bruno is nearly double at 4,040 days. And that's with TWO reigns. Hogan had 3x as many with 6. That's over ELEVEN years! As far as I'm concerned, that ends the argument. In terms of GREATNESS, I could measure by no other standard. Bruno is the GREATEST champion.

  • unfortunately i cant say if bruno had quality of competition, simply am not old enough lol i can say that hogan had quality, he just refused to face it. example:vs andre at mania III, fine. rest of the year, he faced a past peak harley race, going nowhere butch reed, and already had 1 program with bundy. bret would defend on a monday against michaels, tuesday against razor, take wednesday off for travel and then thursday against shango, travel and then do it again on the weekend. impressive

  • Nor am I. But when you look at WIlt Chamberlain's 100 pt game, and his 62 season where he averaged 50 pts a game....FOR THE ENTIRE SEASON, it's hard to argue is the deadliest offensive threat of all time. As for Bret..no one loves the Hitman more than I do. I've met him twice. Got a picture taken with him. Believe he is the single greatest in-ring performer of all time. His matches are masterpieces.

  • to me, the greatest performers of all time are bret hart, rick steamboat, ted dibiase(who may be the greatest technical wrestler ever)and adrian adonis(i miss him so much). pedro was not only a great world champ by ic champ too.

  • My top 3 is almost identical. I would only replace DiBiase with Shawn Michaels. I have to admit, the guys in ring performances are unbelievable. DiBiase is a legend, but I don't think he has ever put on some of the masterpieces that the other 3 have. But I agree, he's up there in the rankings.

  • i personally met dibiase on father's day in 2002(he is a minister and was at my church, as i had both lunch and dinner with him, amazing!)dibiase was the old school slower style tech wrestling where shawn is the high flyer. i dislike shawn personally because of how he lied to bret hart's face, saying his "hands were clean of this" referring to the montreal screw job

  • I agree. HBK was a terrible person. But he has since become a Christian & changed his life, so that makes me glad. You can't take away his ability. He is indeed a showstopper. I strongly disagree with going along with the screwjob, but HBK has gone out of his way to reconcile with Bret & Bret refuses to believe Shawn has changed. Bret does have a lot of bitterness & Shawn points out the destructive nature of it on Off The Record, which is probably on youtube.

  • if you by chance find that off the record interview, let me know. i'd appreciate it, would love to see it

  • If you saw Ted before he came to Vince in 1987 you may have a different view. The Million Dollar Man gimmick was horrible to me, Ted was so much better as a kick ass heel in the NWA with the loaded glove, and teaming with Steve Williams that it's not even funny !!!

  • Bret is so overrated to me it's not even funny !

  • Then you understand nothing about wrestling.

  • No I'm just a 33 year wrestling fan who knows what he's talking about.

Obviously you just started watching about 10 years ago ?

  • Oh please. Since my childhood years.

January 27, 1990. I remember the day. Saturday Night's Main Event. Hullk Hogan & Warrior vs. Mr. Perfect & the Genius. My world changed when I saw it. Though barely being a child.

  • Dude you don't have a clue ! I was going to the matches when you were farting in your diapers !

And look at the shitty match you point out as you childhood memory. The WWF in the early90's was the shit's !

  • That's pathetic. You think because you're geriatric, you suddenly know something about the business. So your mom must know more than you. And that match was great drama, unlike the garbage on today. But to question the wrestling skills of Bret Hart, shows that no matter your advanced age, you know nothing! You can go back to your NWA BS.

  • Bret Hart, next to Mick Foley, is one of the most overrated wrestlers of the past 25 years ! He's a larger version of Dean Malenko. Solid worker with no charisma, no promo ability.

And my mom wasn't a really big fan so I do know more than her as well as you jr. So stick to your early 90's cartoonish non wrestling WWF BS which was the low point of the WWF in the last 25 years !

  • Are you one of those angry regional, small-wrestling fans who thinks the WWF is the worst thing that ever happened to the OLD FLorida promotions & garbage like that?

Bret Hart's matches were masterpieces, and for all the so-called lack of charisma, YOU'RE still talking about him 20 years later. Good stories are good stories, and good storytellers make them happen. & Bret is the best. Vince confirms this.

& yes, I hate to burst your bubble. But wrestling is fake. stories

  • Nope, born and raised here in NYC all my life !

Hart's matches were snooze fests ! He had no charisma son, and I'm only answering your coment about him. I could care less about Mr. Screwjob.

    And you're kidding right ? Wrestling's fake ?

  • So you've never been a big wrestling fan ? Go watch some Mid-South or Georgia Championship wrestling from between 1982-1985 and you'll see how good Ted was !

Stop jerking off to your Bret Hart posters and expand your wrestling knowledge a little.

  • Hey SParky...this ISN'T wrestling. Don't cry, but REAL wrestling takes place at the Olympics. Your pathetic nostalgia for your little childhood heroes nobody heard of isolates you further, in addition to your own ignorance. When you can't recognize the in-ring & storytelling brilliance of people like the Harts, Curt Hennig, HBK, etc. You show yourself to be anything but a WRESTLING fan. Your just a fan of your own pathetic little southern memories. And youre alone on that one.

  • Real wrestling also takes place in collage and high school Jr.

The fact that you don't know your pro wrestling history pre 1990 is your problem. Just cause you don't know Sammartino, Race,Brisco,Backlund,Bockwinkel,Dory Jr. ect I won't hold it against you.

Hart couldn't tell a story if he had a book in his hands ! He's overrated and if it wasn't for the Screwjob who'd care about him ?

  • Why do you keep talking about this Ted?? Who is this Ted you're obsessed with that I haven't even mentioned to you?? Talk to me about jerking off to someone. Is this Ted your boyfriend? You keep telling me how good he is.

  • Ever hear of Ted Dibiase, the guy you mentioned in a prior post ? I understand you go all the way back to 1990 but please !

  • And yet my knowledge extends decades beyond yours. I'm glad you have this arcane notion that to know something, you had to have been a first-hand witness. So by that logic, you have no idea who the first president of the USA was, right? You only go back 33 years. Brilliant reasoning.

I think it's safe to say I know of the DiBiase wrestling family. Ted is one of the greatest ever.

  • Well by your logic since you go back to 1990 then I do know more.

And by reading your posts I'm sure you're not familiar with the Dibiase family, except for maybe his son wrestling today.

  • Ok, so clearly you never took a philosophy course. You claim that since by LOVE for wrestling started in 1990, that I could not possibly have knowledge of wrestling events prior. By THAT logic (YOURS, not mine), since you did not live in 1776, you could not have knowledge of the Declaratio of Independence. Do you follow? Or am I going too fast?

Not to mention you completely avoid the actual fact that I LIST Ted as one of the 10 greatest ever. Seriously, do you just make up your own facts?

  • Bruno had GREAT competition in his day. very high quality. There was Don Leo Jonathan, 6'9", 340lb. great ametuar with a huge standing drop kick, Gorilla Monsoon, 3 time NCAA Heavyweight Champ, Lou Thesz, What can we say, Ivan Koloff, Pedro,Big Bill Miller & not enough room to mention all of the other greats Bruno took on. Bruno only had 2 or less days off a month. So, He wrestled more than 360 days a year. I agree about Hogan, But I am not a fan of the Harts or anyone associated with them.

  • Look on Bruno. The guy refused the NWA title cause he wanted some time with his family. Here for the REAL NWA champion, Bruno Sammartino!

  • While Bruno never wrestled 360 days a year he also did wrestle greats such as Bill Watts, Killer Kowalski, Spiros Arion, Ernie Ladd, Stan Hansen, Billy Graham, ect.

  • Pretty close. He did wrestle at least 350 days per year. He had 1-2 sundays off per month because he wrestled on Frank Tunney's big shows every other Sunday in Toronto & some times he did wrestle on other Sundays. At least 350 per year

  • @Stugazza Not even close but whatever.

  • We are talking his first 8 years as champ. He wrestled AT LEAST 350 per year.

  • He never worked 350 days any year as champ, but whatever.

  • I just did the math. I was wrong. He would have worked about 335 days per year. He has said it himself that he worked that much. Watch his DVD's & you will hear in every one that he worked about that many days.

  • @Stugazza ... Don't forget the greats like Waldo Von Erich, Toru Tanaka, Bulldog Brower, and all the others like them. The 60's and 70's was a great time for wrestling.

  • Bruno had tons of great & different competition. You are correct Ranger. Also remember Apache Bull Ramos, Bill Watts, Bobby Duncum and yes on 2 occasions, Bobo Brazil!!!

  • @breannaelliott1 Bruno certainly had good challengers. Here's a short list: Giant Baba, Fred Blassie, Killer Kowalski, The Sheik, George "The Animal" Steele, Bill Watts, Prof. Tanaka, Gorilla Monsoon, Crusher Verdu, Ivan Koloff - and that's just some of them from 1963 - 1971. From '73 - '77: Stan Hansen, Baron Von Raschke, Ken Patera, Bobby Duncum and Superstar Graham. And Bruno worked at least 4 nights a week, not just in Boston and NYC, but smaller towns too. Hope that helps you.

  • @Sage80 Only disagreement I have with you is Pedro. I liked him and all, but Lou Thesz held the NWA belt in one term almost as long as Bruno (almost 8 years). If you're talking strictly WWWF/WWF/WWE, then I agree with you.

  • @elc1960 WWE is all that matters.

  • @Sage80 actually, before 1984, the NWA title was more important than the WWF title. Hogan took the WWF title (and the WWF itself) to a whole new level.

  • @josephD32 to hicks in the south maybe. not to the real world.

  • @Sage80 Sure. If by "hicks in the south" you mean such places as St. Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, Washington DC, and yes... Boston, Philadelphia and New York. The WWWF rejoined the NWA in early 1971 and was a member of the NWA until late 1983, and often featured NWA World Championship matches at Madison Square Garden, often title-for-title matches against the WWWF Champion.

Again, notice I said "before 1984". Yes, afterwards, the WWF became the big player. I grew up a WWF fan.

  • @Sage80 What an ignorant comment. Especially when you consider that from 1971-1983, the WWF rejoined the NWA and the WWF Title was stripped of its "WORLD" status, and became essentially a territorial title, subservient to the NWA WORLD Title.

  • @Sage80 I call bullshit on that one. You obviously aren't a true wrestling fan with a statement like that.

  • @FragaLegacy only if you define wrestling as NWA crap. I don't.

  • @Sage80 What a fucking troll, you don't know jack shit about pro wrestling then...

  • @FragaLegacy get back to your boring southern shit. don't bother real fans.

  • I'm a pig in slop watching this! I wish wrestling was like this instead of the r-rated theatrical garbage it is now. I would at LEAST be happy if they released more of these matches for old-schoolers to enjoy.

  • what bothers me the most is we will never see a classic match for the heavyweight title like this again. ivan was great and pedro was one of the greatest wwf champs ever, and the first man to will all 3 recognized wwf titles

  • wow. this match is obviously historically significant, but not a 5 star classic. for you to say there wont be anymore classic title matches is a very stupid thing to say. simply look at the north american indy scene and japanese wrestling for the best matches around today.

  • you being an authority on stupid things, right? however i will look more into the indy scene, although i thought it was painfully obvious i was referring to the wwe only(well, obvious to some anyway)

  • wwe has actually been having some damn good matches for the title in the past few years. not very many but still some good matches. it depends on your taste for stipulation matches for the titles, but there have been some good regualr matches for the title. i do agree that the absense of 'classic' matches isnt good, but wwe is no where near as bad as some put it out to be.

  • well lets see-lesbian storylines, necrophilia, dropping people 68 feet to their death, and 2 hour broadcasts that have 31 minutes of wrestling and 1 hr 8minutes of skits and trash talk. only wish turner and bishoff could have finished these jokes off

  • lesbians: its entertainment. ellen degeneres is a lesbian and she is entertaining. i dont see you complaining about her.

necrophilia: happened once and was dropped. are you telling me you didnt laugh your ass off at triple h humping a "dead" manequin?

people dropping 68 feet: not a storyline.

2 hours of entertainement; this is pro wrestling. you need a decent build to a match and without the entertainment factor a lot of these promotions wouldnt be around

  • no i actually didn't laugh at the promoter fed hhh degrading himself(the only good thing i'll say about kane is he refused to do it)

i guess that is the difference between a sports entertainment fan(you)and a traditional wrestling fan(all other intelligent wrestling fans on youtube)

a decent build-so ya need a 20 minute trash talk segment to build a 6 minute match? o.k. got it/please...

  • you dont know me. dont tell who i am.

  • and thank God for that, as I now block you and your no-knowledge of wrestling comments

  • YES!!

  • Remember that Pedro was the U.S. American champ at the time he won the World Title.
