First off, I'm not making fun, so please don't take it wrong, but now if there was something that would enable totally blind people like myself to mowe the lawn, that would be awesome. I'm thinking of going to school for small engines through the Lions club.
Thank you SO MUCH for answering! That's kind of you! I'm going today to see if I can "test drive" a few ... hoping I have enough "arm strength" to do so!
@TheJeffDGorman Any zero turn mower should be hand controlled only. Some may have a foot operated lever to lift the deck though. This particular mower is a Exmark.
Nice video. Thanks for sharing. I'm a C 5-6 Quad. Would be great if you could share with us on our social network for sci's . google "pushrim" you will see "life after injury". Take care :)
i use that mower i use that mower!!! me and a friend have a business and we have one just like that and a walker. i prefer this one cause the controls dont hit my legs haha awesome transfer!
i think we're getting ready to trade this one off, or i might buy it off the folks while they go get a new(er) one. this thing is awesome, i beat the crap out of it!!!!
yeaahhh... they didnt clean up snow and ice around campus for like a week haha thank goodness classes were cancelled. so.. we aint got a quad here, but i have found that it is quite fun to have friends pull you around on a garbage can lid hehehe
@Plowboy68 i know. daanggg... its just now gettin to where it'll be warm some days. but it ticks me off that the week i came home for spring break IT SNOWED. haha it had been all in the 60s and 70s and mess...then s n o w.
so inspiring! my father fell from the bucket of a bobcat 2.5 months ago and is now a quad. i'm doing research on quads being able to mow. he has a ranch and one of his loves is getting on a riding mower. have you heard of any quads being able to mow with a specially equipped mower?
Hey I'm a para and thats cool someone else is riding lawn mowers too. I own a business and ride walker mowers. They are a little easier to get on because the controls are a lil dif.
Do you attach and carry your chair along with you as you mow or leave it there? I would be thinking of ways to have it along in case the mower stalls when you are are 200 yards away.
I suppose I could. But everything is just a phone call away. Ran out of gas last year, called the neighbor, he came down and got me my chair... no big deal

what is the name/company that makes lawnmowers that you don't need your feet for controls?

The older Snapper Zs have joystick control so the two sticks would not be in the way.

Nice transfer, the Snapper Z has a joy stick making the sticks that are in the way a none factor. Look into it, works great!

I do anything to avoid being helped or rescued if I can. Not having my chair with-in reach makes me uneasy.

Like that you wear shoes instead sneakes, like most para's. I wear socks most of the time. Why carry shoes?
cripguy 4 years ago 15
way more protection than socks. Plus you wouldnt wear socks to work would you? Or to mow the yard?
Plowboy68 4 years ago
very good, congratulations! maybe i can do it too, just have to try it.
