You're right life is not a fairy tale, but who is any parent to ruin such dreams for little girls. Therapeutic you say????? Certainly not for a little girl. That is something you do on your own, not drag your children into. The fact that you think it's funny and you're actually defending it is ridicules. Again, get some help, any professional will tell you it's not healthy to drag your precious little children into your battles.

Little girls should be dreaming of weddings and playing with babies and such not watching their mother burn a wedding dress Do not have any idea what kind of effect this will have on her later in life. Grow up and get some help.
looks like that was great fun - my cousin burned her wedding dress after her divorce, and they sure do go up well. Shame it was a lovely dress though.
The girls obviously enjoyed the spectacle and in was educational as well! Bit of science with things melting and burning...
