As far as the Islamic world during the middle ages, I have to say that the golden age of Islamic world was during 700 AD to 1200 AD and started after the coming to power of the Abbasid dyansty. This golden age is more than anything else Persian rather than Arabic and Turkish. Arabas and Turks were not advanced societies at the time. The tolerance was mainly during this period.

Israel never held up their end of the bargain. They did evacuate Gaza, but they didn't allow the increased supplies through that they promised, which resulted in Palestinians starving and people dieing because of the lack of medicine. Hamas may have broken the truce by firing rockets, but the Israelis were breaking the truce from day one. Not to mention they started bombing the supply tunnel to Egypt, necessitated by Israel not allowing the supplies though, before the rocket fire kicked back up.

As far as the Islamic world during the middle ages, I have to say that the golden age of Islamic world was during 700 AD to 1200 AD and started after the coming to power of the Abbasid dyansty. This golden age is more than anything else Persian rather than Arabic and Turkish. Arabas and Turks were not advanced societies at the time. The tolerance was mainly during this period.

It is also largely on Israel they always say that they want talks, but when talks happen they don't budge on anything. They want nothing less than a unilateral surrender by the Palestinians. Israel is as much a problem as anyone.

Israel never held up their end of the bargain. They did evacuate Gaza, but they didn't allow the increased supplies through that they promised, which resulted in Palestinians starving and people dieing because of the lack of medicine. Hamas may have broken the truce by firing rockets, but the Israelis were breaking the truce from day one. Not to mention they started bombing the supply tunnel to Egypt, necessitated by Israel not allowing the supplies though, before the rocket fire kicked back up.

They weren't. The Israelis were intercepting Arms shipments even before they left Gaza. Search PLO Arms smuggling Karen A and you'll see what I mean. There is no middle ground in this debate. Even those who Claim to stand on middle ground, don't. Either you are for Israel, or the PLO. The fact remains that for anything to get done there, the PA must now start to implement Oslo. They havent in any way. Israel has at least made Some effort. The PA Hasnt, or you would have enumerated their efforts.

I think it is horrible that we don't pay more attention to the African violence. These Arabs in Gaza don't have much of a choice. Egypt doesn't want them. Jordan doesn't want any more of them. No one wants them. Hamas provides some medical care and food and some monetary help for the population there. More than anyone else but the US and Israel. The people could choose Fatah, a failed politcal party, or Hamas, financed by Iran to provide both sustenance and mayhem for the Gazans. Same as Hezbollah in Lebanon. Iran finances terrorism.
