  • Finally - an American names the elephant in the room: Grossly overinflated military spending.

  • 'military construction' ...hey, Kay B-H, which contractor are you fixin' to lobby for when your run for the governorship fails?

  • It's funny that these Rep. didn't have any problems spending all that money on the Iraq war.

  • We can't spend this money. There's a very simple reason: it doesn't exist. We'd have to print it and de-value the dollar. It doesn't have far to go before it collapses. Neither Democrats nor Republicans - nor their supporters - seem to understand that.

  • "It's more than we spent on all the wars since 9/11" -- I love that line! And it's actually not true, we've spent more on the wars...

  • Cobweb, How much have we spent, then?

  • As of October the tab was $860 billion on both wars. But when you include the long term costs, like caring for injured vets, the predictions are 2 to 3 TRILLION. Remember when Iraq was going to cost $3.5 billion and it'd be funded by their oil revenue?

    Here's 10/2008 congressional report:

    fas( .)org/sgp/crs/natsec/RL33110(. )pdf

  • cobwebhead--don,t forget your tin foil hat when you go out doors-Why don't you just open your mind and shut your mouth, both are empty anyway.

  • Clever retort! Void of facts, full of emotion and projection. You perfectly fit the GOP profile. Go Palin!

  • Steele's comment is so hypocritical. He "doesn't have time" for the "typical Democrat name-calling and obfuscation." Isn't THAT name calling? Jesus. What a dope.

  • No tax cut builds a road, no tax cut puts a cop on the street, no tax cut educates a child... + war in Iraq comment = Barney just owned 90% of the political opinions out there

  • "No tax cut builds a road"

A proper function of government. Good point.

"...no tax cut puts a cop on the street..."

Local taxes - not federal taxes - pay for cops. A federal tax cut could in fact put more cops on the street.

"...no tax cut educates a child..."

Pure bullshit as anyone who has a child in a vastly superior private school can tell you.

  • Why do the guys on the losing side get to dictate the contents of this bill. I say fuck 'em, just like ol' Dicky Cheney told Patty Leahy.

  • I *loved* Barney Frank's comments about spending in Iraq versus spending at home. No one blinks an eye at the billions we put into defense spending, but all of the sudden, spending some money on roads is "socialism"?

  • There's nothing to love about it - both are sickening. The non-stop, drunken spending orgy in Washington - under both administrations - has already signaled the end of America as we have known it.

This is not opinion. This is fact.

  • It's opinion. Any time you use the words "non stop drunken orgy" and "end of America" in a sentence, it's opinion. Also, the fact that a lot of people disagree with you, means it's opinion. It may be a correct opinion, but you can't call it a 'fact'. :)

  • "Any time you use the words "non stop drunken orgy" "

What do you call quadrupling the national debt to $11T not counting the $1T deficit for 2008 and the $7T loaned out by the fed?

Calling it "Profound fiscal irresponsibility" does nothing to change the numbers which are fact.

    "end of America" ...is opinion.

Look @ FDR and the New Deal - the end of America as she was before.

Same thing now. Again, fact albeit stated loosely as is standard youtube decorum.

  • i fucking hate the new RNC chairman guy,

saying that the opposition is doing all the name calling IS IN FACT NAME CALLING!

  • Barney Frank is one goofy dude, but you gotta love those points he was making. They're finally trying to spend money on the right things and Republicans suddenly get thrifty. And there are plenty of tax cuts proposed in the bill, but Republicans worry about them going to the wrong people.

  • It would be hilarious if it weren't so serious. Check out the tax break stuffed in by dems for people who invest in big budget movies.

I'm not making this shit up - google it.

While we teeter on the edge of bankruptcy and Great Depression 2.0 the Washington pigs are still doing favors and taking care of political paybacks in the most important bill of our time.

Does anyone know where the 1st $350B of the bailout went yet?

  • I'm kinda offended by the break for movie production companies, but it's understandable. The film industry employs a ton of people, good movies raise the morale of the country, and like or not, Hollywood is one of our major exports.

I'm guessing Dems put that stuff in as fake concessions to make grouchy Repubs feel like they've done something. Dems pretend they tried to help supporters, Repubs act as a filter for the most wasteful bits, and this thing gets passed with or without their help.

  • Did token Steele say they Democrats are putting up road blocks?!? Did he say they crazy?!?

And did "that guy" ask Kerry if that no republicans vote for the bill and it passes would they consider it a failure? Yes it would be because if you can't get the people who caused this miss to get on board with fixing things man, we are so screwed LOL

  • Yes we are all screwed. Hello banana republic of the untied states.

  • Republicans are completely irrelevant. They lost. They should shut up and go away. They caused this problem, and we do not need their help fixing the mess they created.

  • And we don't need Democrats following.

  • "Republicans are completely irrelevant. They lost. They should shut up and go away."

And takes the dems with them. Rid of these fucking pigs we might just rebuild this country before it's too late - assuming it's not too late already...

  • Hearing the one reference to spending on military construction was a laugh. For the last 30+ years, there's been an ongoing effort to shut down military facilities.

The Cheney-Rumsfeld-Wolfowicz legacy to the nation for the last eight years has been to downsize, outsource, retire off, and disempower government employees in general, and the DoD in particular, civilian & uniformed alike.

  • "The Cheney-Rumsfeld-Wolfowicz legacy to the nation..."

You left out 4,238 dead, 30,182 wounded US soldiers and around 151,000 dead Iraqis, no stability in Afghanistan, a reconstituted AQ, American global prestige in the toilet, a crushing and still swelling war debt and some $2 trillion missing at the Pentagon.

Other than that, bang up job from the PNAC boys.

  • Boy I'm glad the republicans aren't in charge anymore. Everyone else should be too. They don't want to spend less, they just want to keep throwing it into Iraq! Haha! They are absolutely nuts! I'm just glad they aren't relevant anymore. They can't do their crazy shit anymore.

& Peacenik makes a good point-where was all this talk during the wall street bailouts? Those bailouts are the reason everyone thinks this stimulus is such a bad idea.

Republicans think ANY idea of a democrat's is bad.

  • That one guy's so full of shit "it should go in the private sector."

Yeah, so they can pay out billions in bonuses and buy private jets and take resort trips

  • Don't forget the hookers. They love their viagra and their hookers. Just ask big boy Rush.

  • where was all this criticism when the wall street bailout was pushed through? no questions there, no red flags... just push it through and it did f- all.

the US is failing, and those at the top are cashing out at the expense of the US people for generations to come

  • Michael Steele talking about roadblocks, how ironic.

  • I'm glad we have these criminals to tell us how we are going to live and spend our money. What would we do without these criminals?

  • These people make me sick!

  • nice
