BARDSTOW CONSTRUCTION...GREETINGS FROM NEW ZEALAND.
CAN YOU POST SOME VIDS ON THE METHODS AND PROCEDURES ON CONCRETE VIBRATING?...I VIBE EVERYTHING CONRETE BUT PEOPLE ACUSE ME OF OVERDOIN IT THEN A LOT OFF BILDERS HATE IT AS TIME IS WASTED . AT LEAST NON OF MY WORKS HAS ANY CRACKS YET.
ALSO I USE A VERY STIFF MIX OF CONK BUT THE PLACERS HATE THAT ALSO CITING TOO HARD TO MOVE...PLEASE PLACE YOUR VIEWS ON THAT?...I BELIEVE WORKMANSHIP AND QUALITY COMES BEFORE MONEY...JJ
Thanks for the question! In the aera we are building, we are right at sea level... So if we dig down more than 3-4 feet we hit water (!). So our soils engineers require us to compact our soils to a higher level, and we build on top of our compacted site.
Absolutely agree - and we try to when we can... However, we now have a rebar crew that comes in after the forms are completely built, and hangs all of the rebar at the same time. Depending on the size of the footings, this typically takes less than a day. (And I have gone through FAR less gloves!!).
But on smaller projects (garages and coach houses) we will still drop the rebar in as we go.
We take our foundation prep VERY seriously. Check the videos on our channel called "What we expect a 'ready to build' lot to look like" and "How we prepare a building lot."

Nice looking site prep and footings. I can't figure out why you wouldn't lay the rebar in before nailing you "cleats" (1X4) on. Big time saver.
