  • How is this not a sleeper??? You honestly would expect 1650 horse under that hood?

  • "I can't see shit dude"! lol

  • lol americans are so dumb this aint a sleeper looks like crap tooo

  • this is not a sleeper,,,,

  • hahaha i love it!!! (well its a car you can go fast in and its a car you can drive to church)

  • too bad you can't invent something like that to make a women orgasam. instead you put all you energy into making a fast car. is there anything else your fast at.?.....let me guess....ummmm

  • your all morons if you think and rx7 with a 427 tt isnt a sleeper. George is the favorite grand dad i never had :(

  • Nothing sleeper about it. To many visual clues. You tube "oklahoma farm truck" theres a true sleeper.

  • 1,650HP seems way far fetched. Maybe 750HP, but not 1,650. And he says that it beats Ferrari's and Lamborghini, but I hate admit it but he is wrong. The gearing and weight and aerodynamics will blow this car away.

  • @WarPigRS reaching 1000hp on a twin turbo v8 is not difficult, it just costs money. and since its a 427 small block with twin turbos on race gas, 1650 is not that hard to believe for a professional race shop. Also beating a ferrari or a lambo in a straight line isnt difficult for a purpose built drag car.

  • @WarPigRS lol... just lol

  • @WarPigRS lol ... i love how people think exotics are the end all be all ... ive seen civics beat ferraris ... ive seen a neon beat a lambo

  • a sleeper would be a volvo wagon/all beat up with a corvette engine!!!

  • that car is NOT sleeper, a sleeper is quiet

  • "This one is the scariest one of all!"

    (Damn right)

  • "drives like a kitten" Tom

"Something you can drive to church and the post office" George

    LMAO

  • $2,500 car $90,000 engine package.

  • @ALXxpress haha this comment made me laugh out loud

  • At least these guys had fun making this video....A real sleeper...OH YEAH

  • That's not a RX-7, it's a VX-7...

It's also not a sleeper unless you don't know what a sportscar look like.

As a RX-7 first gen owner I think it's silly to replace a 12A by a ridiculously big V-8 but I admire the skills to build engines like that!

    I think it's a matter of taste I guess...

    Indeed, WTF?!! Still, great show!

Quote from George: "A poor man's racecar..."

Man, I wìsh I was that poor...

  • thats one badass old guy. haha. damn

  • what does "sleeper" mean?

  • @conrump it's a car made to look crappy and slow on the outside but the car is actually really fast

  • @longhornsnumber10 kk thanks alot

  • Comment removed

  • Sleeper? I dont think so

  • @tattoojake1984 Agree this is not a sleeper

if i ever see a car with tires like that I will drive like a granny.

  • @roleup I'd atleast try to run him...lol

My Volvo Wagon would not match that though :/

  • @PedoBearWantsYou lol...Nah I did that with my old 2.2 Acura CL with a trans am and in a blink of an eye that dude was gone..my 05 TL I have now wouldn't even catch him..My days are over with tuned cars Im a family man now..but love to see tuned cars on the road. But agree with you we will be no match.

  • @roleup Even when I have a family and stuff, I'll have atleast a car thats all mine, and tuned. Then they'll be a family car. I can outrun some tuned cars in my Taurus..Pretty awesome xD

  • i agree!!!

  • money money

  • S W E E T !!!

  • twin turbod 427 v8

  • I like it, I know you guys are just showing what you are capable of, but 1650hp and only 8 sec is no good way to much TQ from the piston. You would have gotton 8 sec with an 800 hp rotary without all that wheel spinn just my 2 cents

  • wheelspins the best part mate:)

  • First of all, he said 8s the thing is just built, never been down the track. It's enough horsepower to run 7s, but the car isn't set up for it. It's just a street car with lots of power. Besides, the rotary while it's cool in it's own way for being different, will never be as reliable or efficient as a piston engine.

  • Does that sound in any way like a rotary engine to you?

  • @theoriginalca7erham Thanks Sherlock, I was responding to someone else talking about a rotary being better.

  • @theoriginalca7erham

    427cui V8 ... you see it at 2:oomin

    greetz,,,

  • Thanks for pointing out the obvious, I really do appreciate it.

  • Comment removed

  • defiantly not a rotor car any more

  • holy mazda!

  • and the car was??

  • @toniz222 Its a 1st gen RX7

  • not a sleeper looking like that !

  • 1650 wtf!!!!

  • "Rippin Ferrearis and Lambo`s, make em shit their pants" well sayd, but i bet ur gonna shit ur pants in Nürburgring, cause this car is for driving only straight line.

    Power is nothing without control.

  • It's a streetable dragcar not a road course car.

  • I think the owner is the bigger sleeper than the car. I can only hope I'm that cool at 73 to drive a car that would give a 20 year old a heart attack.

  • hmmm i thought the rotary engine had chambers what are these cylinders that you speak of?

  • this is not a rotary engine...it has been swapped for a v8

  • awesome car.

  • Honest George is the man! And that is one awesome automobile.

  • 6.50.. just a car to get to church and bk!!!! bet his wife loves him lol

  • that car is awesome i want it.

  • toms laugh is a classic!

  • DAMN ! ! how many types of gas did that pump have ????

  • awesome sleeper

  • Cylinder heads is the big advantage of the chevy big blocks and the reason to run them. Forced induction does make it a slightly less relevant point though :-)

  • I imagine that is a small block 427,maybe one of the new Motown castings-not a big block or there would be alot less room under that hood.

  • atleast that old man can say, i gotta car that'll make you smile, and shit yer pants at the same time... LOL

  • ROFL, omg two injectors per cylinder. This car is so ridiculous fast.

  • oh for.....no wrong a FORD engine in a rotary come on that poor car i mean great engine you guys got no disrespect but put it in a cobra or something not an RX that's just blastfamy

  • It's a Chevy, buddy.

  • thing is SICK

  • that car is no longer an rx7. rx7 stands for rotary experiment 7

    smh

  • Yeah now it should be called the RX-7liter ;)

  • no..... it shouldnt have the letters r and x in the name becuase its no longer a rotary, this is a disgrace to all other rx7 owners out there.

  • Real eXtreem 7 liter

  • your just mad it will smoke any rx7 out there

  • actually no, a 20b would beat that and a 26b would just embarress that engine to the fullest extent

  • ha ha ha

  • Every video i hav seen of any car NRE has built is beyond amazing! From mild to wild, props to NRE! They are the baddest shop on youtube handa down! This rx7 is absolutely insane and i wish george was my grandpa!

  • By no means is that car a "Sleeper". First thing you notice when you pull up are the huge rear tires, despite that the car is beastly fast.

  • yea but no fucking way would you think it has that much power, it IS a sleeper because he will definatly get ricers trying to race him all the fkn time.

  • LMFAO yea man if i saw that with those huge tires i STILL wouldn't be expecting THAT!!!

maby like 500-600hp rotary but GOD DAMN!!!!!!!!!!

and the dual tank set up is GENIUS!!!

kudos to the builders im showing all my friends this video lol.

  • George is my fucking hero.... sleeper bwahaha, until you roll up to it and see the huge

  • drive to church? Seems money doesnt follow education... LOL.... fucking sick ass car..... my god i love it...!!!!

  • yes i am from wheeling w v a & i have ran the car at boniville for the last 20 years without any problems. no worries yet.

  • aww man... its sad to think that people like you believe that age affects a persons desires....

also age debilitates the body... but the mind stays sharp until your final years, so im sure our awesome buddy George can hang just fine... he has probably raced more times than you have payed your phone bill... im only 21 so im not an old geezer but CMON!!! respect your elders that guy is the coolest old dude EVER!!!!

  • i wana be george, "when i grow up"

  • cant believe that is tucked upi in there

  • "take it to church" laughed my ass off when he said that

  • i just got an FC! loving it

  • Respect to the 73 year young owner!

  • nvm. they changed it out.

  • no rotary there son. pure v8

  • uhrm hows that a sleeper?

  • It doesn't look fast, but it goes like shit off a shovel. That's all a sleeper needs to qualify as one.

  • yeah i understand that but the tyres, the exhaust, engine noise, anyone who knows anythings going to go thats not entirely stock, sure i doubt theyd guess shes got 1650 V8 horses to play with but a true sleeper gives no hint whatsoever then leaves you at the line going "what the f**k was that"

  • "a true sleeper gives no hint whatsoever." Not really. A sleeper doesn't have to be some heap of junk with a $50K engine in it.

And although this one can unleash its full 1650HP at almost any time, some of these engines run just on 91 octane, yet can still make just 1100HP. Just thought I'd say that.

But that's just it - who'd actually guess what it has under the bonnet? It varies from person to person, but to me, all a sleeper is is a car that doesn't look fast, but goes fast.

  • i can respect that, sleepers im used to seeing and such are entirely stock looking and hardly ever heaps of junk that fry tyres with a touch of the pedal

  • I agree.

  • OMFG! that turbo! :'(

  • If a whole-in-the-wall garage can make a 1600+hp daily driver, then why aren't the 800lb gorillas in the speed industry (Lambo, Porsche, Masserati, Ford, Chev, etc.) doing the same?

  • NRE are actually really great guys.

And their 427 with that manifold can make a very reliable 1750HP, but this one has smaller turbos.

It costs a fair amount to do amazingly reliable packages like this one, and little amounts to make one that'll only drive around the block and ka-put.

Too much work for mass-produced cars, and too expensive for big companies. That's why your nice, smaller companies make cars with engines like this.

Look at the Veyron's engine. Lotta similarities.

  • Well, these videos beg the question to most of us who aspire to own one of the massed-produced exotics, "What's the point when we can get a real car like the ones in these videos?"

But I don't see how this could cost more than a $300K sports car. Therefore, I don't see how it could cost a mass-producing company like Lambo/Porsche more. Mass producing should make these ventures cheaper.

  • You certainly have a point. Overall, the car would've cost near $30K, I'd assume.

But aside from that, you're paying for the brand name. Just so you can say you own a Lamboghini, ya know? And the cars are quite fast to start with.

This car can make 1100HP on 91 octane, whereas your average exotic makes about 600HP. The amount of idiots who'd kill themselves would be unfathomable, almost.

  • its quite a bit more than 30k... the engine is like 60k alone

  • I was roughly guessing.

I checked it out - engine alone is supposedly $36K alone, and he said it cost more, so we could even it out to $40K.

So $60K is a bit of an over-shoot.

  • $40K engine + $15K car/suspension/etc.

For 1600+hp, it sounds like a steal to me.

  • Indeed. Considering when you put your foot down, you have about 1500HP at the wheels.

And your last comment cracked me up.

  • "The amount of idiots who'd kill themselves would be unfathomable, almost." (LordJesseD)

We are in need of new candidates for the Darwin Awards anyway.

  • because they know people would kill themselves with that kind of power.

  • Yes like you and I, but we'd have one hell of a time before we twisted ourselves around that light poll.

  • Nice car, Nice old guy.

  • notice how the import needs a domestic engine to be that fast?

  • Notice how it takes an import shell to bring out a domestic engine's potential?

  • That made me grin! Wow.

  • This convince you of turbo motors? Maybe you should do it to your Mustang, or GT when you get one.

Pretty cheap, to a certain degree.

  • Impressive indeed. But I would be inclined to twin turbo a big block.

I love the dual fuel tanks so your always ready with race fuel.

  • It's basically so that when you turn the boost up, it'll switch to that. All from the cockpit.

Though a small block really is plenty. I guess it depends what kinds big block. Like the 540, or a 454?

Regardless, getting 1100HP on 91 octane is bloody great.

  • Have I mentioned before - there's no replacement for displacement - so 540 minimum.

  • Redneck.

  • Thank you!

  • You're welcome.

  • That 427 small block with those turbos on it, is probably more like an 1200 cubic inch non-aspirated engine. And really, who can use 1650hp anywhere on the streets ?

  • Torque, Tom torque. A BB kicks butt over any small block with its low RPM torque. Drive one and see.

  • A SB has low rpm torque. It's all bout about the specific engine, and it's torque curve. The torque curve on these engines are pretty damn flat, just as much as any BB.

SB versus BB is silly - it's just power in different sizes, except the BB is heavier and therefore slows a car down more.

  • Ya know LJ, its not the same. There is nothing like a BB Chevy. And even less like an uber chevy. We'll go for a spin when you get here and put an end to the debate once and for all.

  • I promise I will never be convinced. You're biased anyway, whereas I hate Chevies like I hate all cars.

  • You will be convinced the first time you go for a ride in a decent BB powered car. I was, at about your age. 427 BBC 66 Chevelle, about 450 to 500hp. I had no idea a car could have power like that. I'd been in and owned lots of small block fast cars before that. I will never go back!

    It is entirely different.

    Bias is good, btw.

  • That's you and I'm me. But as of now, I remain unconviced. I simply see BBs as slower, lesser revving engines that make more power compared to SBs, and the these TT SBs make more than enough powerful.

On the N/A side, I do see the light of your argument, though.

  • not sayin i like the good ol big block chevy's.....i'm just not into them. i'd rather be rolling in a lotus7 or mgb

  • that Twin turbo small block makes way more torque than any big block. unless were talking about adding twin turbos to a big block, but this is all insane anyway. no one can ever use the kind of power these engines are laying down. I looked at Nelson's website, he gets over $35000 for one of these TT 427 packages... Insane again...

  • I can

  • "the differinc between going and really going" I love this guy can I adopt him as My grandad I miss My garndpaw george
