I was there in the QPR end that day ! gutted as they had had a good run to get there beating Liverpool at Anfield and saving a penalty there, but totally outplayed on the day!
I was 23 back in 86, my daughter jodie was born 4 days before that final so you can imagine as an Oxford United supporter it was one hell of a fantastic week for me. My daughter was wearing an Oxford United baby grow,, had party after in Wendoverafter game. had great players, hebbard, houghton ( Liverpool) a certain John Aldridge came along (went to Liverpool) dean saunders ( Liverpool i think).
i was there that day in the QPR end, and we were totally outplayed, oxford deserved the win, good crowd too, rangers had around 35000 there, about 20000 up on the week before!, but great day out
@ricroc7777 WHERE DID 60.000 QPR COME FROM THEN WAS ONLY 15.000 AT LOFTUS RD FOR LIVERPOOL SEMI FINAL AND ONLY 3.500 QPR AT CHELSEA IN QF REPLAY. BOTTLED IT AND GLORY HUNTERS JOKE CLUB
Good point. I think the closest we've had recently was when Middlesbrough played Bolton in the 2004 League Cup Final. By the way, Jim Smith had managed Oxford from the 4th to the 1st division in the previous years and had only moved to QPR at the start of this season - only to lose to his former club in this final!
If I remember rightly, we beat Arsenal 3-0 at home in the last game of that season to stay up and send Ipswich down. It seems so surreal when you look at what's happened since.
what a fucking stupid ignorant cunt. celtic are about as good as scunthorpe united. no wonder we don't want rangers and celtic in our leagues. stupid cunts like this chatting shit. see you jimmy. spl is the equivalent of dog and duck pub league.
By years of financial mis-management and very bad managerial appointments, especially in the Kassam era.. Kemp,Rix and especially Talbot whom I hold personally responsible for us going out of the league. Complete @rsehole who ripped the players confidence to shreds, Davies, Ashton, Hackett, Bradbury.. Good players who would have kept us up but sold for pittance cos the manager wanted them out.
It's depressing is'nt it, even more so with all the rumours that are flying around at the moment. The fact that we are playing Northwitch Victoria tonight and i am not at all confident just sums the current situation up!
I'd be happy just to get back to league two let alone as high as this (we will never be this good again!!)
I'll be listening to the game on BBC Radio Oxford via the web. I read the fan blogs on the Oxford Mail site (that's where I read your post about this video). I think that the weight of expectation gets to the players. By the way, my favourite live game at the Manor was against Leeds Utd(also featured on this site).
was a very specific hair colour part of the oxford kit back then?

I never watched the game game after the first time at Wembley.
WE were SHIT, but we are in the PREM league, and Oxford are non-league.
Would Oxford swap that cup for the Prem?
You can shove your Prem league.........no glory supporters at our club just football people.
