@supersushi269 hmmm, noob or just stupid. There is NO 12.11 at night. It would be 12.11 in the morning (12.11 a.m.) or 12.11 in the afternoon (12.11 p.m.).
Really funny, I watched your Python tut two half years after you posted it, cause I finished some of you 2010,2011 tuts and they are really good, your tut really gets me into different computing languages......
So i get the ideas that he is going through here but whenever i type "truth" after using the truth.lower or truth.replace method it has not changed the actual "truth" variable. Could anyone help out with how to actually change the "truth" variable completely?
Because strings are immutable, which means that they, like tuples, cannot be changed. In order to get a changed version you must assign the changed string to a new variable.
@TheTwiggsMGW glue.join(sequence) works for me and I have the same version, perhaps you have mispelled something, like the "glue" or "sequence" words.
@TheTwiggsMGW This happens when you make glue into a list by using glue=["hoss"] instead of a string: glue="hoss". Could that be the reason? (I'm quite new at this but since I got the same error message I had at least one explanation).

I failed this first example epicly. I accidentally attempted to 'join' hoss to a single string (which is a sequence of characters instead of the sequence of strings we were instructed to do. Basically, "Hey now bessie, nice chops." became "'Hhossehossyhoss hossnhossohosswhoss hossbhossehossshossshossihossehoss,hoss hossnhossihosschossehoss hosschosshhossohossphossshoss.'" I cracked up irl when I realised my mistake.
Could the 'join' method be used to add junk data say for encrypting? how is it removed? using the del method? so glue.del() ?
could you join a randomized integer string that was different at every place it was added to say a program code, and then have it removed when the code wants to run?... or would the random string be the same string every time it is added... is there a way to randomize it before each time it is added, so you would get
"One who is a beast that can basically do anything he wants. He is usually loved by all and a ladies man. He could break anyone or anything in half. Hoss is a compliment.
Example Sentence: Man, that Stefan is a hoss. He could kill a freshman with one stare down."
Ummm.... I watched all your tutorials, none of them have like if answer is yes say this..... like for a text based game? Or add graphics? I'm confused...
@hobolikespie11 to use python in a shell, like linux, type the command python. What i do however is i type idle, and that opens up the python shell like the one he is using.
one who is a beast that can basically do anything he wants. He is usually loved by all and a ladies man. He could break anyone or anything in half. Hoss is a compliment.
@DSlack3r Hoss is ur everyday random macho guy, who could break anyoneone in half, do anything he wants, is loved by all and gets all the women, but the dictionary just replies horse when i type in hoss
Note that the replace method dose not change the content of the variable to which it is applied. In the case of Bucky's last example, that talks about variable "truth", the original variable remains the same. Try it out!

What "hoss" means according to urban dictionary:
"One who is a beast that can basically do anything he wants. He is usually loved by all and a ladies man. He could break anyone or anything in half. Hoss is a compliment.
Example Sentence: Man, that Stefan is a hoss. He could kill a freshman with one stare down."
Jakobpb 1 year ago
Actually, I think the second definition makes more sense considering how he always talks about cows and bessie:
"Hoss: A southern colloquial nickname for partner, a term of friendship.
Example sentence: You betta' get that grass mowed, hoss."

replace method is not replacing it permanently. truth.replace just RETURNS the new string, but the string "truth" stays the same:
>>> truth="I love old women"
>>> truth.replace("old","young")
'I love young women'
>>> truth
'I love old women'
MrSchnupper 2 years ago 3
Note that the replace method dose not change the content of the variable to which it is applied. In the case of Bucky's last example, that talks about variable "truth", the original variable remains the same. Try it out!
