No it's actually US, UK, France, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Spain, etc. Not Canada or Australia, they have great military training and latest technology but small ineffective armies that are only used as peacekeeping forces not as offensive or defensive forces and dont spend that much on military. You have to take into account things like military training, combat experience, manpower, economy/GDP/Purchasing Power, technology, global or regional influence, etc.

The army has about 95,000 active troops, and a decent navy and airforce, but used as only as a peacekeeping force not an offensive or defensive military power.

Yes EU spends more on military than China, India and Russia but those countries spend a lot as well, China is 2nd, Russia 5th right behind UK and France and India 10th. UK is 64,282,900,000, France is 63,106,600,000 Russia is 35,000,000,000 and India about 31,000,000,000.

Russia will never get itself back to it's former strength. It's best assests is it's oil, and again, it's economy severely nosed dived, selling off $'s to keep it's Rouble afloat, during the collapse of the price of oil.

Well I'm in agreement with the guy above. Sure terrorist attacks, especially ones of suicide aren't exactly easy for NATO to respond to. It's more of an invasion of a country or war on a country.
I wouldn't say that's the case what so ever, it's partly the case, however the more the merrier. It's a massive keep safe. You can't really afford to be weak in the world we live in. That being said NATO doesn't seem all that good, it's only really the big boys that do anything....

No it's actually US, UK, France, Germany, Turkey, Italy, Spain, etc. Not Canada or Australia, they have great military training and latest technology but small ineffective armies that are only used as peacekeeping forces not as offensive or defensive forces and dont spend that much on military. You have to take into account things like military training, combat experience, manpower, economy/GDP/Purchasing Power, technology, global or regional influence, etc.

@PPCLI4Life Ok like I said in my earlier post, Canada has one of the best trained soldiers like US and UK do and have the latest technology as well as recent combat experience, but the Canadian government does not spend that much on military and does not have a very big or strong army. The army has about 95,000 active troops, and a decent navy and airforce, but used as only as a peacekeeping force not an offensive or defensive military power.

@eddyeddyd Yeah I know thats why the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India and China) alliance will never work, India and China will never fully trust each other and will continue to rival each other militarily and economically in the present and in the future. US is trying to maintain good relations with both but US depends more on China as they are their biggest exporter and importer, China equally depends on US as well. We'll see how it all plays out in the future I guess.

@connchri Ok look the emerging superpowers as u already know as well are China, India, EU and to some extent Russia trying to reclaim their status during the Soviet era. Yes EU spends more on military than China, India and Russia but those countries spend a lot as well, China is 2nd, Russia 5th right behind UK and France and India 10th. UK is 64,282,900,000, France is 63,106,600,000 Russia is 35,000,000,000 and India about 31,000,000,000.

India and China have high gini indexes, and relatively poor domestic economies. They are export based and have vunerable economies compared to the EU. Just look at the state of China's stock market after last year. It's inflation. It's still too reliant on exports.

They have "brown" water navies, older generation miltiary and are net Aid recivers. China and India may be experiening massive growth, but that is fuelled mostly by dependency on their exports. They have poor infrustructure.
Russia will never get itself back to it's former strength. It's best assests is it's oil, and again, it's economy severely nosed dived, selling off $'s to keep it's Rouble afloat, during the collapse of the price of oil.

It was a split decision that was ment to end the war quickly when we dropped the atomic bomb on Japan. We would either risk the lives of millions of more soldiers, or tell Japan to back off now. Japan wouldn't listen untill we dropped a second devistating bomb. Japan's civilian populations would turn into militias if we had invaded.
