@westwrd82. Thanks for doing it! That was a cool show! One of the Best Buy guys let me have the little poster for that event that I framed with a few of the pics I took! I was like the 2nd person there that day! BUT !! when I stumbled across your videos!! That made my day!!! All three will always be in my fav list!
Thats me with the balding head in front of Buddy!!! I just found these 3 videos! didn't know who was filming. It was great!!! Thanks Buddy for giving me 30 mins of semi fame!! I might also add this is just a taste of what its like to see him in his club!! I highly recomend it!
While I personally dislike big boxe stores like Best Buy, I think it's good that he plays for people may otherwise not be able to afford concert tickets, especially in this economy. We need more musicians making music this accessible.
First, Best Buy promoted the new album. No doubt this is part of that deal. Aside from that, Buddy will push the blues anywhere, everywhere, whenever he can. If he died today, so would the chicago blues guitar style, and he knows it. That's why he is so determined to play other people's music and advertise new talent. The man truly loves this music and will put it out there every chance he gets, no matter the venue. I've seen him in huge arenas and tiny nightclubs. Great show anywhere
Hey king talker: I dont think the blues will die. I wont agree for a long blue minute!! NO!! I believe Buddy IS the great elder statesman..MOST blues lovers worldwide love him and SEE HIM absolutely. he reaches almost anyone.. while BB is for those who can afford him. (LOVE BB) But there is a resurgence, thanks to Buddy and MANY OTHER GREAT BLUES ELDERS,-- Check out the hundred or so BLUES FESTS- all over the USA AND THE WORLD.
they must have paid him a shitload of money to do this. What the hell was he thinking? Just like best buy selling fender guitars now. The commercialization of america makes me sick, what's next fucking mcdonald's.
how is best buy selling fender commercializatoin? And a lot of people like the fact that he was there because they were able to take there kids to see him, because normally he plays in places they can't get into.
You make good points. Cool take your kids to see Buddy at Best Buy. My point is little unknown music stores that have been in business for years will suffer from this. Instead of the family business with years of experience selling guitars etc, In most cases you will have some pimple faced teenager selling a strat or les paul that has no knowledge of the heritage or legacy of these great guitars. The power and money the big corp. has (advertising&discount) pricing will drive out small business.
A friend of mine is an authorized gibson dealer. He may not be able to sell them anymore because he can't afford to buy them. They produce ex amount a year and they say min. order is 10 guitars (hypothetically). He can afford five. Who can buy 10 guitars? Best Buy. They will eat it all up or produce more than quality may suffer. If you have ever played guitar and walked into a guitar shop you get a vibe. The smell, rows of guitars. Now it is next to guitar hero and some other lame video game.
The new best buy music stores are set up more to compete with guitar centers and sam ashes, there aren't many mom and pop guitar stores around where best buys are located.
