  • You can find out lots by doing research by googleing tit sin or iron wire. I can answer your question about why he holds his belt - so his pants don't fall down. Actually, his fists are resting on his kidney area.

The rest is in the realm of "hard Gung" - esoteric chi kung, strength through breath control. Don't try this without a teacher. Seriously, you can really hurt yourself.

  • How was this form developed? What's the historical background/context for it? It looks impressive.

  • this is the most advanced form of hung gar, this is practiced to develop internal strength and improve health. there might some practical application for the form, but if you practice the tit sin kuen, your strength and stamina will increase. you karate people don't know enough about kung fu to have an opinion. you really should ask questions first.

  • as a serious question, i'm asking what's the point of this? I do shotokan myself, but i'm not sure of the application of this particular...style..i guess you'd call it. Can someone fill me in here?

  • @bloodriotiori

I believe the iron wire form is done to develop internal energy through breathing.

  • @Frequent2001 hmm, makes sense :) I mean i myself have practiced with ankle and wrist weights and i found it increased my speed quite a bit and power, so i thought maybe this was something similar.

  • I could feel the power through Youtube. The whole time, I was asking, "why does he point his toes inward? Why does he shudder-laugh as he extends his arms? Why does he hold his belt when he changes stances?"

  • I saw his student Kurtis Fujita do this form, it was crazy seeing it in person.

  • Kurtis Fujita is my Sifu :D

  • darn, he doesn't make noise

  • Great Hung Kuen Master

  • I saw this guy perform the same form at the Wong Fei Hung Kung Fu academy in Foshan, China in November 2006.

    Im positive is him

  • cool stuff, wow yc is in his 70s?? yeah, hes gooddddd! =D

  • It's not a beautiful or smooth form... but it does exude some explosiveness, doesn't it?

  • great performance - good mover - pitty that the onlookers give him not that much of attention

  • I'm sure the onlookers who know what to look for are paying VERY close attention...What a gem of a clip...thanks for sharing Toisan. :-)

  • @hoisamscomment I think onlookers would give him som attention when they look back in 1968 when he performed double chain whips:

PS: I study at Slovakia my teacher has as a Sifu Lam Chun Fai son of Lam Cho.

    youtube /watch?&v=NVZLBW45Wpo

  • is this taming tiger in 'I' pattern?

  • Love this performance. A++++++

  • wow i know this form and in my style (wie chin) which is a mix of choy li fut and hung gar, this form is called 5 animals. nicely done

  • Five Animals is different. Iron Wire incorporates the dragon section from Five Animals, but not the rest (snake through crane). The beginning is basically the same because the dragon section opens both, but afterwards the two forms are very different.

  • No, this is Tit Sin Kuen (Iron Wire Form)

  • Excellent, another Great Hung Gar Kuen Master

  • Hey Tiosanboy,

Is this from Sigung Lam Jo birthday in 2000? If so do you have video of YC Wongs whole troupe? If so please post!

  • This is done in random sections. I've met Master Wong, even in his 70s he is still very powerful. He is one of the few true Hung Gar masters that are still around today. If you would like to see what a REAL Hung Gar school is like then you would definitely have to go to San Fransisco to take a look.

  • this gave me goosebumps just watching it. I wish I could have attended Lam Jo's B-day...

  • funny thing is i happened to stumble into the school. i agree w/ you a real kung fu school. it's a school that time forgot! that place has its own energy... once inside u feel like u have been transported back in time.

  • thanxs,

very seldom seen. Is this the correct Form ?

  • lam yos son in law is always correct
