Can you imagine a kid bringing a Johhny Seven into school today for show and tell. SWAT, Homeland Security, Big Sis would all be on the scene. 6 month suspension. No wonder the military is all gay today.
Who else noticed the 12 year old girl laboring away with Mom on the Secret Sam Assembly Line? Damn that's awesome. I bet her little brother was jealous as hell! As an early 80's born baby, I would LOVE to see this sort of toy line brought back! Get kids back to playing outside and let 'em know there are such things as winners and losers in real life.
THis was the "Old America" back before Corporate greed and embezzlement, bail outs and massively increased productivity to maximize profits. Gotta keep todays CEO's living like kings. Too bad, the 60's was a great time for toys, real toys, not that cheap china made crap today. Actually, the 60's period was a great time, Its all about the dollar now and getting as much as possible for as little as possible. We need to start putting " In Islam We Trust" on the dollar.
What an awesome job to have, messing with the toys :) And yeah, I was struck most by the fact of seeing American workers actually making things. Sigh ... country just sold itself out starting in the 60's and especially the 70's.
Topper Toys were some of the best ever Toys of the 60's and early 70s.Too bad the management ran it into the ground. The ceo lied to the SEC about the companys actual value or something like that.I still have a bunch of old Topper toys in my basement, none for sale!! They all still work! Topper was located on Trumbull street in Elizabeth NJ.I heard they had a factory in Rhode Island not sure though!Wish they were still in business!! At one time they employed thousands of employees!!
Propably not. The M!6 was actully made by Colt Arms. but someone joked that it looked like a Matel toy. I was lighter than the M14, and took more rounds do to a smaller caliber.
Imagine a job where you're a CEO and all you do is play with cool toys all day! Anyone notice too...I didn't even see a single pair of safety goggles anywhere in the vid, LMAO.
@tridentum Learn to fucking deal with it, moron. Protectionism would mean that America would turn into the former USSR c. 1991, or Somalia. Globalisation is the future of the Western World. I'm sorry your lack of a proper education means you cannot find a real job besides digging ditches.
What is wrong with todays toy thinkers/makers? It's 2008 and the toys 45 yrs ago were a hell of lot better than today. So what if it wasn't R/C. The ideas along with the electricity generated by these manufactures were fantastic.

so, most of the parents that bought these toys were either in WW2 or lived through it.
Didn't they feel kind of weird seeing kids play with this stuff?

One of America's downfall - Outsourcing .
azyaninvasion 1 year ago 2
@azyaninvasion Hardly. Outsourcing just means less jobs for the uneducated and menial workers.
It means they have to go to school, and get an actual education that matters. Oh no. Not learning!

@marcusalexander63 Today the pay for making such toys is about 70 cents a day. Think many Americans are willing to accept that wage?
