Hey Mr. Nomad, I got a MPC 4k and Im using Reason with it, I got my MPC hooked up to reason but when I choose a Reason Instrument like say the NN-XT and try to control the NN-XT with the MPC or my Motif when I load sounds into the NN-XT or any other sound module, the sounds dont come out...What am I doing wrong? Everything is hooked up correctly in Midi Studio. No sound is coming out but when press a button on the MPC/Motif it shows input.
yO! this video is really helpful... when someone gets a chance -- can you detail exactly how the midi and audio cables are hooked up? Especially the midi -- still confusing to me...Thanks 4 the lessons! Peace,
HEY NOMAD7672..i have reason 3 and protools 6.4..when i go to assign each reason module and out,my rewire only gives me the choice for left and right..thats it!
What am i doin wrong or how do i get more output channels..thanks
@JSprayaEntertainment Looks like he already is there. Hes got a platinum snoopdog album above his studio usually meaning he produced a track on one of snoops records that went platinum.
why is reason saying the digi 003 is offline when i go into the preferences on Reason 5? I do have the 003 as the player for windows media player. Is it possible that windows media player is hogging the 003? I will try when i return to my set up, just wondering if you or anyone else can help with the DIGI 003 IS OFFLINE ISSUE WITH REASON 5. Thanx

DAMN Nomad !!!! This is the way i've been looking to do this. If I am not mistaken, Reason will now be a SLAVE to the MPC's Quantizing right? You da motherf***ing man dawg. Holla
Okay Nomad, I think I got the keyboard to work in protools and I think I setup the MPC but when I try to record the reason instrument in protools, I can see the notes being played but its not a blue background like if I was playing the protools instruments
I have my MPC hooked up into my Mbox2 Midi'd In, how did you get your MPC to show up as the MPC? Damn, this is really confusing. I got everything else down to get my sounds to play out of my MPC and everything but I want to use my Midi Controller (MPK49) Im totally lost when you start pulling up the keyboard and making it go to the MPC, I dont have a MPC in my I/O...I guess my MPC is self configured to receive Midi Beat clock so it doesnt show up in the list...Im lost
@PuCCiPuCCe OK, first of all This is how to do it on a Mac. To get the MPC to show up in your IO, you have to first add it as a Device in the Audio Midi Utility. Goto Applications, then Utilities and Click on Audio MIDI Setup. If you dont see the MIDI Studio, Goto Windows and select "Show Midi WIndow". Now in MIDI Studio Click on Add device. A box will pop up "New external device". Click on this and Configure Options, and Name it MPC.
@PuCCiPuCCe (CONTINUTED) If you Select Manufacturer then Akai you'll find MPC already listed. Click Apply, Close the window. Now you Should See you "MPC" in the MIDI Studio. The little icons have UP/Down Arrows on the top of them. These represent Midi In/Out. Drag the UP Arrow from your MBOX to the Down Arrow on the MPC. Done. Now when you goto ProTools, you'll See "MPC" listed in the Midi I/O Section. But really, it should just work on default.
@Nomad7672 Did you mean drag the line from the up arrow on the MPC to the up arrow of the Mbox 2? Because when I try to drag from the Mbox 2 out to the MPC in it doesnt connect but when I drag from the MPC up to the Mbox 2 up it connects, let me know if Im doing this correctly...
@Nomad7672 Alright I got the MPC2500 set up, now when I went to the I/O to select the MPK49 it only came up in the second box which is the output box? For the input I selected MPC2500 and the sound is coming out of the keyboard so now how do I get the sound from the instruments to record into Pro Tools as data so that when I loop the beat in ProTools the instruments play?
Well I got at Digi, left them a 2 page letter, lets see if they respond. That just doesnt make any sense. I might have to get me a firewire interface for my pc, so I can try this out on a PC. But I would think that Digi would insure that Both the Mac and the PC version perform the same before they released a major upgrade.
@djhellfire1 LOL...it funny, but I have to laugh because thats probably how they will answer. OK, what about this....Back in the day they use to have virtual midi devices for the PC. I used to use one called Hubi Loop Back Device....So find one...then set up a virtual pipe to hijack the midi going into the PT and send it straight to the Reason Module. Then Instead of having Pro Tools on the Advanced Mid bus, have the loop back device. Just google Hubi Loop Back Device or Virtual Midi Device.
@djhellfire1 I got my Midi keyboard to play sounds on reason through pro tools...I have hte midi channel on the MPC set to channel 1A but its not recording the actual sounds of the reason instruments into pro tools....It records the midi data from the keyboard input...like I can hear the reason sounds when I push on the keyboard but its not recording the data, do I need to do something like bus the tracks or whatever its called? I dont know how to track out Reason in Pro Tools...
@djhellfire1 But to think about this, did you try just setting up the different channels on the top of the instrument track, and then turning off the midi through, or is it still that you cant get the Digi 003 to show up in the advanced midi interface?
@Nomad7672 Exactly. The main thing keeping this from happening is not being able to select the 003 as the midi input device in Reason. That 1 downfall is messing up the whole setup. If I want to multitrack with Reason the way it is, I have to record all the midi notes in reason, then bounce the audio in Pro Tools, or just leave as midi and hog up cpu. This issue is none existent on both the Mbox 2 and Mbox 2 Pro. Only happens on the 002 and 003.
I couldn't believe my luck at finding your video Nomad! I've been struggling with this issue for more than two weeks. I've been in forums, emailing and calling everybody and their mother to try to get my rig up and running. Thank you Nomad! Thank you! You've helped me in more ways than you know, and for free! Free! I'm subscribing to your channel now and I'll definitely go check out the beatkungfu in your credits. Peace Platinum man!
