I like to experiment when recording, so as to get an unique sound with each recording. The HOLE mic was on the snare, picking up the blast from the air hole on the snare drum, worked well...added a nice punch. As did using a KMI on the snare top...CRACK!

Oh cool, that's interesting. How did you configure the OHs out of interest? Were you using that RNR1 as an ambience mic?

On that session (sunrise & nascent) we used Coles for OHs. Two Neumann 170s as far room mics and yeah the RNR1 as a mono room mic. We put it in a weird place though to pick up the body of the kit. All about the room mics :p

a lot of things changed and we've worked really hard the past year to make the album what we really want to release. We weren't happy releasing a rushed job...

It will be released early 2010. honest :)
