This one game on the Dreamcast with a dead baby that turns into a giant flying fungus, and the main guy is a travelling knight of sorts with a 6ft sword and a handheld auto dart weapon.

Also Resident Evil 1 (+the remake) is a nice shocker. Fatal Frame 2, yikes. And Forbidden Siren and the series. Silent hill's series would be at the top of them all.

Can't say much about games like L4d and others that are made by military desires.

Player is stupid with shotgun.. You don't reload one shot and shoot if you are perfectly safe on high ground and there are 10 distracted zombies below you. Get a full clip, it will take half the time to kill.

i can understand why she'd fire after each shell. her friend was the "distraction" and she needed to get as many of the zombies off of him as quickly as possible. reloading a full clip would have been that many more seconds without any shooting at all. since the player was safe, she wasn't worrying about keeping a full clip, only about putting as much buckshot into the group of zombies as possible.

Her friend lived for a good 10 secs with about 15 zombies waiting on him. If she reloaded completely she would have saved about half the time and maybe her friend wouldn't have fallen. She was virtually safe at the time and had a long moment to reload safely and then resume pumping shots. If she reloaded her entire clip every time, more zombies would have died because of the greater damager per second. It's basically timing; She wastes time avoiding reloading.

If it were 1 Z at a time, then yes.
