Lodoss is cursed island?Is it cursed because of the wars? I don't think it is really cursed for that at least not for Deedlit and Parn is concerned. They seem quite blessed.

Loddos was cursed because the goddesses Martha, goddess of light/life and Kardas goddess of dark/destrction had a great battle. After the battle was finished, they had split the continet, and since then people had come to call this new island Loddos, the accursed Island.

At least, thats what the narrator would say at the beginning of the show each time.

It doesn't really take place after the OVA.. The OVA strayed pretty far from the original manga. This one follows the manga more closely, but it starts from well into the series (five years after Ghim's death.) You'll notice some of the differences in the first episode, like the difference in how King Fahn and Emperor Beld die, etc. :P

for the most part the quality of the anime overall isn't that good but I can't help but love RoLW though chronicles of the heroic knight wasnt as good as the original in my oppinion.

@traveleroflife besides all this is one of the best anime series of all times (dont trust me, that info was published by kadokawa shotten, an japanese anime specialized magazine in his 20 anniversary edition, where they post a list of the 100 best anime of all times, this was the number 10)

@traveleroflife the quality (visually) is nothing compared to the now a days series, but you have to remember that this anime was made almost 30 years ago. and the story is just awesome, epicness in the highest level.
