@SuperJourneyer It's a terrible overrule because the ball was called "in" by the judge on that line, and the chair umpire overruled the call from the other side of the court.
hewitt needs to get back to this kind of physical condition or otherwise get this lean frame again if he wants to be relevant for one more season, but it's not so easy 10 years later...he's been missed in the game, at least for me anyway.
haha....it's been 10 years from when the comment was made about them being in Grand Slams for the next 10 years. And then Federer, Nadal and Djokovic enter. Boy is that commentator's face red!!!
LOL at the commentators predicting the Roddick-Hewitt rivalry to match the Sampras-Agassi rivalry, and the comment about "two young guns that will certainly be playing for grand slam titles the next 10 years..." ;) Between them, they have a total of 3 slams and they are both pretty much finished as far as top tennis is concerned. Federer, Nadal and Djokovic have a total of 30 slams with more to come ;)
WOW, that sucks without instant replay. RODDICK GOT SCREWED. Have to give him credit though. He shook the umpire's hand AND didn't mention the call afterwards.
@ikbenbnop Nothing wrong with the umpire, his was sleeping on the job and too busy looking across the court to check out some big boobies. That is why we have today's technology "Hawk Eyes" so the players can challenge all of the unreasonable calls from lack of attention umpires.
No shit @hunter1; if you listen to Patrick McEnroe, he says "it may have" (hit the line), although he, too, complains that the umpire shouldn't do that on the far side. That call was not as clear cut as you claim. Umpires do overrule calls at the far side court, regardless of the situation. There's a reason why they sit high up.
That overrule is ridiculous. Normally, I lose respect for Roddick because he acts like a spoiled brat toward umpires, but in this case the umpire made a terrible call and deserved what the Rod handed to him.

America players play good so far, If Jim Courier ask me as his assistant only one year, I will give them tennis secret weapon, US Davis Cup team will win champion 2012. I have 80% sure.
anyways, that call pisses me off. im not saying roddick would have gone on to win the match, or the whole tournament anyways, but you never know. its one of those butterfly effect things - one small thing could change the future in a big way.
This is Andy's most justified temper tantrum. He had every right to be angry. You should never overrule a call that close from the other side of the court. You're just asking for the player to scream bloody hell at you. Serena had the same thing happen to her in 2004. That match is clearly the reason we have Hawkeye today.
i think andy roddick is a great sportsman.. scientifically wondeful how you can read the anger off his face during the interview... eyes wide open mouth wide open bloodthirst... he makes no eyecontact with the interviewer because he is afraid he will punch him in the face... terrific how he keeps his composure...

Bwahahahahahahaha.......
@lacheyrulez Oh really? Did you pause the video at 1:08? And if Hewitt is better than Roddick, then how come Roddick is in the top 10 and Hewitt isn't?
@Rafathaman94 The slower nature of current hard courts are unsuitable to Hewitt's style of play, not to mention all the injuries he's had to come back from in the last few years. Hewitt at his best could be a Top 10 player. He is only 29 after all. But the game's evolved beyond his counter-punching style and with the current crop of stars, it's unlikely he'll ever win a grand slam again. I'd wager than by the end of 2011, Roddick will have slipped to below #10 and Hewitt will be at least #30-20.
LOL funni how things turn out. Every1 thought it was going to be Hewitt Roddick dominating the nxt 10 years. Then Fed and Rafa came.

@Bang4URBux hawkeye isn't always accurate a ball you may call in might be consider an out on the hawkeye angle at times. @lacheyrulez Oh really? Did you pause the video at 1:08? And if Hewitt is better than Roddick, then how come Roddick is in the top 10 and Hewitt isn't?

@Rafathaman94 At the time Hewitt was much better.

@BabyCarlyle At the time he was, but overall he isn't.
