Do you have Episode 0813, Scene 6 when "Luis walks through his old childhood haunts, singing a sentimental song about his memories of this special place"? I would really appreciate if you could post it if it is in your archives.
Yes, It would be nice if these kids shown in this clip as adults today and to remake this clip. And also to interact and swim with dolphins as well. They should do the swim with dolphins film.
OH MY GOD! I've been looking for this for years...I cried when I found it on Saturday. THANK YOU SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO MUCH. You've made my life...so many memories of my beautiful childhood, because of songs like this I learned to dream and be creative.
It never ceases to amaze me what a truly great songwriter Joe Raposo was. This one and Weaver Bird are two gems that I forgot. Flying, Little Things, Me, Go Ahead and Touch, J Jump. All such beautifully written melodies on top of great chord progressions. This kind of beauty is lost in the Hip-Hop style music that pervades Sesame and Electric Company today
Sesame St hit rock bottom in 92? I dunno, it was still pretty good then. It's true that when Henson and Raposo died it was like the beginning of the end but in the early 90s they were at least still showing most of their old classics and following the old format and Elmo hadn't totally taken over. But yeah it got worse as the years went on and when Elmo's World came along, that was the last nail in the coffin!
I used to love watching Sesame Street but I was too young to remember many details, I mostly get the odd flash of an episode, like a screenshot - except for this song, i remembered it word for word but never thought to try and find it until a few months ago, I know some people think it's silly but it was a big factor in growing up and I remembered it almost every day; I'm 25 now and was born in 1984, how old would that have made me when I first heard this song?
This clip did inspire the human-sea lion interaction from a couple of family film classics, "Sammy-The Way-Out Seal" (1962) that starred Robert Culp, Bill Mumy and Ann Jillian. And "Sandy the Seal" (1969). A good classic clip from Sesame Street to enjoy over and over again.
Sesame Street celebrates 40 years now. Yep, a lot of changes- but mostly bad after Henson and Raposo passed away- we may never hear such relaxing, serene music like this again unless there is a special to commemorate those 4 decades on the air. (Hope they do, otherwise, my children will not watch it.)
I agree the first 21 years were the absolute best. 1969-1990. After both Jim Henson and Raposo died the show began to take a downward spiral, A few years later, by 1992 it had totally hit rock bottom.
I disagree. I think it was still pretty much its familiar self for most of the 90s. Even Elmo's World coming along late in the decade didn't affect the rest of show much at first. It's only during this last decade that Sesame started to change into something completely divorced from its old identity. Especially with the total-overhauls of first 2002 and especially 2010, when (from what I heard) they decided to officially close the book on most of their old material.

Deanmo23... this scene from Episode #2622 is a re-run. The original video of this was actually shot back in 1986 (original episode #2228).

R.I.P. Joe Raposo (1937-1989).

Raposo always had tunes that celebrated the wonders of nature.

Yes, he did. That's God nature for nice gentle mammals like young sea lions and humans to swim and interact together.
