  • Think this is from a show called 'The Roxy' made by Tyne Tees Television. Basically ITV's very shortlived answer to 'Top of the Pops'.

  • How come Hook doesn't have a broken spine from that insanely low bass playing.

  • barney should shave his arms better :P

  • Love New Order; love this song! Thanks for posting!!

  • Having won a Victoria Cross for his valour fighting the Zulus In South Africa Private 'Hooky' took to the guitar. However after many years of playing his bass guitar ridiculously low his back wore out :)

  • Peter Hook will batter you.

  • desde medellin colombia tengo 28 años y amo esta musica la ola nuw gey de los 80.s me uviera encantado vivir esa epoca

  • The original was, 'Now they're taking drugs with me,' but Stephen Hague our producer made us change it because he said it wouldn't be a hit if we kept that line in. He was right. It was a very big hit, but we chickened out. I change it back sometimes live."

  • "(True Faith) is about drug dependency. I don't touch smack but when I wrote that song I tried to imagine what it's like to be a smackhead and nothing else matters to you except that day's hit. There's a line in the song, 'When I was a very young boy, very young boys played with me/Now we've grown up together, they're afraid of what they see."

  • lowest bass in the west.............=)

  • Amazing how they went from early Warsaw to Joy Division to this.

  • Hes hiiiiigh

  • American Psycho..

  • hooky....... aching to lay on some licks here. you can always hear hook come in no matter what band he working with.

  • are they just wearing their guitars to look cool? theyre not even playing! bass player picks a few notes here and there to no effect. new order is still the best tho, love this song.

  • @doctorbenjiphd later in the song he plays guitar

  • @djdarkmonkey yeah im an idiot thats what i get for posting comments on a video when im only half way through watching it

  • @doctorbenjiphd This song never gets old even by today's standards! ;-) This song is pure classic! :)

  • @doctorbenjiphd no one plays live on the Top of The Pops...usually, but this sounds half and half, the bass interlude Hooky is playing is definitely different, there's an orchestra hit thats not in the original version

  • @astrolabe1976 I think it's not Top of the pops here

  • @astrolabe1976 In the '80s, New Order was the only band that played live on TOTP. I never understood why other bands didn't play live.

  • New Order with Don't do Drugs tee-shirts...LMAO!!! Man, a world without Hooky's bass would just be shit!

  • One of the best songs ever made in the 80's synthpop genre.

  • stratocaster fits him lot better than a gibson

  • I always found Barney's 'Don't Do Drugs' t-shirt most amusing. Did anyone see the irony at the time???

  • this shit is so funky for being 20 years old. dang.

  • What kind of effect is the bass player using?

I always thought that was the keyboard.

  • a little bit of distortion and chorus

  • thanx.

It sounds cool. Im gonna try it.

  • He's using a Electro-Harmonix Clone Theory pedal.

  • Oh, ok. Cool. Thanx. I'll check it out.

  • nice shirt Barney!

  • iTS A REALLY AWESOME SONG !!GREAT YEARS !!!

  • One of the gratest songs I've ever heard , is perfect as a soundtrack when you're travelling.

  • so gillian replaced ian curtis then??!!!

  • Gillian? Wouldn't that be the WOMAN in the black dress, playing keyboards??!!!!

  • where is my dear Gillian ?

  • Bernard looked mighty hot here!

  • Ha. Hooky is going to fucking kill his carpals playing the bass that low.

  • Yep, I know that seen as I decided to copy him while playing my own bass and getting RSI.

  • Hooky! Ha ha! Bless him! Learned to play bass in two weeks and then didn't bother learning anymore bass.... Got to hand it to him. what a guy!

  • Barney has the same moves every time he sings this song, it is as if he is on automatic pilot, it's awesome....

  • i dont fink it is a complete jock this t-shirt

'cause he signs the censured version of the song...

  • Do you remember the Roxy? That tit from Blind Date had a stint co-hosting the show. And it was a stint as the show only lasted two weeks. Devastate the night forever!

  • Ha Ha! Nice T-shirt Bernard; Love the irony. And isn't Tue Faith about cocaine addiction? Priceless!

  • some say its about heroin.

anyway its a magnific song(my favorite)

  • hooky is such a legend lmao

  • Peter Hook looks like a drunk

  • Probably is.

  • he is!

  • Hey, leave my Hooky alone!

  • yes :P haha what a guy!

  • Hooky FTW!

  • I gave this post a thumbs down by accident, Peter Hook is my hero.

  • i dont think that t is a joke

  • XDDDDDDD I was laughing so hard at the T-Shirt, I almost forgot to watch the performance. Barney sure has a sense of humor!

  • I feel so extraordinaryyyyyyyyyyy... :O)

One of the greatest songs EVER!

  • that t-shirt is damn hilarious

  • Bernard Sumner has always had a sense of humour...

  • Everyday I think that this is a wonderfultrack of my simple filmlife ...

  • also don't think they ever sounded any better live big up the ROXY sound guys. lmfao!!!

  • singing a song about cocaine addiction on a prime time pop show with don't do drugs tee shirts... New order!! fucking pricless :P

  • @jonwaccoe hahahaha yeah! :D

  • pretty funny wearing a shirt that says dont do drugs! when they did them all the time that what made there songs so fucking awsome!!

  • hehehehehehehhe way to go man ;)

  • I think Bernard looks so pretty when he sings like this.

  • I really like it when he closes his eyes while he sings.

  • Dont do drugs, Barney. HAHAHA irony rules

  • mdma

  • Never used to be bothered with this band until I tuned into a Reading gig and I was on Acid - opened my mind to this band - love em. And yeah I know - drugs are bad m'kay, but at 50 I was a late starter!

  • Awesome t-shirt.

  • Love this song, and it seems to sound even better live. About the T-shirt, I read somewhere that in some of New Order's early performances, Bernard Sumner often took LSD...what an irony.

  • Ummm, LSD was at times the LEAST harmful drugs the band was doing...surprised they made it to the 90's!

  • Add to this the experimentation done by Ian Curtis when Joy Division were about and I'm not too suprised!

  • exactly! johnny rotten couldnt even keep up with new orders excess. He said they took more drugs than the greatful dead!

  • If you know anything about the band, that t-shirt is the definition of irony.

  • Gillian REALLY shows off her skills on this song. I really tought she was just a hack keyboardist until I saw her technique here.

  • Barney with a "Don't Do Drugs" t-shirt is just awesome.

  • :D That's why I love NO, the sense of humour...

  • Great...I wish I could have been there....True Faith is their best song together with love vigilantes....
