i own both, i think iphone wins in terms of style and user interface. the phone is so much fun to use. N95 has a way better camera, speakers, and battery life, but it is very thick. Iphone is way better for surfing the web, the screen is large and clear.
Both phones have the exact same screen resolution, TFT 16M. Just that the Iphone is a larger screen. N95 8gb is a way better phone, but it's ugly like a Volvo or Saab.

The touch on the iphone is pretty good (not perfect) but it falls short on a lot of things already available in other smartphones. the n95 gets the job done if you're used to keypads. for me it's not a problem. browsing is better on the n95 bec of skyfire. so i'll go for the n95 because it offers a lot more than just touch.

If you buy a camera or phone on how many mega pixals it has, you need to do a google about how mp work.

Yep, the N95 is a bit small for having 5 megapixels. But the iPhone sensor has a smaller sensor, poorer image processing algorythmes and no autofocus, which is quite essential for consistent sharp shots. Also manual ISO control and such.
Oh yes there is no doubt the n95 has a better camera all round, but the iphone pice held steady and in good lighting are very good.
Infact they are better than most of the sony erricsons I have compared to.
I was very suprised to find I quite liked the Camera even with no adjustable settings it is very usable for point and shoot, more so than people give it credit for.
Most of people see 2mp and think it must be rubbish, but this is no way to measure as you have said. Autofocus is important etc

I do have it. But I'm just being honest. I find the not only the looks/design, but the interface of the iphone FAR superior to the n95. there's not much point in having great features in a phone (n95) if the interface isnt that good

Minus the touch screen functionality of the iphone the N95 has one of the best multi-tasking interfaces ever. In fact nokia have made very little change to their interface over the years because it is so good. I am now wondering whether you have even owned a Nokia let alone an N95. I agree with you, plus, it has a Carl Zeiss camera lens (which are the best since...well...ever), it has all the functions you could ask for, and it's simply awesome, the Iphone just has stupid stuff to make it looc like it is "complete", who in hell needs a cellphone that looks like its makin a radiography o that it looks like if it has coffee or bear in it? its just stupid poor quality stuff to make it look "complete".

I guess there is little point comparing, except to say, The symbian phones have got a long way to go before they really stand up for most people. If i needed all that technology on the go, I'd have an Iphone and a mini laptop-linux or mini windows lappy, some of them are really small now and make symbian phones a bit pointless now.
No you can't carry them in your pocket, but anybody who needs portable computing for serious bizz prob has a bag with them anyway.

BTW having too many pixels can make your picture quality worse if the sensor isn't up to it.
If you buy a camera or phone on how many mega pixals it has, you need to do a google about how mp work.
They just up the mp because it cheap, like they stuff computers with ram to sell but have sh6tty processors.
I laugh every time I hear a comet sales person say 'well obviously more mp mean better picture' for most phones and point and shoots it means worse cause the sensors aren't up to the job.

For a phone the pic is not too bad on the n95 opened at full size on a pc, even with a CRT monitor, it really shows that it just a phone though.
The thing thing that annoys me on my n95 is that the video still jerks a bit. Thats movies I shot with the phone, not stuff I've encoded.

Yep, the N95 is a bit small for having 5 megapixels. But the iPhone sensor has a smaller sensor, poorer image processing algorythmes and no autofocus, which is quite essential for consistent sharp shots. Also manual ISO control and such.

Oh yes there is no doubt the n95 has a better camera all round, but the iphone pice held steady and in good lighting are very good.
Infact they are better than most of the sony erricsons I have compared to.
I was very suprised to find I quite liked the Camera even with no adjustable settings it is very usable for point and shoot, more so than people give it credit for.
Most of people see 2mp and think it must be rubbish, but this is no way to measure as you have said. Autofocus is important etc

Lol, I don't have an n95, and I actually have a custom modified umpc (something to take on the Japanese laptops). Although my needs are very different from the average user. I've just found apple have always been good at marketing a good looking product - over pricing it to sell to the the gullible masses. But hey live and let live. Features wise, the n95 murders the iphone hands down. Then again, iphone users are not exactly the most tech savvy in the first place.
