Kate Bush amazes me again every time I hear her, even though I've been listening to her since I was a child. She sings her emotions like we feel them for real. When she sings she screams like you would really scream, really cry, really hate, really love, really complain, ... In her singing she doesn't pretend to scream with a warm deep loud voice, but she really screams. She cries like we would cry, with a small hopeless voice. Cold as ice and straight through your heart.
If you don't like Kate Bush songs then do not listen too them, I personally love them, A 16 year old girl wrote The Kick Inside! a wonderful achievement at that time, were talking over 30 years ago.No X factor then. KATE BUSH HAS A RARE TALENT, and I am delighted that she is still recording now. Her songs have helped me through some very difficult times, so lalalielands think about what you post in the future.
This is just so ....... great. "And never get out again .... " - she just had this knack for making a quick phrase and a quirky sequence of notes memorable forever.
Thank you for this ... What an incredible, miraculous find really. Rended as though performed in a small room, just for us... You almost expect her to ask, at the end: so, what do you think? That's more intimate that I ever hoped to get with this awe- inspiring, sublime artist and human being. I'm breathless. Thank you again.
Kate Bush is an artist and musician first and foremost - Michael Jackson is a singer and entertainer - they do different things, and we listen to them for different reasons. Kate is wonderfully creative but sometimes a little outre, Michael had an unusual lifetyle but was a totally devoted & professional performer - so kudos to both
I am really sick of listening to Kate Bush songs that I love but seeing other just as amazing musicians insulted or dismissed for no good reason. Just appreciate the music for what it is.
@lalalielands Thank you. I found myself typing the same thing on here two days ago while listening to bjork. Some guy was calling britney spears, madonna, lady gaga and beyonce bitches and fake artists, and it was nauseating. I told him to simply learn to enjoy beauty when you hear it. It doesn't require the comparison and never once does the song aim to demean or weigh itself against anyone else. the hard part of enjoying unique music is the snobbishness that seems to come with other listeners
@lalalielands "I am really sick of listening to Kate Bush songs" but I have to post negative shit on Kate Bush videos so everyone else on the planet can feel my exquisite and profound pain.
I just can't enough of this recording, it's SO INCREDIBLY BEAUTIFUL! Please, please never let this remove from youtube! I want to keep hearing this until my death!
Why exactly is MJ considered a genius ? He didnt play any instruments and composed about 8 songs every 10 years. Last time I saw him performing, he was holding his crutch and squeaking like a mouse. Pity all these people calling him a genius didnt buy his album that flopped ! And, no, he didnt invent the moonwalk. There's film of a guy doing it in the 30's. Imo, MJ was one big hyped up con artist . As for this lady....she truly is one, no doubt about it.
@ipolson hey dude! he revolutionized performing arts. and u must have heard him sing when he was like 6. no one had that soul at that age. he actually played several instruments just not on stage. and his dancing is amazing- the isolation, and how he put everything into every performance. im a dancer, i know! he was one with music. i love kate just as much as u- im 13 and i can tell how extrodinary she is. y can no1 see that these two are actually very similar?
@lovettbeatle: 'revolutionized performing arts'.... come on, thats a bit of hype you have read somewhere. And he didnt, there were plenty of others who were child performers long before him. Stevie Wonder for one ! I have no problem with him being a 'dancer' (alothough personally, I prefer bands who dont 'dance'. . Its just when people call him a 'musical genius'. He wasnt. Now Stevie Wonder......oh yes !
@lovettbeatle: And musically, I do not consider them the same. I am a musician and I can tell you Kate's songs are far more inventive and musically challenging than anything MJ ever wrote. Thats my opinion. I think you are right, MJ was more of a dancer than a serious musician. But its pleasing that at 13 you appreciate Kate. Thats good !
@ipolson your right. Michael Jackson is not a musician, not as good as Kate Bush. Better performer maybe, although I still think Kate is the better performer artistically.
Thanks very much for posting this. Wonderfull demo. Very emotional. Sends shivers down the spine. I've known and loved the album version for 32 years but this demo really lets you hear the essence of the song. After hearing this demo I fell in love with it and now I prefer it to the album version.

Like, who the eff is comparing Kate to Michael Jackson? Anyway, let me get back to the comment I was going to make...ahem...Kate Bush is far better than Nickelback.
Whenever i'm feeling blue, I can always find a kate bush song that explains how i'm feeling. This is so beautiful, she is the greatest songwriter to ever live and i'm totally in awe of her.
it is totally unfair that one person should be blessed with so much talent , she is absolutely stunning in every way , voice , looks , writing, imagery, mystique ...sigh...
My favorite, next to "Moving," on THE KICK INSIDE, and then this is just the cherry on the sundae! Just where did this talent come from at such an early age? Well, I know the answer, but I just had to ask :-) Thank you for posting.
I need this version of the song! where can i find this? it is a wholly different mood than the more popular version... she is so dreamy and melancholy. never fails to give me goosebumps. anybody know where this version can be found?!?!
Beautiful song. But I would argue that she was already a big star in the UK and everywhere but the US when this came out. Her song "Wuthering Heights" was her first single, and instantly went to the top of the charts.
life death and love are one.You cant get out ,its indivisible ,the outside and the inside are the same. That is love.
Kate is singing about romantic love ,which is not really love as it contains; dependency,posession,domination,jealousy,pleasure/pain ..all ego bound and self centred ,which is the denial of love.Love is when the "self" is not.
and you better believe, from the songs on this album and others, that kate is aware of the dependancy, jealousy, possession, pain, etc. implicit in romantic love, which makes her devotion to love all the more courageous and her understanding of the intricacies of human relationships all the more compassionate.
If there is a going beyond these activities of the self then the other is.
The other is not when the self is.
In understanding theres harmony that is eternal ever lasting .
What then is the self? The me ,the centre with its boundry ,limited thought that is memory and experience ,inherired through generations of tradition and culture.Conditioned entity through enviroment, society. When this me dissolves thus ending ,The other is and its neither yours or mine .
One of my top three songs off her debut album. Incredible at such a young age to write and produce these exquisite songs. Kate is simply great. Kudos XxXscarletsatineXxX from an appreciative American fan.
Oh my fricking god. I'm speechless. Thank you, Thank Kate

Uh, I just bought the album version on Amazon and it was completely different from this one. Can someone send me this version?

I think you will find this is a bootleg un released version. I thinks it is rare and hard to get.
