"They took the most unstable operating system." - let's be fair here, Windows 2000 was the most rock solid Windows product when it came out. Based on NT for server-use, it was orders of magnitude more stable than, say Windows 95/98/ME.
@invisi1407 Until a hard crash or a registry failure. I've had win2k systems suffer registry failures and were unrecoverable from it, forcing me to reinstall the OS. If a Win2k system suffers a power failure at a critical function, then it gets really ugly. Win7 gives one options on recovery from such issues.
Doesn't the OS boot from disk rather than tape?

Windows 2000 is not outdated yet since there is
still a lot of programs that support win2k and
microsoft still has help support for that operating
system.
