mississippibryo you seem not to be living in Kenya coz your comments does not reflect the pain of kenyans..may be you are one of the MP's son and it doesn't bother you if a common kenyan get food at the price they can afford..but ido..they have the right to fight for their right nothing like communism thats their right...food is life
@seartmboya - I think as Kenyans, we are fully to blame for our plight given that we voted these useless leaders that lack the foresight to plan ahead and develop the systems we need to ensure food security for the nation. That said, the phenomenon of high commodity prices is here to stay and will get worse due to pressure on resources around the world.
@seartmboya wacha kunichekesha rafiki. Just say you want free food for everybody and then collect the millions of signatures needed to change the constitution to make Kenya a de jure communist state where everything is free and nobody produces anything! No human being has ever repealed the law of supply and demand, we all suffer in life but that does not mean we should get free or subsidized things! I bet you also think the price of oil on the global market can be price fixed. Too funny.
Kenyans are amusing. It seems they want communism but are too scared to say it out loud. Comparing the price of a loaf of bread in 2011 to one in 2007 is laughable. Did they expect the price to remain constant? If so, those who own real estate should also expect to get the same price they paid for it 5 years ago when they sell it! You cant have your bread and eat it, pun fully intended. I wont even get into the comical attempt by MPs to introduce price fixing (communism) over the past few years
Prof Ndungu at the CBK has been expanding the monetary supply creating the construction boom. Of course that leads to inflation. I had been warning about this several years back. China is also facing the same consequences. You think you can just copy the US and get away with it? The US has an advantage as being the world's reserve currency. They can print more dollars without having inflation as they export inflation to other countries. Most US dollars are outside the US.
