@MoonScar this is a skill not unlike that aquired by playing video games. However, since we are "playing" with disease there is so much more to it and we have to consider our patient's overall health and well being. Lots of schooling and continuing education goes into this "game". I love it! I play to win!
its very interesting... I am DH but been away from the career for long time... and i think many new things are developed in last few years. any video to show what you see in the screen.
Good luck with dental school!! Keep in mind that the older you get the less you know. The DAT was the hardest test I ever took (harder than the MCAT and GRE). Be prepared!
wow this is really cool, I bet this is really hard to get use to. Its hard enough to get used to using the mirror for vision, and also the loopes. WOuld love to see a video closer up to see what the scope is showing you.
This is an advanced level skill and it takes plenty of practice to excel but what you could only "feel" with non-surgical treatment you can now "see" and it is a much "cleaner" result.
You get a Bachelors of Science in Dental Hygiene. By getting this degree you complete chemistry, bio, physics, and calculus . It all depends on how you do on your DAT. What country are you from? This is for the US?
hey im studying dent hygiene in Australia, were you actually cleaning here? Or just examining the perio pocket? If you were cleaning, what is the advantage? Isnt going by feel good enough?
Yes we were cleaning microvisually with the endoscope. Cleaning by feel is like washing your car with your eyes closed. You may be ok but when you open your eyes guess what, you missed plenty!! If you are treating pockets you would be embarassed to see how much you really miss...

Would have been nice to see a close up of what you can see on the screen.

Dear god. That sound is excruciating. I want to go to school for Dental Hygiene in Canada. I'll probably be the only male to do so. :P

No way in hell, there are many male hygienists. Did you know that you can use that bachelors degree you get with hygiene to become a dentist later.
