For those of you castigating the homeless man's family: There are homeless adults who are too far gone in their addiction or mental illness that the promise of a warm place to stay is not going to keep them off the streets all the time. @Luxamara What I'm saying is, in most cases homelessness is caused by either substance abuse or mental disorder, They may have lost contact with the victim due to many reasons, it isn't a matter of simply taking care of a family member, sometimes you can take in a family member and they have issues that cause problems as memory loss, both short term and long term, substance abuse such as alcoholism and drugs, it isn't as simple as they didn't love him because he wasn't with them.

@Luxamara What I'm saying is, in most cases homelessness is caused by either substance abuse or mental disorder, They may have lost contact with the victim due to many reasons, it isn't a matter of simply taking care of a family member, sometimes you can take in a family member and they have issues that cause problems as memory loss, both short term and long term, substance abuse such as alcoholism and drugs, it isn't as simple as they didn't love him because he wasn't with them.

The abuse story probably developed more after he and the family realized he screwed himself. His parents came to take the blame for everything in court with their abusive ways.
