i used to do this in my fitness class at school (instead of regular gym for 1 unit)
i got a lot thinner but after the unit ended, i started to gain weight....

There is no such thing as fat spot reduction.
You can do it by eating less and getting more cardio (running, jogging ect)

@sigrino This isn't so much cardio as muscle buildning, and muscles are necessary when burning fat. :) It all works hand in hand.

If you have never done this, don't use dumbbells.
Use them only after you have built some muscle.
