  • If my father married a woman like KH or a woman who was younger than me trust I wouldn't like her either. My father's nowhere near like Henry VIII but I'm completely on Mary's side.

  • Maybe that's why Mary was being horrilble to every one in her reign

  • i must say, i find it quite funny that Anne boleyn and Mary look so alike, much more so than Elizabeth.

  • lol ths is like the 16th century me. she reminds me of me so much. except, she got beheaded. 0_0 now im scared

  • ...it doesn't matter if Bloody Mary was right or wrong, this just shows the deeper character flaw of hers...mainly her lack of judgement in handling political situations, unlike Elizabeth...Queen Kitty had more power and Mary should have handled her differently...Mary made the same mistakes in her reign, hence she is one of the most reviled Monarchs in history...

  • Well, Lady mary did nothing but to ignore the fuckin stupid child that Katherine is. She doesn't deserve to be treated like that.

  • PUNISHMENT OF DEATH OR NOT! i would've taken her ugly-cheating-homewrecking ass down! >:O

  • @Dumpstermuffin1 lol, no, stepmother. Katherine was her step mother. A mother in law would be her husband's mother.

  • at least Anne Boleyn never did these kind of things, she never acted like a spoilt brat, her only concern was to act like a truly Queen and give to the King his most desired wish: a son.

  • @justinandbritneyJLA

Anne did have far better breeding, and do remember that she was a lady in waiting at the French court during her youth. She was also much better educated than Catherine in both academic and social areas. Even though she was a Howard, Catherine was born into the poorer side of the family (as far as "poor" nobility went), her father being a wayward and underachieving brother of the Duke of Norfolk, and who died when Catherine was a child. She simply lacked the graces.

  • @justinandbritneyJLA

A lot of people blame Catherine's youth for her impertinence, but please, this WAS the nobility. She was nineteen when she married Henry. Meanwhile, Lady Jane Grey was reading Greek, Hebrew and Latin by the time she was fourteen, and was praised as the model of feminine grace when she was only at that age.

  • The reason that Mary is so rude to Katherine is because Katherine had no right becoming a queen really. Shes stupid and i personally think shes the stupidest of all the wives King Henry had. I would act rude to her as well. No one wants air head for a queen.

  • Comment removed

  • At least Katherine made an effort to be nice to Mary! Maybe not at this point but when they first met, she offered to get to know her! Mary just turned her down all the time!

  • This womans performance as Katherine Howard is not very good. She prtrays her almost as a petulant and scatty school girl. She wasn't like that at all in reality. This woman clearly did no research before filming these scenes.

  • @noveltybobel Hey! Tamzin Merchant played Katherine Howard wonderfully! If you watch or read some of the interviews Tamzin had, she says that she wanted to really capture Katherine's true age and how young she was. She says she did do research-of course she did otherwise she wouldn't know who she was playing! Tamzin is my fav actress and Katherine is my fav queen!

  • @JessicaLouiseMusic What you have to remember is that teenagers in the 16th century didnt act the way teenagers today act. They were much more grown up and mature. She plays it like a spoilt little brat who wants to go to the mall and hang out with her friends. Like a 21st century teenager in 16th century clothing. I'm sure she played it the best she could, but i just didn't like what she did with it.

  • @JessicaLouiseMusic I'm sure she did research, but just because someone is young in age doesn't mean they act like that. People in those times behaved differently than a modern teenage girl wanting to go shopping with their friends. They behaved properly, not acting like a spoiled little girl. Perhaps the real Katherine Howard did act in such a way but this was Tamzin's interpretation, even research doesn't show everything of how one acts.

  • @BetaArtemis Actually, of what I've heard from history teachers, read in books, and overall researchs was that Katherine Howard was a very futile and shallow young girl, the so called "preppy girl" of nowadays. All she cared about was her good looks, parties and beautiful gowns, and cheated on Henry several times, which was the reason for her head being cut off.

  • @noveltybobel Well, all researches I did and all history teachers that told Henry's history always described Katherine Howard as someone frivolous and immature. Maybe she didn't act that petulant, but she certainly was frivolous and immature. By the way, she had way too much responsability as a queen, and she was just a very young teenager.

  • Queen Katherine is such a bitch!! She is the one that disrespects Mary. She thinks she could do anything only because she is married to you King Henry! !:) She is so immature! !___

  • RICHTIG geil geschauspielert, denke ich mir immer wieder.... Hammerszene

  • Everyone here seems to think that Katherine Howard is a bitch and bla bla bla, but what about Mary? She was rude to katherine since the beginning, and even thought she didn't deserve to hear this, she had it coming, acting like that--- They both act very childish in this scene.

Love Katherine Howard though... One of my favorite characters in the whole show

    (P.s:sry about my english =S)

  • @Lestaremy They've certainly been antagonizing each other, but I think the reason people side with Mary is that she's right. Katherine IS a naive girl who cares only about pleasure. Mary, for all of her faults, is an honorable, virtuous young woman. It kinda is beneath her to bow to Katherine.

  • @Icetor01 I do understand that Mary is a more honorable and virtuous person, but my point is: She was being rude to Katherine. Agreeing or not with her point of view, she should had treated her with more respect. She should had known that she would won nothing but this with her behaviour... Not sure if I'm explaining myself correctly =Pp

  • @Lestaremy Katherine is one of your favourite characters in the whole show?! how exactly.. I don't find how she is portrayed to be very likable at all..

  • @peacedesertrose I did like her on the show, even though she was very childish, most of the time. Maybe because of her tragic fate and her childhood. And the actress was great in my opinion.

  • @Lestaremy I hardly think Mary was rude just because she wasn't fawning at Katherine's feet. Mary ignored her and never yelled or picked a fight with her, it was Katherine who got fussy and acted out. To earn respect, you must act like a person to be respected which Katherine did not. She acted more like an immature child than a lady who is Queen. Such behavior deserves no respect if she cannot even act like a Queen. The only one rude is Katherine for her frivolous and childish behavior.

  • Damn fine actresses :)

  • Mary is awesome even if later she is known as bloody mary.it is good that katherine will die

  • Wow. That's the 15th century-version of Mean Girls.

  • @892lgy7382 I mean 16th century, sorry. :P

  • Comment removed

  • Do the people making these comments realize that this is only television and that it is not a true depiction of these people who lived 450 some odd years ago?

  • I love both of these characters/historical figures. In this scene I hate them both yet feel bad for both of them. They are tragic young women.

  • Can anyone tell me the name of the prayer in the beginning?

  • good day to you too whore! i'll be respecting you at your execution by wearing my finest clothes!

  • @toonbrown1 Katherine Howard's my favourite queen. She was not a whore! If someone spoke to you like that, you'd respond the same way. Well, maybe not you, idk you, but I know I would. And she only died because she fell in love!

  • @JessicaLouiseMusic Katherine died because she slept with another man while married to the Queen. I'm sorry but she knew how this society worked, she knew her place yet she chose to commit treasonous behavior. She died because she was stupid and she got caught. The way she acted was childish and not at all Queen-like. All Mary did was ignore her for the most part and never said a word. Katherine was the one looking to pick a fight. Sorry but I have no sympathy for Katherine Howard.

  • @JessicaLouiseMusic She was Queen, she was a Howard, she should have known how to act, she should have known how the court worked yet she CHOSE to break those rules. This is why she died, not because she fell in love, but because she was childish. She married the King, there are things expected of her, she knew that yet she still chose to break the rules. This is her own fault.

  • Still, Katherine was Queen and she deserves respect .

  • @SuperBell47 She was also a spoiled, immature brat who obviously had no RESPECT for Mary or her little sister Elizabeth.

  • @xyPERSON She loved Elizabeth. WTH are you talking about? I love Mary, but she was being a little bitch.

  • @SuperBell47 Mary did nothing wrong. All she did was just not talking to Katherine and ignoring her for the most part. She did not engage with Katherine and mostly stayed out of Katherine's way. It's not like Mary shouted at her or called her names. Katherine was the one who acted out and got all fussy that Mary wasn't fawning over her.

  • @BetaArtemis It was obvious Mary disliked her though, and she should've hidden it better.

  • @SuperBell47 It was obvious that Mary hated Anne Boleyn as well, and what did Anne do? She didn't care much and simply treated her like she was no issue. THIS is how you act like a queen, Katherine clearly could not behave properly.

  • @BetaArtemis Amen.

  • Mary was like 8 years older what the hell!

  • And am i the only one who feels a bit off with Mary talking so highly of her father? after how he treted her mother, and how he treated all his wives when it came to the baby issue, you would think Mary would be more sensitive to the subject instead of bashing Katherine for still not having a baby. Lil Elizabeth seems to be the only one to fully understand who her father was

  • Well.. this argument is a bit both sided equally.. like Mary was always a bitch to Katherine from the very beginning not really giving her a chance, just because of Katherine's background Mary felt like she was practically all that. but also despite how a love Katherine she could have approached Mary with more maturity. Maybe Mary just didn't appreciate having a younger step mother? they both are bitches towards each other lol

  • @Belindagirl13 Mary was not the one being a bitch, she simply spent most of her time ignoring Katherine and did not push for interaction. She did not call her names or shout at her or act in an unsavory manner, she was always polite. Mary did not like Katherine because Katherine was like a preppy airhead who just giggle and dance and wear pretty dresses. It is not behavior of a Queen. Mary did not like Jane Seymour or Anne of Cleves either in the beginning, look at how those women handled it.

  • I love how they both kinda foreshadowed each other's fates.

  • @Fader33 Mary did got married to Philip of Spain. So only Mary's prediction about Katherine did happen

  • @Komnenit True, but Mary didn't get married until her late 30s. Few believed at the time that Mary would ever get married.

  • Want to know what's funny when Catherine says Mary's much older and still not married. Tamzin Merchant who plays Catherine was born in 1987 and Sarah Bolger who plays Mary was born in 1991 LOL.

  • You could really tell that Mary had more grace,Honestly...Kittywas probably nice but she did have an affair with Culpepper & Dereham...Mary should of mentioned that but then she would of removed all of her maids,Could Kitty behead or execute Mary...Because if that was legal in the 16th Century that would of been messed up,Mary was kind of Katherine's half-daughter since it wasn't her own but it was her husbands.Mary obviously stood up for herself when Kitty called her that name.

  • Comment removed

  • Catherine spoils her maids just as much as she spoils herself for any kind of matter

  • Katherine was so dumb! She had absolutely no idea of how to survive in a king's court, especially a king like Henry and I could not help but feel a little bit sorry for her in the end.

  • @xyPERSON Not dumb, just young and put into a world she didn't belong. I also felt quite bad for her.

  • Oh ho! Whoa! They're both total bitches!

  • eh i don't like this Katherine at all. She's all prssy and stuff she acts like she's all that. Ugh she's ugly and young anyways.

  • Oooooh 16th Century Cat fight.

  • @ilovesoulfood1993 Yeah, except those days, royals and nobels tended to spar more with words and tongues instead of fists, blades, slaps, gnashing of teeth, and tearing of dresses and hair. LOL

  • Kitty should take Mary advice of not be just there and be a true queen, but even if she was right, she shouldn't talk to the queen like this, what did she expect, a hug and a thanks??

  • to be honest, Katherine did try to reach out and be a friend, but Mary snubbed it.

  • Mary is not cruel, is perseverant. Blessed with honor and virtue, here you can perfectly watch the difference between a real woman and a inconscius and capricious child, even they have the same age. And Mary of course is the example to follow...

  • Ohhh Mary how i wish to be a remarkable lady like you

  • Mary is cruel absolutely cruel.

  • @the4beautiful why? she only say the true

  • Medieval Cat-fight!

  • katherine Howard... u bitch.

    Lady Mary... u dignified legend!

  • Poor Katherine Howard..being portrayed like this..and this show is so popular it's likely people will assume she was exactly like this,

  • @Nicollie1062 That's what I am thinking everytime I watch this.

  • @ShanaFirouzeh Yeah I think it quite odd that people watch a show and truly believe that is how the *real* person was like. There are people who go on a anti-KatherineHoward rampage allover the educational history vids and when you ask them why it is they don't like her...they talk about a scene in the Tudors!!! ---sheesh!--- lol well cheers <3

  • @Nicollie1062 I think, KH was just too young and she didn't "understand the responsibilites that go along with being the queen" (Tamzin Merchant). :D

She wanted to try things out and have fun ^^

  • I hate how bratty she is, mary is actually very dignified in this scene, and speaks the truth, all katherine wants to do is play dress up and dance, then shag some other guy behind her husband's back, very frivolous. God, she acts like a five year old, "you're older and not married and i am, haha! and since I am higher than you, I'll take all your toys and chuck them away!" very nice. i wasn't glad when she got killed, but i know if this was me, i'd have floored the child.

  • Comment removed

  • I hate how they present Katherine so bitchy and childlike in the show. (and especially in such an exagerated way- NO one above twelve acts like that) If I were her I would be pretty much be turning on my grave or something :P lol

  • Okay now I don't like Mary at all but that was HARSH I mean Kitty didn't have to be so mean to her. I mean it's one thing to be harsh to ur step daughter. But dont rub it in if ur younger then her and ur married already. That's just rude.

  • Katherine Howard is my favourite queen.

  • hahahaa

normally i would say that was bratty of Catherine, but I HATE mary with a passion, sooo...yaa:) that was well deserved.

  • "In any case he'll soon tire of you. You'll see"

Mary: You'll see. I've seen 4 queens in my life, one of them my own mother.

  • braaaat

  • Fuck u Queen ur a slut! go mary Bitch her out she dumb Ass Queen anyway she got no boobs at all lol!

  • Heeeey Mary says to Katherine "He will tire of you" just as her mother, Catherine of Aragon said to Anne Boleyn..and how ironic that Anne and Katherine who were first cousins ended up married to the same man who executed both of them.

  • As much as Katherine got the last laugh in this scene....you have to love how Mary steps towards her with that classic "Bring it bitch!" expression.

  • What does Mary say from 1:25 to 1:30? Please someone write it down!

  • @QueenBrendaSIV You are thought capable of bearing sons

  • @QueenBrendaSIV "You are thought capable of bearing sons."

  • Scenes like this one really left me baffled as to why so many people liked Queen "Kitty"; she may have been young, but she was also a sleazy, opportunistic, spoiled brat, and completely unfit to be a queen.

  • Wow Mary has been through so much and stupid Katherine has to go in there and be a total bitch. Loved how Mary gave those insults to Katherine. With a calm stance but with her voice full of spite. :) I think that was her more Spanish side coming out. ;)

  • Ugh stuiped Kathrine Howard she thinks that she can do everything she wants even though she is the queen of England. Lady Mery was actully true.

Kathrine Howard: Huh! your jelus of me!!!! Im married but ur not just beacuse ur older then me doesnt mean u dont give respect to me!!! IM the queen of england!Mary: What if my Father henry removes you to?....

  • lol she's so like: Well i don't like you so I won't play with you any more! hahahaha and also I'm taking away all your toys.

  • She carries herself with great dignity, and also modesty. HAHAHA verbal slap in the face :D

  • I LOVE KATHERINE, but in this scene she had no right to do that after all what mary has been through ..... In a way I think Katherine is a little like Henry, she loves power but mary has a point, all she really did as queen was dance have sex and receive gifts, but come on can you blame her she was young! And in this scene really showed her Henry side

  • Katherine only acts and speaks to Mary like that because she was a young girl and was trying to get on-up on Mary, who was much older then her. Also she was Queen which meant alot in those days. She wanted respect and the Tudors is not actually accurate on the historical side..

  • i'm not much of a fan of either of them, but seeing soon-to-be-bloody mary so cool and composed, and katherine howard swaying frivolously and gaily (in the archaic definition) about, it just makes me want to support mary. idk why

  • Jesus, Katherine is a right bitch in this scene

  • If Henry hadn't have beheaded Katherine, I bet Mary would have burned her at the stake when she was queen.

  • Maria was the one that started badly. It's too bitter. Maybe when he sees Catherine remembers Anne Boleyn.

  • @RandomPeanutAttack you're right. But at that time still did not think of marrying. Maria also had more than twenty years and by the standards of the time, Maria was married very old. So make fun of it.

  • GO Marry

  • Mary should have slapped Katherine Howard right in her face!!

  • @Jakegothicsnake that would have been treason (or something along those line). You didn't touch a king or queen.Like Mary says, "flesh was sacred"

  • Classic stuck-up catty dumb blonde quuen bee vs brainy brunette.

"If the king thought me frivilous, then why did he marry me?"

Mary: "Funny you should say that. For whilst I was alone in my private quarters, praying to God for the speedy recovery of my little brother's life, YOU were busy commiting adultery against the King and doing doggy style with that Culpepper wretch, you harlot!!"

  • Welcome to Tudor High

  • I love Mary.

  • OMG katherine you are bitch

  • High School never ends it seems lol. The Tudors High School.

  • Poor Mary I think Mary only wants her mother back to comfront her when she feels down. And as for Katherine she was so mean to Mary in this one poor Mary .

But Mary gives it back to her GO MARY !

  • marys only 21 in this part only two years but i get what AkatsukiHoes is saying

  • Blah, blah, blah i've always hated Queen kitty. Just like in the above posts, Katherine definitely does not carry herself as a queen let alone a proper young lady. If anything, she's a mere child who expects to be respected. Katherine is so Irritating nonetheless. If i was Lady Mary, i don't think i would stand for such bullshit.

  • @hooplaplooza

Yes but ditzy or not she was still Queen and could hurt Mary much more then Mary could hurt her

  • I hate MAry in this Scene , She showed little or no respect for HRM wife, but on the bright side Katherine did get some satisfaction.....take that Bloody Mary...........

  • @albermondeigo Mary had her mother taken from her to die alone with out her, declared a bastard, her father demanded that she declare herself so, treated like dirt by Anne B, and now she is finally back with good standing with her father who thinks of himself and his own pleasures rather than his daughters happiness. There is a reason she was a bitter woman.

  • "If the king thought me frivilous, then why did he marry me?"

Didn't you suck his dick when you first met?

  • @ZeroMyHero99 No, she diddled herself with his ring in front of him.

  • @FantasmaLuna

    Thank you

  • @ZeroMyHero99 ah, that's how it works, is it.

  • i do think mary was right but also katherine does that because last time mary was a bitch towards her

  • that's what i call the old-style of bitching...just like watching mean girls except the setting was on the 1500s...haha

  • Comment removed

  • I have sympathy for Princess Mary and Queen Katherine. I feel bad for Katherine because all she wanted was to be liked by Mary and was trying to be her friend. I feel bad for Mary because of all the horrible things that happend to her before Katherine came into the picture. Plus I would not be to thrilled to have a stepmother younger than me by 5 or 6 years.

  • @TudorRose85 try more like eight mary was 24 when katherine (16) married her father.

  • @TheEquineExpert no mary was 21 and kitty was 19

  • @ZoeCEubanks Actually, Katherine HOward's exact age was not known. She was thought to be around 15 as 17 would not have been considered "very young" then. Mary was also a few years older than 21 by then.

  • @Chocolateluvr1987

Antonia Fraser comes the closest in terms of actual research in determining Catherine's date of birth, and she sets it at 1521. This meant she was 19 at the time of her marriage to Henry, and anything younger would have been considered grotesque even by Henry's standards. Moreover, the dangers for mothers who were too young were just as great as those who gave birth who were older. This meant Catherine was five years younger than Mary, who was born in 1516.

  • If I was Mary i would have freaking smacked that bleach blond brat and said I dont treat you with respect because YOU DONT DESERVE IT and the only reason my dad married you is because you have no proubles laying on your back and opening your legs

  • @PrincessKarrah She pretty much did say that, lol

  • @mjtodd09 yea well if I was Mary those would have said noy caring about being polite

  • omg i cant believe anne boleyn and katherine howard are cussions

  • I really can't stand Katherine Howard...

  • catherine is such a b. and what mary said about cathrine not acting like a queen is true..

  • that stupid kathrine is a little blonde slut!!

  • Katherine is silly and petty, but she is Queen and that really counted for something back then. You didn't have the freedom to chose to be respectful or not like you do now, so I think Mary was foolish to cut Katherine the way she did.

  • I'm just wondering, how would removing Mary's maids be bad?

  • @ayanesama because for the princess, specially a lonelyone like Mary her maids sometimes be the only friends that they had...

  • Mary's emotion is so strong here

  • 2:16 I sorely hope she realizes that Mary's cousin is watching her back, and is the Holy Roman Emperor and King of Spain, ie, someone who it would be wise not to piss off

  • Go Mary! I know that Katherine is young and naive. But Katherine Howard, at least in this adaption seems to be a silly girl bent on her own pleasure, if she had been more sensible she might have kept her head.

  • Okay Mary and Kitty are both at fault, Mary for not giving her initial respect as a Queen, and Kitty for not really being a proper queen. And plus, personally, I really wanna slap Kitty. Anybody else?

  • @mitsuchan325 Amen.

  • @mitsuchan325 I agree with wanting to slap Katherine. I would have snatched her by her hair and thrown her on the ground for speaking to me like that.

  • @5MoreMinutesForever I agree If i was Mary I would have told Kathrine I dont show you the respect because you dont desorve the respect and the reason my father Married you is Because you have no problems laying on your back

  • If i where Mary I would have told Kathrine I dont show you the respect because you dont desorve the respect and the reason my father Married you is Because you have no problems laying on your back

  • When it comes to actual history, I am no fan of Mary I. But Sarah Bolger portrayed her amazingly, and in this scene she totally owned Katherine... at first, anyway! In the end, all of these women we discuss were shaped and even victimized by Henry VIII.

  • I absolutely HATE Katherine in this scene! She is so whiney in the fact that Mary has shown her no respect. Mary had a right to her opinion no matter the reason but I think Katherine had her own faults in thinking that as Queen she should automatically recieve the respect of all she met and be given gifts on a wim because that is how Henry treated her. She never thought that she might actually have to earn respect, and like Mary said all Katherine seemed to like is dresses and dancing.

  • Katehrine was kind to offer initial friendship and frankly Mary should have been more diplomatic.

  • a servant to her half-sister, separated from two queens she actually liked (Jane and Anne) relatively quickly, and never married off despite desirable suitors. She barely got to have a mother, and Chapuys was more of a father to her than Henry, IMO.

Again, that's not to say that Mary wasn't rude here. She was. And there are other factors in Mary's past on this show that make her hostile to new queens. But she could've earned Mary's respect if she'd been more mature, a la Anne of Cleves.

  • I think they're both wrong here, although I favor Mary more. Yes, Mary was a snot here, and incorrigibly rude. But Catherine throws tantrums and shows no respect to Mary, either, hands on hips and barging in to the room like a spoilt brat. She demands that Mary show her respect as a queen, but she doesn't act as a queen; she really does just flounce around in pretty clothes and dance. Also, let's not forget all Mary's been through with Henry's romances and whims: separated from her mother, made

  • Just compare THIS to her DOWNFALL, she should of listened to Mary's "Wakeup" call and maybe Katherine wouldn't of lost her head. Also i think it's kind of cruel as her as a stepmother, she insulted her own step daughter! If only she would take it calmly with some respect and talk to her about it instead of "bitch" talking to Mary then maybe Mary would of liked and respected her. Then again, Katherine Howard is just a teenager. How the hell can a teenage girl be queen! I mean is that even possible!?

  • @skllpirates12457 Considering people in those days often got married in their early to mid teens and died before they hit 50, it was perfectly possible and even common for a teenage girl to marry the king.

  • @skllpirates12457 Thank you. I think that is was Katherine needed a major wake up call.

  • Oh come'on we all don't get on with anyone in life and sometimes we can't put on a front. This is all that has happened here, personally I like Mary

    xxx

  • Both actresses did an excellent job playing their roles.

  • I dont particularly like either of their attitudes towards each other, however in a way I can see it from Marys POV: I cant imagine calling someone else 9 years my junior "Mother" or "Stepmother" however, she could have made an honest effort to befriend her though or at least be civil to her

  • It's a bitch against a bitch. They both were nasty here.

  • wat is the movie called? plz reply

  • @mzbieberfeiver85 this is the showcase television series The Tudors.

  • @cherryspud1989 ooh ok ty

  • @mzbieberfeiver85 This is the Showtime television series The Tudors

  • "If His Majesty thought me any frivolous, then why did he marry me?"

Didn't you suck his dick when you first met him?
