The first video is almost ten minutes long, but if you are patient (or fast forward) in between the vocal incantations, you will find melodic blues style playing. This is traditional African music isolated from European influence. The point of course is that everything is a hybrid. A remix. Blues would not exist without Africa and as a result neither would rock (metal)

Demonaz writes the lyrics, but yeah, Abbath is a smart guy, and for someone with such energy he is articulate. I love his energy and humour though, and his total lack of ego and pretentiousness, he is someone who takes his music seriously but not himself, which is the direct opposite of many famous musicians and rockstars these days. Also, he is proof that artistic integrity and entertainment value are not mutually exclusive.
