Have any of you read what Bannon said about this festival? He said something along the lines of, all you pretentious kids talking shit about Dethklok probably have Korn shirts in your closets, and you have to play festivals to get new fans. Get off your high horses.
Does anyone take dethklok real seriously? Because even though i like their music, theyre meant to be a joke band and for fun. Mastodon is good too because theyre sponsored by adult swim by being promoted so much on it. Converge is just out of place and does better headlining their own show
You can say "it's easy to play and write," but I have no reason to believe you. It's a very clear sign of dismissal. You're not even into this kind of music, so saying "it's easy to write" is just an easy way to dismiss it. If you don't even like this brand of Hardcore/Metal, then you don't have the passion for it enough to make a riff, song, or album the best that it can be, so of course it'll seem easy to you.
Converge is infinitely better than "deathklok." Simply put, Converge is full of passion, energy, intensity, and emotion. "deathklok" is novelty music for novelty people.

And I whole-heartedly disagree with your presumption that Converge are "musically inept." They've been around for 20 years, and imo, they haven't released a bad album yet. 20 years into their career, and they're still full of creativity and passion, and if that isn't the hallmark of a group of incredible musicians, I don't know what is.
@Matrobben the point I'm making is that converge isn't talented in any form. None of the instrumentation in any of their songs is impressive. I am also thoroughly unimpressed with their lyrical content as well. I have given Converge multiple chances to try and impress me, and no matter how hard I try to get into them...it just doesn't happen.
