@wearechangeraleigh if you know something about resent Copenhagen diagnosis, you will see different scientists from different countries and different institutes claim that everything is developing faster then expected.

the statistics data never 100% objective, they depend on the methodology, scientific studies are also full of social and manmade factors. but the over all picture is clear enough, whenever the conclusion is sound, it is verifiable by different people.

if you really concerned related issue, you can also search 'energy lobby' and see how big energy companies (like petrol or coal based electricity) lobby and influence the congress and government.

I did look into the "divergence" issue you were talking about, but if you look at the emails and documents regarding the code and data you will see that they even use a variable called "fudge factor" and the comment says "Apply a VERY ARTIFICAL correction for decline!" What does that tell you about the validity of that algorithm?
